8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #12

Sorry. LAP looks like will be 8/28 since I would hope they wouldn't do that while we are going through the PC. :confused3 APL would fall on 8/21. So those days probably won't be available for breakfast in Parrot Cay. Now that is only if DCL follows their traditional logical predetermination for the CB. Lately, you can't seem to trust DCL to be logical so this may just be pure speculation. Savy? pirate:

So do we know for sure that they're going back to the regular rotational dining?
Ours for the Mexican Riviera was something like LAAPLAP....8 pm It's so confusing! But they did it to accommodate three dining times in the 3 restaurants.

If anyone feels up to it..we in chat...
Oh man, that post was right before mine but I'm just now seeing it! I bet everyone isn't in chat THIS late huh? LOL

They are obligated to have them or upgrade us. :) There are some selections that are not available on their site so they do take them out as an option when their supply runs out. I would imagine they have a number of vehicles running back and forth between PC and MCO each day the ships are in port.
I just hope their idea of upgrade is my idea of upgrade. Because my idea is not a smaller but more fancier vehicle.. I'd rather have the junkiest minivan they have- to fit all of us and our luggage! than a luxury vehicle. KWIM? LOL

BIP - First, I wouldn't worry about what other people think. :) You're going on this trip to have a wonderful time with your family. To heck with what a bunch of "strangers" think. You've always got the Pirates at your back. pirate: I know I'm fairly new to this board, but everyone seems so open and accepting, I can't imagine wearing the "wrong" shirt to dinner is going to matter to any of us.

However, I do have a bunch of clothes I'm getting rid of. PM me your size, if you don't mind, and I'll tell you if I have anything for you. It's all in my garage right now, so I can wash it and ship it out this week if we think it'll work. I think there are a couple of formal-ish dresses in there too. LMK :)
Aw thanks- you're so sweet!
I'll send you a pm. I"m hard to shop for- that is the problem! I've even tried goodwill twice recently..... I can find lots of stuff but finding stuff that FITS is the problem. LOL
I can send you my measurements- that would probably be easier than a size. Sizes are so weird nowadays! I mean come on- medium capris? (8/10) No way I'm a size 8/10. Atleast not what 8/10 was in the old days. I used to wear size 8 when I weighed 115lbs! (I'm very short btw) and I'm way way way WAY heavier than that now. LOL I've tried on things in all sizes and none of it fits- it's like every brand has their own sizing policy or something. :(
Thanks for your offer..... I don't know if you'll have anything that might fit me but we'll see and it sure was nice of you to make such an offer!

I have no idea why it ended up giving me the higher price but after a phone call and my CC info it is all set. It was worth it for me to call them and do that for the deal. :thumbsup2
Definitely worth it. And can't thank you enough for posting about the minivan and the price you got...... your post is what prompted me to do the rental. Thanks!

pirate: ing since my "own" computer is still down for the count.

Happy Belated Birthday Tina!!!

Sorry I missed it...was out of town.
Hey there! Sure am missing ya!

Ah I see your problem - my Mum is in a similar situation, she hasn't worked since she had me and hates to dress up. She was going to skipped the formal and semi-formal nights so I took her to the local $2 thrift store and bingo - "new" pants and with a nice shirt she already had she's sorted.

