8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #15 /Life After the PC

Our family too is more than likely out of the 2010 cruises if what is being rumored is true. I think that I am truly depressed not having something to look forward to. If we won't be going to Europe in 2010 then I think we might head to WDW for 7-10 days next summer. Anyone up for a waterless cruise reunion?

We'll be @ WDW (Boardwalk Villas), sometime that Summer (I think Susan's mom has DVC pts set aside)

This seems doable.... especially since Thomas & I are now DVC members:goodvibes Can we join in on the fun??

Hi Gang,
I'm feeling alot better - but can't seem to shake the cough.

If the rumors are true re the dates - I doubt we'll be able to sail on the WB repo.
Maybe bump the "dummy" cruise to 2011 for the new ship.

I'm glad you're feeling better. I hope the cough is gone soon!

Maybe DCL is reading and will change up the dates a little..... :goodvibes

Wow was it difficult to get out of bed and come to work this morning.

It is amazing the sheer amount of work I have to do between now and when they've decided they don't need me anymore. :confused3

Regardless, this week will end on a happy note: I'll be slowly circling the World Showcase eating and drinking in just 96 short hours.

I'm surprised that they have you still there after they let you go. I know that if dh lets someone go (or they quit) he has them out of their office within about a half hour......

Not sure what I think of the rumored summer 2010 cruises. We are considering just buying DVC instead and spread the wealth. Can't be any worst investment than our 401k right now.:lmao: Although I would love to go the Baltic or the Med. I have to think about summer 2009. I promised DD a trip for getting her teaching degree. She wants to go back to Italy...but it just might be the Italy pavillion at Epcot.:rotfl2:

I may be able to talk dh into that soon...... :goodvibes

Hey Everyone!

We had a fabulous time on this cruise, one of the best we have had! A lot of that is thanks to the wonderful people that we met on this trip :grouphug:

Tracy is was great meeting you!!!! I lLOVE that you came up to me int eh terminal -- that was so something I would do!! :goodvibes

We didn't really get the crud that everyone else seems to have gotten. I had a small bout with sinus issues on the 5 night but as soon as I got the air conditioning adjusted it was better. Along with staying in a suite, I did another thing that I've never done on a cruise before, I went to First Aid on Castaway Cay  Seems I forgot to drink enough fluids at Castaway Cay and the heat got to me. That was ok, I spent the afternoon in the room watching movies with Castaway Cay at my back :goodvibes

OH, MY!

I'm hoping to have time in the near future to upload some of the 3000 photos I took, but right now I need to help my sister with some garden plantings before winter and 2010 dates will be released soon.

Thanks again to everyone who made this cruise special for us :goodvibes :goodvibes

Upload the pics soon!!! I am having so much fun looking at everyones!!

I made a quick and easy smilebox slideshow for family & friends...who have been asking me...."where are THOSE 2500 pictures you took on vacation"

http://smilebox.com/playBlog/4e4463784d7a51314e673d3d0d0a

Love it, Jill!!!

Well, if you're going to point out the obvious, then I was overshadowed by most of the kids on this cruise too.

:rotfl: :rotfl: 7dd spent the cruise telling other kids *I am NOT 4, I'm just short!* Our Dr has told me that she'll be lucky to hit 4'11".... We'll see! That will mean we will have one dd that is 5'9" and one that is under 5'.....:lmao: Won't family pictures look cute?

:sad2: :sad1: Poor John has to put up with me all by himself now!!!:sad2: :sad1:

:rotfl2: Samantha & I were laughing at one of the Cartagena pics (I don't remember who's it was) you can see me talking to you and Samantha said *Is that when you are walking with Cheryl and telling her to stop talking to the vendors and to not make eye contact with them?* :lmao:

We have reservations for Sept 27th through, I think, Oct 3....... We may be able to work another trip in.....

I can't imagine you as mean! Your so nice and Cherie too!

Exactly!!! :goodvibes

Kim the pics are cute. Cheryl we all thought we dressed cool in the 70's! :hippie: Now I look back on the old pics and I have to laugh! What was I thinking?

My pics from the 70's look better then my pics from the 80's.....I really went for the BIG hair look in the 80's! :rotfl:

Still uploading pics to the site. For some reason some of my pics are stuck in a program I have on my laptop, and I can't get to the files. Who knows what I did. I've got plenty more to post.

I can't wait to see all of your photos!!!

Take over a section of Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach... hmmmmm....

