8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #15 /Life After the PC

Hi All

I know that I have been MIA but getting back into reality:sad2: We have been transitioning to our new company at work which has not been fun. Kids have finally gotten back into their school routine but Cherie and I feel like we are Supershuttle running back and forth. Well one of the the good things that came from our being bought by a new company was that I had a chance to cash out a lot of my paid time off without penalty. We have been needing another computer in the house (Madison needed one for school work) so I got a new laptop. I have been waiting to get a new computer so that I could do videos since my other two are just to slow to handle them. I have put together my first video of the cruise (actually a slide show as a movie) so I hope that you enjoy it. I would also like to thank Phil Collins for the music since it was perfect for this and everyones pictures. I would recommend doing it in DVD mode unless you have a really fast internet connection.

Repo Family "New Friends"

Roger, loved the slide show!
That song always brings tears to my eyes (the whole end of the cruise deal) and the funny thing is that is the song that 10ds usually does for voice auditions! LOL!

Getting back to reality has NOT been fun! :sad2: Our fantasy world on the ship is so much more fun! :yay:

That's awesome Roger! Thanks for sharing! I Love It!!!

I've been pulling some pictures off the smugmug site to make a slide show. Now you've inspired me to actually get it done!

:lmao:
My best friend in school played the cello. She rode the bus, but her mom had to drive her to school on orchestra days.

I really wanted to play the trumpet, but no one else in my school was playing it and I didn't want to be a 1 person trumpet section. So I played the flute along with about 70% of the girls in my class. I lasted about a year and a half and never could sight read music.

My DH actually played the flute until high school and then decided he would be less likely to get his add kicked if he switched to French horn. :rotfl:

But do I have to support music programs with an instrument that doesn't fit in my car??? :rotfl2:

Okay M.........don't laugh but my mother made me take Cello lessons....Which I hated.:headache:

I was then made to take violin..........which I hated.:headache:

I really wanted to play drums which I was not allowed to play.:sad2:

Have you all seen this???

What fun! Great job on the video and I love the song from Brother Bear too!
Congrats on the new laptop too! Woohoo

Oh get ear plugs or make them practice outside. The recorder is the devil's flute, I swear. My classroom was next to the room that they used for music last year so when the third graders would come in to practice, I thought I was going to rip my hair out. My 3 & 4 year old students kept asking, "What IS that noise?" So, I, being the mature teacher that I am, told them, "Oh they're practicing for the dying cat parade." Needless to say, my students believed me and for the entire year, whenever they heard the recorders, they would just say, "oh, dying cat parade." One of the 4 year olds actually asked me when the parade was. I just laughed. They're so literal. I love it.

Thanks for that - I really enjoyed it and hope everyone in the office did as I kept the volume up. It did however make me a bit teary eyed.

Thanks Roger. :thumbsup2 What a great video!

The HS stadium is REALLY close to my house...so, during football season on Thursday afternoons and Friday nights I can hear the band! :yay: I love the drums in a marching band! :yay:

WOW!!!

I live across the street from a large High School. We LOVE hearing the drumline all day every day it seems like. It is great listening to the football games and the bands from my backyard. :)

that's pretty darn awesome...... thanks for making it and sharing it!

DH and I both played clarinet in jr high and high school. I love marching in half times and parades. It gave me such a thrill when people cheered for us! Of course the last time I played was at my HS graduation 28 years ago.
Alana plays Bass Clarinet and clarinet. Kathryn wants to play flute when she gets into middle school.

Neat!
I also played clarinet (jr high, high school and college). My eldest plays clarinet too. IN fact she played MY clarinet, that I'd played all those years, until she basically tore it up last year. (needless to say- she wasn't nearly as careful with it as I was all those years. Times were different- I knew I wouldn't get another one if I tore it up! It was considered a major luxury to even have that one. Now Ruby owns 4 good quality clarinets this year- courtesy of ebay. LOL Let's see if she can manage to tear up all 4 in the next 4yrs -we'll see...) She's played 6-8th grade and this year is in highschool (marching band and all that)
I also LOVED band- especially in highschool because marching band was so much more fun than just concert season! Atleast IMO. :)
(Robert can start band next year and wants to play....... guess....... trumpet. Woe is me and my ears the next year or two LOL Well it's either that or percussion and I just didn't think my nerves -or my neighbor's- could take the drums...)

Please pray harder, folks!

I was in a meeting with my pastoral council an hour ago, discussing strategies to help the many flood victims out there, when our parish office rumbled and shook.

Several blocks away, in the flooded area where houses are half-submerged, a house blew up.

Reports are conflicted and varied right now, but we are all praying that no one was near enough to be hurt or killed. The houses in that area have all been evacuated since Sunday, so I am hoping that no one was inside.

Anyway, please keep our communities in your prayers as we try to work through this massive flood.

Many thanks.
Thanks for the update. Continued prayers!

I guess I could wait til next July to go to WDW or DL.:rolleyes1

I've told Claire that there is no way that we are ever going to WDW on either her b-day (July 1st) or mine! July is too darn HOT! LOL!

I wonder where I was when John was talking to Cpatain Tom. :confused3 :confused3 Captain Tom was probably hiding from me.:lmao: :lmao:

Maybe we were getting another drink at the time? Or was that when John went to go get a couple of drinks for you? He couldn't find you so I took one off his hands! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I know what you mean about the kids not realizing what a privileged life they have. :sad2:
My father was in the Navy for 20yrs -- an enlisted person NOT an officer -- and always worked a second job. McDonalds (when we lived in IL), convience store (New Orleans) and real estate (TX -- he made more money in his part time job then he did in his full time one for those years! LOL!)
I got my first job (working in an Ice Cream shop after school) at 14. When I turned 15 I started working at M.E. Moses 5 & 10!
When I asked if I could try out for drill team I knew it was with the understanding that I had to pay for everything. And I did...my uniform, summer camp, pom poms....everything.
And if I didn't take care of my stuff I had no way to earn that much money again to buy more! LOL!