I think if anyone is rude enough to comment on what you are wearing, you'd be well within your rights to ask to have them removed from the dining room and thrown overboard! As long as you meet Disney's dress code for the dining rooms then by all means, wear what you are comfortable in.
I only hate to dress up because I have nothing to wear, can't seem to find anything that fits, and I'm bigger than I feel/etc. (yes I literally still get disgusted looking in the mirror- if I avoid mirrors I'm fine though LOL cause I don't FEEL that big. It's so hard to explain.......)
I have issues with pants.... I'm so short, and have a big huge butt and big huge thighs- but my waist is not big. Apparently they think if your butt is that big and your thighs are that big- you must have a huge gut. Well guess what- I don't. That's not my body shape. So I either have things that fit my waist and are tight on butt/thighs (please don't stare and laugh if by the end of the cruise some of my capris are tight in those areas LOL) or if they fight nicely (not tight at all) on my butt and thighs then they are HUGE HUGE HUGE at the waist- like so ridiculous there is no way I can wear them. So I do well with capris that can be synched at the waist with a tie or have elastic waist.
Shirts are another story.... I've outgrown most of my shirts. I'm still short (Obviously LOL) but I've "thickened" up quite a bit in the shoulders, arms and uh..... chest area. I was never that big in the chest before having kids! LOL So shirts are either tight- or like tents (and either too short or too long and if they are too long- then they are tight on the butt area cause the aforementioned big butt LOL)
But I do have some shirts that "technically" may be tees but they are like dressier tees- you know...... like what you might see in those casual wear magazines I get from time to time (which seems to be all travel wear/travel stuff in there) so they look nice- but if you look close enough you'd realize they really are tee-shaped. KWIM? not sure if they are "blouse" enough. We'll see.
I'm not going to stress about it. I know I'll be within the "dress code" on most nights- I might not be fitting the dress code for formal/semi-formal nights. But in any case- on any night- if I am getting the feeling I"m underdressed compared to everyone else- I'll just opt for other dining areas instead of the dining room. I won't die if I don't eat in the dining rooms though- to be honest I don't have a refined enough palate I don't think- because most nights I was struggling to find anything to order that I thought I'd like or that would taste good to me. The only thing I'd miss is my tablemates & the rest of the "pirates crew" in late dining ofcourse........ but if worst comes to worst- I'll eat elsewhere and hunt you all down as you come out of the dining rooms. LOL I'm determined THIS TIME I'm gonna meet more people and not be all lonely in the evenings once DH goes to bed early like a big baby. LOL

Managed to read back a little ways. At least I'm caught up with this new thread!!

I had to do that too...miss a bit, and have tons of pages to catch up on...I especially had to go back tons to read about the Avis code everyone was talking about. Went to Avis, and their site is down...drats, I will be sure and try tomorrow.

I think I noticed this in past posts, but is there going to be an early walking group onboard the ship? I have been in the habit of walking alot every morning, and I was thinking of keeping it up during the cruise.

I am a Leo too, (Cheryl, for some reason that did not surprise me! :) )
I will be celebrating my birthday on the 21st of our cruise. I would do the Parrot Cay lunch that day, but I will be in Palo celebrating it with DH instead.
:cloud9:

I am hoping to spend this week finishing up SM and FE gifts, and finishing up clothes and shoes shopping. Don't know about school supplies yet, but maybe I can get that done too! :wizard:

So yes...we're back. One more trip to go (niece's wedding, great-uncle's funeral in Nebraska) before the TOAL!! At least I'll be busy. But I really need to start packing.

We had a really great time in Vegas. Mostly just chilled. We had a poolside cabana for the day Saturday and were out there from 10 am to 6 pm. Soooo awesome, what an indulgence...but worth every penny & every second of it. I really needed an escape for a bit and it worked!

Great dinner with Todd & Melissa. Todd and I spoke DIS CODE and Melissa and Jay ignored us.:rotfl: After all the mini-meets, they're used to it by now. That's what they get for not DISing. But hey...someone has to make the money to pay for it all!;)
Welcome back- missed you! But understand you're not really "here" since you're leaving again soon and have to pack/etc.

Glad you had a great time in vegas- you deserved a break!

LOL@ Dis code and the spouses ignoring you. You know that's exactly what DH wll be doing... sitting there daydreaming and ignoring me/whoever else. LOL

SPEAKING OF SWEATSHIRTS/SOMETHING WARMER IN CASE IT'S COOL...

Does anyone have a child named Robert, that could fit in a size Small disney sweatshirt?

I ask because we have one... brand new never worn- but it's personalized with Robert's name on the front. It's red with stitch on the front with "wild" on one side of him and "one" on the other side. The size says small... but it would probably fit around size 8. Well I don't know. I can take measurements for you because all I have to go on is MY kids. It would be too big for my 8yr old daughter and my son COULD wear this right now at age 10 except the arms are too short... but my kids are on the small side for their age. So it might fit a taller/bigger child age 6/7 maybe? It's embroidered ROBERT across the top front chest area. It was ordered personalized from Disney website....... 2yrs ago...... and he never wore it. Just got stuffed in his drawer and honestly we just don't wear long sleeved stuff around here often at all. I went thru their drawers last night to see what I wanted to take, what doesn't fit anymore/etc. and this one the arms are just too short on it. Maybe I have ape armed children- I dunno. Seems when they outgrow longsleeved stuff it's always in the sleeves, not the length of the shirt though. LOL