Maybe near the volleyball courts for some rugby?
Wonder if they have 2'fer drinks?

Rugby movie coming out this weekend called "Forever Strong". I could plan some strategy for the next game.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We would not need 2'fer drinks.......we could bring bring thermos containers full!! :dance3:

Okay fearless leader..........lets get into a planning mode.:rolleyes1

Don't tell John(He hads been too busy at work to read this) but sometimes I feel sorry for him having to put up with me and my antics.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I would like the end of August into the day after Labor Day for reunion.

Me neither!!!

I loved the mini dresses with my Go Go white boots!!! I was also 50 pounds thinner.

But John has a lot of practice! Just kidding!

I know you love me!!

Well, if she reaches 4'11", she'll still be one more person to overshadow me.
(Though only by an inch.)

I feel sorry for my Jon all the time! LOL!! He deserves a much better wife!!! LOL!

The reason we are booked for the end of Sept is the heat........ AK is HORRIBLE at that time! I actually felt like I was going to be ill from the heat there.

Well, if she reaches 4'11", she'll still be one more person to overshadow me.

:) Too funny that Claire may end up being taller them someone! :)

Cheryl the problem is that Labor Day in 2009 is on September 7th :scared1: Madison will be starting HS next year so we have to be home no later than 8/23. We are good to go from the end of June until the 23rd of August. Pricing out packages it looks like you can save $100-200 in August but we enjoyed the weather at the end of June last year. Maybe we should start a poll.

Cheryl, you know I love you! And John too!

70's 80's it all looks funny now. I don't know if I had big hair or not? :confused3 Most of the time my hair had a mind of it's own, so probably frizzy! :rotfl:

We are going to WDW Feb 15-21, 2009. Kaitlin's school has a break that week. I like the weather in Feb.

We could be game for something in the summer too. I still have DVC points!

Majority rules. :thumbsup2 I guess I am just spoiled without the crowds in september.;) I just love the free dining too in August.:flower3:

I was in 60's too:eek:  and loved the GO GO Boots!!!:dance3: I learned the Stroll, Mashed Potatoes, the Swim, the Boogaloo, and the James Brown. Do you remeber any of those dances??:confused3

Anyone up for a waterless cruise reunion?

Pick me pick me....(if i get a job soon)

Can we join in on the fun??
~Penny

Sure Penny.....

We would like to go to Florida end of August and over Labor Day(no one in the parks day after Labor Day).:cheer2: :cheer2:

uh Mom....Roger did say summer. (ie the time from end of June until mid august before the kids go back to school)

Maybe we should start a poll.

Polls!!!!!!!!!!!! WE  polls....

DD wants to go for her 16th b-day in May (long memorial day trip; it's not that bad and you get flower fest and star wars weekends)

Beyond that and I'd pick last week in June (ish) or first/second week in August because she also wanted to be a counselor at Girl Scout Camp next summer which is usually during July.

But wait....I need that job first.... I had to promise DH no trip planning until i got another job...:sad1:

Well off to git me one of those....

We are game whenever in 2010...Since Tori is home schooled but I would even put up with summer just to hang out with all of you! How about near the end of August (kind of similar to our cruise this year) and those that want to hang out a little longer can and those who have to head home..can do so.

 This would be so much fun and I would have a vacation planned and feel so much better!

edit: Oh wait..I just saw Roger is talking about 2009..we can't go in 2009...that vacation we have planned and can't get out of unless we want to lose the money. I thought we were talking 2010...sorry! Never mind...I will live vicariously thru you guys! I don't think DH would give up France/Italy for WDW. (We are doing an ABD in 2009)

I'm not sure when my kids start school, but it may be BEFORE Labor Day next summer, but I think we could definitely do mid August! :woohoo:

I just booked out the airfare for the 3 of us to take our "free" trip to France (it was a perk when we bought some DVC points) .. round trip for the 3 of us would be a little over 13K :scared1: :scared1:

We were plannning on doing 2 ABD - the one we earned and one with points..so we would be flying into France and then into Italy and home from Italy...I think DH and I will be having a chat...I can't see spending that on airfare.

We do have some choices here in the States but thought we should go to Europe. Time to rethink this...

I'm surprised that they have you still there after they let you go. I know that if dh lets someone go (or they quit) he has them out of their office within about a half hour......

Wow. So much for 2 weeks notice!

