Are they sure it was a deer tick....? Deer ticks are like microscopic and you can't really see them. You do see the large red spot if there's a bite though. If it was a large enough tick to see and pull out it probably was a regular brown spotted tick. No lyme in those i think...

I used to have to do field work outdoors in the woods. OMG:scared1: :scared1: i was on a couple sites where my co-worker and i stripped before we got back in the cars and we still were finding ticks three days later.
Wetland areas were the worst.

Help help help!! Haven't been as active on these boards as I wanted...had a lot of very stressful time consuming things happen last few months. Well, now it all takes the cake.

1) DD9 starts limping really badly. Took her to docs, have xray done. She has a bone deformity called a coalition - a painful bone deformation. surgery is the cure. DH had his heart mitral valve repaired two years ago - we only had my mom and I as caregivers. Full open heart surgery. It was easily a full year recovery - full year of me bring in charge of all...Of course her surgery won't be so scary, but, hey, its my kid and I know I will further age 20 years in one year. At best, she can walk a lot, at worse, since we will delay surgery, she wil be in portable splint, or wheel chair. She is a completely active child, so it will behard for her!! Luckily, its not too painful if she stays off of it.

2) DS12 comes back from Scout Camp. Had a blast. Gotten bitten by a deer tick. Incubation time for Lyme disease symptoms beginning are now until a week after we board the ship. I am thinking of taking him to our doc and getting the meds now, and if he begins to get ill, have the doc on board monitor him. He could give me the go ahead to give the drug, couldn't he?

Any of you brilliant wonderful people personal experts on Lyme disease? What I have read, it looks like we are totally hosed. I THINK, tho, they got the tick off fast. Area where they were camping is one of the highest in the US for lyme disease...:sad2:

He will be in my prayaers and hopefully he will be fine.

DH, DS (12) and I will be joining you on the cruise. Just canceled our excursion to Sea Life Park in Puerto Vallarta resulting in changes to plans in Cabo and Acapulco as well.

Glad that you're aboard!

I just finished packing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:dance3: :yay: :dance3: :cool1: :cool1: :cheer2: :cheer2:

What are you going to do that morning? We plan to go to Medano beach by land taxi (so I don't have to exit into the water) and get glass bottom boat tour of Los Arcos and maybe check out Lovers Beach. We have never been to Cabo as you know we skipped that port last time so I really want to see some of the sights which is why I prefer an earlier excursion.

The most disappointing part of that cruise was missing Cabo, we have never been there either. However, my parents have a condo within walking distance of the marina where we will tender so we plan to be off the ship early and walk around the marina and over to Solmar beach to see their property. We would rather walk around and see the sights early while it is cooler and then we will be ready to get in the 55 degree water to swim with the dolphins!

Shawn got his new heart!!!!
:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

OK, that means nothing to you...DS9 has a good buddy from Alaska who was born with a heart defect. Great kid, great family. DS's entire K class and most of the school did the local Heart Walk and the school still does it every year for Shawn. Towards the end of 1st grade, Shawn was accepted into the heart transplant program at Stanford. We did fundraisers, we've send cards, we've prayed. FOR TWO AND A HALF YEARS of his 9 years, Shawn and his mom have been LIVING at the Ronald McDonald House in CA waiting for a heart (while his dad & 2 sisters stayed in Alaska). Two and a half years!!

Of course, we all know that a family had to go through the unthinkable in order for this to happen. Shawn's donor was 7 years old.

I read the article to DS this morning. He looked and DH and me & went to get us tissues.

...[ed]...

This was simply beautiful for the family receiving the transplanted heart....
and sad for the losing family in the same moment!

I don't know how all you people do it who are finished packing. I'll have to do my laundry the day before I leave so that I can pack up what I am taking with me.

But, hey, I'm happy for you! :cool2:

By the way, in welcoming you aboard, I think it's only fair to say that there are certain people on this thread that you should consider avoiding and/or ignoring. Captaincrash is tops on the list . . . <ducking and running for cover!!!> :rotfl2:

On another note... we just got in from a last minute dash to Disneyland and CA. The crowds were moderate to light - however, traffic was awful. So it took me a little longer to get there than I had hoped. At any rate - we managed to get in that new Toy Story ride in CA, and we did the California Dreaming movie with Whoopie Goldberg, then caught the Electric Light Parade before running over to DL for a nominal view of fireworks off main street. Before we got in a short 35 minute line for Nemo.

And that's all we had time for from 6:15PM to 11:15PM.... not bad for 5 hours in the parks, eh? On the drive home we stopped in Chinatown and picked up some take out.

So - in the end we fully off loaded the car and have the kids in bed by 1:50AM... this was mildly nuttty to have made the run down to the parks on a friday afternoon, but everyone slept going down and coming home. Plus the drive home in the late evening was mildly pleasant from my POV! The freeways were lite and everything looks so different late nite...