So anyone think they can use this- I can bring it on the cruise. I'm not sure if anyone has a Robert -or knows one?- in this size range that would like to give this sweatshirt a good home.. poor stitch sweatshirt never got worn! LOL
Robert wanted me to just cut off the sleeves.. I was like you're kidding right? I mean it's new- could go to someone that could use it and besides, is cut off sweatshirts in style or something? Maybe in the gym or something..... but he's just 10. LOL

oh and I also have a few pair of khaki type shorts.
I have one pair that is size 7- but adjustable waist.
and the other pair are size 6 but they are Oshkosh and actually bigger in size than the size 7 I just mentioned!
both are shorts that Robert wore last year when he was 9..... but he was thin and not a TALL kid.... just average sized in his class at school for instance. These would still fit him but he's not on his "skinny" phase... he goes back and forth skinny- then chunks up a bit and then sprouts up in height and gets skinny again. Right now he's in the chunking up phase- just a wee bit- so I'm looking for a growth spurt any minute now, I just hope it's not a huge one right during our 3wk long vacation. LOL Anyway so he can't quite close these in front at the waist (one pr snaps, one pair buttons at the waist)

Anyway, if someone can use these, even if you can't use the Robert stitch sweatshirt- pm me please and I can bring them. they are both like the khaki shorts with the pockets on the legs of the shorts that velco closed and back pockets are the type that are inside. not stitched on the outside. One of the pair the back pockets have button down flaps over the back pockets. Just to describe them a bit more so you would probably know what I mean by that description, right?
Both of them are almost like new- he only wore them maybe once or twice each. These are like the khaki shorts he wore on the cruise last time

Please don't cancel Cabo, please don't cancel Cabo, please don't cancel Cabo

I agree! We love Cabo! Take Acapulco instead!

bermuda's make sense. I'm thinking those harnesses chafe. And I'm picturing the sweaty person in the 12:00 zip before us. :scared1: No offense to the sweaty people.

ummmm....YUCK! we're on the 3:00 tour....sigh....I don't even think lysol wipes will help! LOL

Monica...best wishes on your interview Wednesday!

I hate to dress up because, at least as far as a tux goes - it's not comfortable (especially those shoes - blech). I've been on 8 cruises or so, and have never worn a tux. I think it's great that some people do, and it's good to know how to wear one if you must, but it's just not my style.

For me, casual means slacks and a shirt, semi-formal adds a jacket, and formal adds a tie. That's about as formal as I get. Maybe someday I'll go for a tux on a lark, but this time I decided to spend the rental cost towards one of those cool Olympus underwater cameras everyone's been talking about :cool2:

My point is, this is vacation, and if anyone is offended by my interpretation of "formal" (which is within DCL guidelines), it's their problem and not mine. And I'm not going to let them ruin my vacation or deny me the right to enjoy dinner and the company of fellow pirates. In fact, if they are offended, they should go to Topsiders and Plutos or better yet room service where they can control the dress code of everyone in the room to thier complete satisfaction.

Can someone fill me in please? Why are we talking about missing a port? What did I see about a problem with power on the Magic???
:confused3 :confused3

COLOR ME CLUELESS......

I think I speak for the majority when we say I'm sure we'd rather have you wearing whatever you have rather than have you feel you aren't "formal" enough for the dining room and aren't going to come to dinner.

As far as I can see, "formal" varies from person to person and has huge differences regionally and internationally probably even more so.

This is YOUR vacation - enjoy it and to heck with what others may think!

And if all else fails, you can have dinner with my Mum !!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Was looking at my countdown timer. It says 26 days. I'm gone for 10 of those 26.....so that means I really only have

SIXTEEN MORE DAYS TIL I CRUISE!!!!!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Holey Guacamole I'd best get organized!!!:scared:

Oh my... you prompted me to count days--- so much to do I'm afraid I may run out of time and not get it all done! LOL
I have 21 days till we live- with about 25 days worth of stuff to get done. LOL

Hello All! This is our 1st post, though we have been eavesdropping for years! We are going to be cruising with all of you on the great adventure. We are excited yet slightly apprehensive to jump in to all these posts. You all seem like such close friends, it's a tad intimidating. My DH is Roger and we have two DDs; Brenna 9 and Erin 6. Oh! I'm Melissa.

