ROFL!!!! Goodness those were the days, eh? I still can't believe how many posts we had on the original thread BEFORE bookings even opened up for this cruise on 1/31/07. :surfweb:

Those really were the days! It was a truly amazing time and the beginning of one heck of ride. It is so hard to believe that what was once over 18 months away is now almost here!

ETA - sitting here thinking about this made me think of this old Beatles song - I think it sums up this time rather well:

There are places i'll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends i still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life i've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When i think of love as something new
Though i know i'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know i'll often stop and think about them
In my life i love you more

Wow with all of the groundhog fluff, I had to check. I thought y'all were running for a pirate:

Terri....your dd is adorable! And btw, my ds convinced my dd to eat something much worse than dirt when she was about that age.:scared1:

As my niece would say "ew". :scared1: :scared1:

:lmao:
That's in my photobucket too!

:lmao: I didn't remember anyone here knowing about that...it was a DIS geek thing and I knew that K and Todd would never let it go without making sure I had seen it. I was talking about that beer marinated roast recipe someone had shared. LOL!

Yeah,a few of us weren't geeks, but we've been around forever!

Hope you had a great day.

Thank you Chrisse

Thank You everyone who was gracious to create the navigators and the room list. You are truly creative.

Hi Debi - We are from Morris county which some people consider Northern Jersey and others say Central Jersey.

Really now, is New Jerey really big enough to split in 3???:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

All I know is there is NO confusion with Cape May being South Jersey.:rolleyes1

Caroline, all I know is that if anyone in your neck of the woods doesn't know where you are they will call out the National Guard. :lmao: Talk about memories. Her DH didn't know about us internet people at the time we met her and K in Baltimore. Her DH was out of town...I think he was out of the country at the time...and her MIL chose that day to call her and of course was not able to track her down. That bad girl snuck out of town in the early morning hours with her poor innocent children to meet some of us out of state. :rotfl: Of course K brought her own spies with her. We had met her before for dinner in MD but her DH and DD joined us and made sure that they stayed far enough back in the crowd so they wouldn't be in any pictures but close enough to still keep an eye on her.

I can't believe how many posts we had on booking day! I distincly remember waking up at 3:30 am Alaska time and "working from home" that day.

We were actually one of those posts on booking day. I didn't know a lot about the DIS or this thread but I did jump on to say that we had gotten a room. Our Panama Canal journey began two weeks before booking day when I received an email from our TA about the Mexican Riveria cruises. We thought it'd be fun to do one and visit Disneyland for the first time. We generally spend most of our vacations in Florida, so thought we'd try the Westcoast. Well after we looked at the prices for the 7 night Mexican Riveria's compared to the repo cruise, we called our TA back and told her we'd changed our minds and wanted to book the repo cruise instead. We told her that we wanted connecting Cat 8 or 9 staterooms (preferably Cat 8). We did not join in on the booking madness, but just sat back and waited for the email from our TA. About an hour after booking began, she emailed me to let me know she had us reserved for two connecting Cat 8's but would email us later with the detail. Late that night we got the email with a courtesy hold on a Cat 4 as well (we never asked for that).

Our booking day was truly hassle-free and stress-free thanks to our TA. I was so excited that I came onto the DIS to see if anyone else had booked a room. I was so naive! At least I can say I posted on that original mammoth thread!

You may want to hold off a few more years....I distinctly remember being in a hotel room with 5 friends on a skating trip when I was 15, all of us with our hair in pretty little buns...and cutting/shaving stripes into the sides of our heads between the bottom of hairlines to above the top of our ears.

Our moms were not happy. :sad2:
:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
I am really thinking of putting all scissors in our safe! It is not just hait that she cut that day either.:rolleyes1 There is a reason little kids are so cute...

LOL! Your naivity really did keep you from the booking madness. I swear we all wanted to kill that darn beast on booking day! pirate:

Caroline, I thought that K was done with the hair cutting mess. She clipped off a hunk at the top of her head in Kindergarten because it got twirled up in a toy and instead of asking me for help...just pop the top off to get it out...she cut it out herself with less than an inch left on her head. :( She did it another time on a smaller scale. Imagine my feelings when I walked in on her just a couple weeks ago with a handful of hair. :( :( :( She thought that if she clipped her hair it would grow back when she put water on it. :sad2: I had to even out the rest of her previously grown out bangs. They are just to the point where she can tuck them behind her ears now. OY!

I was there on booking day - but as a lurker - I didn't post until a couple of weeks later!! Just after my B'ay in Feb. "What a long strange trip it's been" (The Grateful Dead) Mostly a Really Fun trip its been from then until now - and here we are close to embarking and we have new pirates joining in - we are all just going to have too much FUN!!!!!

I was just looking today during lunch for my 1st post. I know it was before 01/31/07 because I was taking a bet on how many pages we would add on 01/31.
I have been on the DIS for over 8 years! Seems hard to believe.

I forgot the most important thing I got checked off my list today- bought trip insurance! Been meaning to do that for a year and a half. :sad2:

My dad just moved down to McAleen a coupleof weeks ago -- I told him old people were only supposed to spendthe winters there not the sumers! :rotfl2:

Wanted to share what I just got done creating............. I went to Ac Moore today and got some foam & rhinestones at affordable prices.