Wow.. just a drive for ya huh? That's the life! :cool1:

I am so hoping those crowds stay a little lighter in two weeks! We only have one day and although I don't want to rush to see everything, I'd like to get a few key things and see a little of DCA. However, with the influx of everyone going on the ship, we might put the park at capacity :)
ditto that!
Although if it's mostly those on the cruise- how cool will that be? talking in lines will be different... "Hi, are you going on the disney cruise too?" :rotfl:

Question; Is there some sort of 12 step program for the deep depression thats going to hit us on Sept. 1???
Support groups???
:grouphug:
IDK if there is one- but I need it. I'm ALREADY preparing myself for deep depression afterwards! :rotfl:

Pretty funny because I think we've been in chat every day this week . . .LOL Wonder if we'll have anything to talk about when we finally meet everyone in person . . .:rotfl2:
Oh I'm SURE we'll think of something.......
or atleast I will. Count on me! :rotfl:

There is a place here I can get black or white gloves for around $6. Do you want me to pick some up for you?
Wait a minute- hold up there.. you're helping is gonna make ME the only one without gloves! She's my short dress/tiara but no gloves twin!!!!!!!!!

Faith, hope, and pixie Dust, and I leave the packing to the wife........popcorn:: :laundy:
My husband follows this philosophy. He's setting out clothes already for ME to pack before *I* leave even though HE won't be leaving until later in the week after us! The nerve...... LOL

ATTENTION!

Repeat:
All print goods will be available for you ta download and print yerself. Please add this to yer list of things to do before ya shove off!
So noted..... might need to buy some more ink for our printer, eh? :lmao:

Most here probably have seen this, but Disneyland ticket prices are going up tomorrow. One day tickets are increasing by $3, two day tickets by $11 and longer stays are going up by $10.

ack!
I did not know DL was going up too. shoot I better buy Jeff's ticket now.

Any idea how far the markets are from the port? This is one port we don't have anything booked either.

The flea market is quite close about 5> 10 mins walk from where the ship is, Basically where the Magic will dock will be right across the road from the Fort. Between the Port building and the fort is a busy dual carriageway road, there is a footbridge across this road to the fort, which is on a hill.

Now the flea market is directly behind this hill.

You can go either way, either turn right out of the port, walk around the fort, then turn left,
Or Go left out of the port, cross the dual carriageway at the lights, turn the next big road right, and you will hit the market.

The issue is I do not know when it opens, I think it will be post 9.00am unless they know we are in.

If you look at this attachment the market is at the top, the little shops have hexagonal roofs on them and there are a lot of trees in between them which can be seen on this map.

Well....

... perhaps not quite BIP. I sort of glossed how I actually left the house at 3:15.... not a good thing since I was trying to get out of the house by 2:30 to avoid a little traffic AND get into a part way there position. I was driving to meet Alicia about 20% of the way there (and rest a little before continuing) ... switch cars to be in one car when Alicia finished her appointments .... then drive the remaining 60 miles to Disneyland.

You see... traffic can get REAL BAD in LA... and we sort of live OUT of LA so I rarely drive in traffic anymore ... however, this past friday was an exception... and a bad one at that.

From roughly 4:00 when we finally met up with Alicia an resumed our journey to DL... that 60 mile drive took roughly an hour and 45 minutes to get into DL... park and be ON the tram. I found it to be mildly exhausting... while everyone else generally slept on the drive.

THEN.. coming homw we were onthe tram coming home a bit after 11PM... stopped for take out .... then finished off loading the kids with me sitting at the computer DISing at 1:50AM. It took roughly 2 hours and 40 minutes to ride the tram - get home - and finish getting into the house completely.

That's roughly 6 hours of transit time for 5 hours inside the park. If i had been on time it might have been more like 5 hours transit time for 6 hours in the park.... in part because Alicia would have met us sooner to leave too.

So ... yeah... it was fun to go ....but it was just barely at my tolerance for energy and time expended to get as much time as we had there.

Put another way... Alicia and I had that serene happy glance into one anothers' eyes as we savored a moment with our younger daugther JUMPING WILDLY while SCREAMING .....

"MICKEY!!!
MICKEY MOUSE!!!!

LOOK OVER HERE it's MICKEY MOUSE!!!!!!

So yeah...

.... although it was only 5 hours there... this moment at the Electric Light parade with our happy screaming children made the trip entirely worth it! Especially for my dear spouse who slept for half the drive going there and returning.

OK... I gotta step out now... I promised my daughter a Bakugon for having swam good races yesterday at her swim meet in the morning so I have to make a good faith effort to try and find her these IMPOSSIBLE (always sold out .... snicker -snicker-snicker) to FIND toys today ....

I maintain that I am perpetually INNOCENT in my actions and motives....

edited in....

Here is a photo taken by a DISNEY PHOTOGRAPHER at California Adventure last friday. Alicia was not with us at the moment ... so it was just me and the 2 kids: http://www.disneyphotopass.com/ and use password DLRA-73Q7-N4W9-D7X7

Well... I'm now loooking at the 2 photos on this disneyphoto pass thing and I'm NOT SURE if anyone else can view the photo? If so ... you'll have to open an account (no charge) and click the password to try and load these photos up and view.
Naturally, I was unable to "RIP" a copy of the image from Disneys' photo preview page.

Hmmm...I never got a PM about the 8:30 AM pickup time, I did read it here though :confused3

Yes you did - I sent a pm confirming that I received payment for the bus and noted that the pick-up time was 8:30 and I would update everyone when I got more info from Coach Skyline - the buses we're using!!! Although I didn't mention the name of the bus company at that time.

Thanks Andrew! If we were to go to the fort, do you know if there is a back exit to the market? :) I have visions of us trying to get to the Colisseum in Rome by trying to go around the Victorio (sp?) Emmanuel monument... I have nightmares of that thing from last summer.

I added this map above now showing the roads that exit the fort, ( pararell to Av Morelos) you can walk down that and turn right.(Av Juan R esc)