Thanks for all the tips in the past, oh say 8 or 9 YEARS!!!!!

Hi Melissa,

:welcome: aboard.

I'm sure someone said it already...first page has all the info. If you want, you can go to the piratezone & sign up to be included in the pirate directory.

Cruise Question

Those of you with small children, what excursions do you plan to do at each of the ports?

Right now we just have plans in Cabo (Family Resort & Pool Escape), PV (Paradise Beach Adventure), and Aruba (Seaworld Exploroer). We have a 3.5yo and a 15mo. and options - through DCL - seem rather limited and I'm not sure I'm that comfortable with some of the choices after reading reviews from WBPC and MR cruisers.

Our crew is 10, 8, just 3 and 17 months. Our DCL excursions include the Lands End Cruise in Cabo, Cliff Divers in Acupulco (still very unsure on this one) and the Deluxe Cartagena tour.

In PV, we are planning on hitting a resort for the day on our own and in Aruba, we will probably take a taxi to the butterfly farm or a beach.

I'm not sure how my little guy will handle the heat. I may leave him in Flounders in Acupulco and Cartagena - I'm not sure yet. I'll go with my gut when the time comes.

Double check the use of swim diapers at the Family Resort and Pool Escape in Cabo - I have a vague recollection of their not being allowed at one of the DCL excursions I looked at but I don't remember which one. It was very fine print...

Welcome officially! I have two DDs in the 8-10 age group who will be looking for friends.

Happy Tuesday Everyone.

I agree on the clothes subject. You should wear what you're comfortable in and/or what you have.

Concierge said that the rotation will be LAP, APL, PLA. Of course, everything is subject to change :lmao:

Im too lazy to count , whats the final count :confused3

pirate:

I'm not sure pirates can count that high anyway.

Here are some of the pictures Caro & I took this weekend with Esteri & DISFreaks

Looks like fun!

Half the stuff I'm taking is "disposable" - I already have the nearest Goodwill Store details printed as we'll be dropping off a lot of the clothing following the cruise. Most of my "dining" wear is ex-work tops that I don't like much anymore. One way trip for those.

I also stock pile underwear during the year that is destined for one last trip - saves doing washing while away - just wear and throw it away when done.

Works well for shoes too - if they have holes or I just don't like them any more, I wear them until I find a new pair I like and then either throw them away if they have really had it or leave at the nearest thrift store if they are still wearable.

Now see, that is so practical!
I am the complete opposite. New socks, new unders, new shirts, new pants, new shoes for the entire family. I guess I have some irrational fear that the kid's grungy socks will ruin my vacation photos. :confused3

So I'm a shoe person too and I don't know if 5 pairs is going to get me through 15 days! As I lay all my outfits out in my mind, I'm not seeing a lot of overlap in shoes. My formals are two different styles and require different pairs, my other dresses are different colors......aye! I'm not sure what I'm going tp do about shoes. I wonder if I have enough "dressy" flip flops that I don't have to bring heels at all. Hmmmmm....

One pair of beige heels. It's not perfect, but everything goes with foot color.

Welcome aboard - just jump in, we don't bite (unless you ask nicely!) :rotfl:

:lmao:
Unless you have cake.

I rowed in college too :cool1: Had to quit because I broke too many oars, well that and I transferred to Montana where they don't do that much rowing.

Ok that's three.
Boy are we in trouble.

We didn't have crew at my school. Our river is too crooked. I thought I would have made a great coxswain - loud, bossy, and 95 lbs.

Just checking on storm names to make sure Tom was not on the list this year. Looks like we are safe  But then I checked the 2010 list and guess what Earl and Tomas (Thomas). :sad2: I say we schedule a reunion cruise for 2011.

Gosh it disturbs me to see you Gaston...

ITA. We dress up. We like to dress up. But I really couldn't care less about what everone else is wearing, as long as things that are supposed to be covered are covered and they appear clean.

Lisa - you're up early! Couldn't sleep?

Lisa and I usually have the early shift.