I wasn't exactly let go, as much as my job (or more to the point my salary) went POOF, and I certainly didn't quit. Our fiscal year starts Oct.1 and my salary didn't make it into the budget - we had to cut about $1 million (1/7 of our budget) - that meant 5 positions and a few projects. I'm sort of a victim of my success - they can't cut most of the program staff (the people who do the 'work' of the organization) because most of their jobs are funded by grants. Guess who got the grants?? Oh yeah...me!

I have a $1.5 million proposal due on my last day - the biggest one the organization has ever written. They sorta need me right now. The whole thing sucks, but at least they are going about it the right way - I got 2 weeks notice and 6 weeks severance. I'm only 50% vested in our 403(b) (non-profit versionof a 401(k)), but they are at least talking about letting me keep 100% since I'm not leaving by choice.

I had interview #2 with one org. this morning. I think they are going to make me an offer, but I'm not sure I will take it. Place seems a bit disfunctional...

I interview at a 3rd place tomorrow morning...still waiting to hear about the job I really, really want that I interviewed for last week...

Great slideshow Jill!

Congrats again on your son's engagement!

It looks like Parker had a blast ziplining.

And what exactly was in your daughter's champagne glass! LOL!

Thanks Mike!
Parker loved the ziplining. We were not sure he would be able to do it, but they were so good with him and helped him along the way. He talks about it constantly.

ohhh, and Kallie had apple cider in her glass. She loves to "cheers" with anybody drinking anything! LOL

I was really hoping the 2010 repos would give me something to look forward to but does not sound like that will be happening.
I am so bored, I went to the grocery store 3 blocks away just to get out of the house. Not having our next vaca to plan is a foreign feeling.

I would not say I'm bored...but I totally understand what you mean. The trip planning was so consuming, it feels so funny not doing it 24/7 still. I also have 1 less child in school this year, since DS18 graduated. Because of drum corp and the trip, he missed all the deadlines to get started at our local college that he wants to go to, so he is taking this semester off and just working at Jamba juice teaching at a high school with their drumline. That just means no PTSA, booster meetings and one less back to school night. LOL Woohoo

Love it, Jill!!!

Holy smokes.....that is sick!! I remember pricing out the Med flights in 2007 and it wasn't even that for our whole family.......although close...LOL
I would love to do an ABD!!

Wonder if Roger can get the  Banana  bus to run the east coast and pick up all up.....

I can call Carla but I don't think so. That would work out really well thought, picking Diane up first in Boston. She could lead sing-a-longs until they pick you up so you could pole dance the rest of the way to FL.

We're already talking about a visit to WDW next summer as well - possibly combined with a side trip into WDC. My BIL in Boston was going to come down to WDW and WDC to meet up with us - however the precise dates have not been aired. I tend to think it would be August though. Maybe I can shift our trip to match up with everyone the plans being formed here?

Changing channels here... last nite I spoke with about 100 other families on behaf of our old preschool - which was being threatened with UNFAIR cancellation of thier contract to opertate the school. It seems someone in the city is attempting to abruptly circumvent the bidding process to put a new operator in substitution. The new operator has not been shown to be better qualified or to improve the relationship with the city (revenue or quality of service to the community). EG, the new operator has been CLOSING local pre-schools they have run - they do NOT operate any INFANT care or TODDLER programs - and DO NOT operate a 7-6PM program - only part day ... and they have nothing like the Nationally recognized accredation of our old Roots and Wings program. Furthermore, several examples of questionable conduct and merit have been demonsrated by the city finance people and proposed new operator... and so we had a large organized prescence with several prepared statements ... including one which took several of us to read in consecutave fashion. I was one of 3 speakers who drew loud applause before the mayor requested we hold the applause down. Also, one person saw me specificly speaking on City TV last nite and jumped in their car (ANGRY) over what she heard was happening - and spoke at the council as well. I was one of a couple who were singled out to amplify my comments to the council - as council members were asking me to clearify certain statements I made (infammatory). Yes ... I was a bit outspoken - however it was nominally diplomatic in defense of those who were being UNFAIRLY targeted... and threatened with destruction of thier business and destruction of the preschool which has come to pass as a great local feature of our community. Here's a simple info link for any who might be curious as to what I'm in a "huff" about here... and I might add Rogers' daughter shared a pre-school class with my daughter many years ago here... http://rootswings.info/Background.htm

At any rate - here are a couple of images of me (the trouble maker in red) shot by friends in the audience in the council chamber last nite...
