DD wants me to tell you that she thinks you have a very cute doggie. :)

I am considering packing up some outfits for the kids in the next couple weeks. I use the ziplock packing plan so that they don't get mismatched and we end up with a bunch of items that cannot be coordinated no matter how much we try. LOL! They have enough clothes to wear without those and I do not want to end up doing laundry the day before we leave. This is the first time we have not cruised in December where I just packed as I put the summer clothes away in October, so this is a new experience for us.

Thanks. We are pretty fond of the animals too.
I realized the girls are too big for the gallon bags of clothes anymore. It was nice while it lasted. I still pack all undergarmets in plastic bags. No TSA hands on personals that way.;)

One similar, but wholly unrelated thought. As we are travelling in foreign countries you may want to consider taking a picture of your whole family before leaving in the morning. Then if, God forbid, you get separated, there is a record of what everyone was wearing and a picture the police can use to help reunite you

A very sobering but sensible suggestion.

I use the 2 gallon bags for DS's outfits. I found them at WM.

For some reason I am starting to get panicky about the next 5 weeks.
...My house/animal sitter called and said she will not be here on the day we leave. She is bringing over her friend that will take over for her that day but she was our ride to the airport so now that is gone. We are debating asking a neighbor (who has offered many, many times) or get a Super Shuttle.
I am still working on clothes and the cool door signs may be a "no-go". Also, I have no fish extender.
Is reality hitting anyone else about now? :scared:

Dont forget the TOAL to do list of things to remember (papers, etc.)

When the kids were little(r), we did it at WDW, Seaworld, etc. every day.

Nothing worse than that panic when you lose track of a loved one!

Very good idea. I think I will defintely do that before Cartegena.

I have those too but found them kind of a hassle since they were too big.

Thanks Paula. I sent DCL an e-mail a while back. Haven't heard yet.
They allow golf clubs, so I don't know why they wouldn't allow hockey sticks.

Because they have golf excursions but no hockey excursions?

How discriminatory.

I may be wrong but they need to account for baggage weights of certain sizes because they load the luggage area of each plane by weight. Back to physics...4 bags of 60lbs in the front of the plane and 4 bags of 30 lbs in the back of the plane means the front is heavier. They need to balance 2 bags of each for example to make sure that each luggage zone is even and the plane can handle it. If you have ever been on a small propeller plane and seen the flight attendant walk up the aisle counting the people, she/he is doing a weight calculation - to make sure the pilots are comfortable with the balance of the aircraft. I've been on small planes where they told me I could sit "in this seat, that seat or this one, but nothing behind row 4 and not on the OTHER side of the aisle!"

Unfortunately, there was a plane crash a few years ago that was the result of overloading a luggage area on a small commuter plane; the plane took off, only to climb straight up and then crash. That was a tiny 19 seater and it was also attributed to a maintenance issue...those ground crews usually know what they are doing - even though they all look like Samsonite luggage testers, throwing bags around in attempts to see what they can break.

DH worked for a luggage handler at OIA and remember the handlers have to lift each piece thru the xray machine and then onto the luggage carrier,so if it is overweight it just makes the job harder.

Being on vacation a couple of weeks ago really showed me that my "back-ups" are just not "up-to-speed". I came back to a lot of issues I had to end up taking over. That means that I am going to have to work way more the next 5 weeks to get the particuraly needy clients taken care of so they can last w/ out me for 2 weeks. I normally work part-time so that is out for a while.
I had the idea last night of laying out the outfits for the girls and taking digital pictures of them. That way even though I cannot pack their clothes now, it will make it easier when I do pack. Print out a sheet of the outfits and put them in the suitcase.

Yes I have been in panic mode for a week now.:scared1:

Good point.

Dont forget the TOAL to do list of things to remember (papers, etc.)

Also make copies of your passport and leave some home so if you lose it they can fax it to you.

Yummy chili fries

OK...Now we need a photo to go with that....Oooo Desi :rolleyes1

I went out and picke dup a travel scale at Target. It's pretty small, but it weighs up to 50 pounds.

Yet another reason to keep track of Mike's cabin #....

Our bank will not take rolled coin anymore!

:scared1: GET OUT.... We have Chevy Chase bank here that has coin counters that anyone can use (even if you don't have an account there.) I used it all the time when i was the honor system vending queen at our office.

I guess I might not have told everyone, or it may have been missed.

 How sad.... What's wrong with people?

Good Morning pirate: s. Wish me luck today.

Uh :confused3 Luck....

Yeah right in the jaw....OUCH :headache:

I have door magnet stuff and can make some but i don't want to burn through too much printer ink since i need that for resumes.

With DD gone for the next 4 weeks, (goes to camp this Sunday) we can use her room during the week for staging some packing. (She does come home between sessions though every Saturday morning till Sunday morning)

I realized the girls are too big for the gallon bags of clothes anymore.

Yes the 2 gal or extra large ones work great. DD is using a bunch or them to pack for camp. Great for keeping out bugs and yick. I even saw some at the dollar store.

Full swing planning here...Got all my dinner wear together and did pretty good with the mix 'n match. All together my dinner clothes, gowns and all, weigh 7 1/2 pounds. Thought that was pretty good.

Good Morning pirate: s. Wish me luck today.

Good Luck!!!!

I can't sleep.
Tomorrow is going to be a long day.
The investigators will finally be done (we think) with my friend's house and we're going to go in salvage what we can. From what we've heard, it's an ugly scene...but we want to remove any "icky" trace of the victim before her family goes in.
I am so not looking forward to this at all. Duh...another idiot remark. Who would be?
DD Jordan wants to go because she's thought of a career in forensics. This might be just what she needs to see to decide. I'm told the family pets are still in the house.

I guess I might not have told everyone, or it may have been missed. This is a link to what happened. My friend owns the house, her son lives there and the young woman who was killed was his roommate...not girlfriend by any means...just roommate.

How Horrible....:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

With the airlines cracking down on over-weight luggage fees, I went out and picke dup a travel scale at Target. It's pretty small, but it weighs up to 50 pounds. If you're looking for one, they stock them near the luggage, and it cost $9.54. If it saves me from an over-weight baggage fee, it will be worth it.

I picked one up a while back on-line. I have a feeling it will be getting plenty of use this trip

BTW Do we have a Fred cruising with us????? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 ;)

Nothing worse than that panic when you lose track of a loved one!

I can attest to that. :( Thankfully DD was found quickly, along with another little girl who was at the hotel pool by herself.

K, hope your DD has fun at camp.:goodvibes

She said thanks Paula.... She is doing a CIT (counselor in training) seesion for GS camp in Leesburg , VA.

It's an OK camp but only about 15 miles south of Frederick so fairly easy to pickup/drop off.

Hopefully she learns a thing or two while away.:rolleyes1 At least DH and I will get a break.

Didn't opt for the boot camp instead?

I've tried to make it clear that the FE exchange should be as TRULY "hassle free" as possible . . . believe me, what people give out varies widely and no one keeps track of it, especially with so many participants. This should be fun, not a competition . . .

You HAVE done an AWESOME job with this! Thanks for all the work you have done! :cheer2:
This FE list is FUN! :thumbsup2

pirate: For the Pirate Zone Kids list how do they (mods) know the kids signing up are "our" kids? :confused3
How is this different than the list here if "anyone" can join the Pirate Zone?
I guess I am asking are the people signing up checked to be sure they are on the cruise?
I hope this makes sense-LOL;)
One of my DDs just signed up.