Great job! :thumbsup2

Well, the weekend was just as crazy busy as expected. Grandma's party went really well - she seemed to have a wonderful time. There was a reception at her church from 11:30 to 3:00 and there was a constant stream of people nearly the entire time. We got her to take a nap after that and then at 5:00 the out-of-town family all came to her house for another party and dinner. She was still going strong when we left around 8:30 - we live 60 miles away, so we didn't get home until after 10pm.

Poor DH had to leave the house at 5AM this morning to catch his flight to Texas. He was flying from Chicago to Houston and then Houston to McAllen. He had about 1.25 hours to make the connections, but storms in Chicago delayed the takeoff by nearly an hour. He and his co-worker RAN to try and make the next flight, but they got to the gate about 2 minutes after they closed the door. The plane hadn't even backed up yet - but they wouldn't let them on. You would think that Continental would know they have people making the connection and hold the doors open a couple minutes longer. Fortunately, they were able to get onto the next flight stand-by (about 3 hours later) and he is now in McAllen. He missed his afternoon meetings, but should be able to get a good night's sleep!

I don't think I have a chance of being able to ketchup! I missed 30 pages yesterday - I'll skim every 3rd page or something and move on :rotfl2:

Pamela

It looks like your grandmother had a wonderful day!!
It's a shame your dh had such a horrible travelling day! My dad's in McAllen!

I am in a N. Dallas suburb. I qualify for the bumper sticker that says " I was not born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could".Born and raised in New Mexico and moved to Texas for college and never left. :)

I have a Dentist appt bright and early tomorrow. This weekend I had a sharp unexpected pain in a tooth for hours. It finally went away but was a pain (literally). I mentioned it to DH and he said same thing happened to him. He thinks the acid from the pineapple we ate did it.:confused3 Anyway, if they want to put a crown on-I'm not. No way I want a temporary for the trip. I could go to my old Dentist that makes the crowns in her office while you wait but I have better things to spend $1500.00 on.

My dad used to have one of those bumper stickers! :thumbsup2

I hope your tooth feels better soon.

My youngest dd will only have 2 pairs of shoes -- and none will look good with her dinner clothes :sad2: She has really wide & think feet. I'm lucky if Stride Rite has even 1 pair of shoes that fit her :sad2: They are wider then an extra wide and just really thick -- like boxes.

:rotfl: 12 yrs ago I drove 3 1/2 hrs south to spend the weekend with 4 other women that I had met on an AOL SAHM board. None of us had met each other before.
We gave DS the money for him & a friend to drive to Ashville, NC to spend a week with firends he and dh had made online gaming. :goodvibes

Those are just some of the bigger trips we've made to met online friends!

OK, just bring up in Mail? I have had my IPhone for almost a year and know nothing about it. You don't happen to have the instructions handy on doing the DCL ringtone you posted earlier do you?

It brings up the mail fine, but when I tap on the attachment, it loads it, but crashes the iPhone on page 4 of the full Navigator.

Ringtones:

Find the tune you want in iTunes.
Select it and right click 'Get Info'
Click on 'Options' and select a 30 second, or less clip from the tune.
Right click and select 'Convert selection to AAC' - this will create a new tune in your library
From the 'File' menu - click on 'Show in Windows Explorer'
Copy this file somewhere safe - I keep a folder just for ringtones.
Then go to the Windows control panel and in 'Folder Options' unselect 'Hide extensions for known file types'
Rename the file you saved from filename.m4a to filename.m4r
Double click on the renamed file - itunes will import it as a ringtone which you can then sync with your phone.

My first post on this thread (sorta..)
1/19/07 #521 - pg 35 of the first thread:

Hi everybody!
WOW!! 35 pages for a cruise that we can't even officially book yet - I'm impressed. I only got through page 3, so far (girl's gotta work some time).

We are on THE LIST for the EB Repo. Anyone know what time booking starts on Wed.?? We are 4 hours earlier than FL time. Is my cell phone gonna ring at like 2 am??

Anyway the sk8fam is me, DH, and the DSs who will be 8 & 9-10 (birthday on board!) when we sail. It will be our 3rd DCL trip. I'm SOOOOOO excited!
It is a sad fact that I have no idea where my family will be living in 6 months (DH is military), but I'm planning a vacation more than 18 months away! DH thinks I'm nuts, I call it a coping mechanism.

Bumper Sticker Wisdom for the day:

My Hockey Mom can beat up your Soccer Mom

:lmao: :lmao:
My friend who picked up my kids from hockey camp has it on her car. I love it!

While I think it is slightly humorous, I would not support the: "My Hockey Player can beat up your Honor Student" sticker, I love my friend's - "My Hockey Player Is an Honor Student"

:rotfl: 12 yrs ago I drove 3 1/2 hrs south to spend the weekend with 4 other women that I had met on an AOL SAHM board. None of us had met each other before.

So, should I add you to the list of...umm..."guests"...for our return to our Alaska house??

- we really do have a guest suite in that house - private room, private bath, access to the hot tub.

Was all of that really 2 years ago??? DH really didn't know of 'those internet people' til the day of the cruise.:rolleyes1 I do remember Andy and Devon spying from a far. :lmao: oh, BTW, it was my own mother who for some reason was worried when she couldn't reach me. Go figure. My MIL speaks about 3 words of English.:goodvibes
