Hi -

Okay - I now realize I should have done this while I was still in SoCal -- BUT - I didn't.

I need to have someone check out the supermarkets near DL (and maybe alternately if there are any close to the port). Generally = how big are they and since we have 4 buses perhaps 2 should stop and one and 2 stop at another.

The Pirate Bus(s) will make a 15-20 min. stop to pick up "Refreshments" (aka - booze - oh and maybe soft drinks!!)

The issue is that the bus company has made an exception for us w/the transfer from hotel to port - normally they do not stop - or if they stop they charge an additional hour!! Thus, we need to be making a Quick stop!!

I think Roger had posted a map w/store locations.

THANKS so much - (TIA)

Real Cruise Questions

Hey everyone...I have some questions that I hope you can help me with. I have been on line most of the day, and still can't find all of the answers I currently seek....Maybe you can help. :surfweb:

1. What is the dress-code like for non formal dining? Esp. for children.

2 Does DCL have beach towels for use onboard?

3. Extra fee for the gym?

4. How do you possibly pack enough for 4 people for this type of cruise? If you figure in daytime and evening clothes...that's 30 outfits for each person.

5. Last....for now-what time is chat on Friday nights?

Thanks,
Carol
Hi Carol:yay:
1. dress-code is more about what not to wear (no swim suits or casual shorts)- The plan for us is DH and DS to wear docker style pants (tan or black) and shirts with collars and DD and I will wear skirts/capris/slacks (mostly neutral colors) and nice tops. Plus sandals. The idea with neutral color bottoms is for mix and match flexibilty. Also plan to change back into casual clothes after dinner to try and keep the dinner clothes clean as long as possible (not likely for long-we're a messy bunch:rolleyes: ). That's the plan..but it could change when we get on the ship ;)

2.Yes
3.No
4. mix and match and laundry (at least once)
5. 9 pm EST

Ok, I'm back and have a shiny new iPhone 3G :cool1:

I arrived at the local AT&T store around 6:45am (they opened @ 8am today) and was the 21st person in line. The 75 min wait was cold as the fog was down to the ground.

At 8am they started taking customers in 5 at a time. You were only allowed to buy one phone per person.

After the 10th person went in, the manager came out and said they only had 21 phones left. By the time they got to me, they were down to 1 black 16G, 2 white 16Gs and seven 8G's. I lucked out and took the remaining black 16G.

I went in, paid me $$ and was out of the store by 9:30.

Andy

PS Where's Todd? pirate:

Congrats! I'm glad it was ashort wait for you!

I can't remember what I paid for my dress, but I remember my goal was to spend less than $1,000 on everything I was wearing - gown, veil, shoes, magical underwear, make-up, etc. I'm the only girl & married young - that was the only part of the wedding that we paid for. I'm spoiled, I'll admit it. princess:

Funny thing - we were living in Kodiak, Alaska at the time (no internet, no bridal shops) so I flew home to Ohio to shop for a dress. I found one (in 2 hours or less!) and left it at my parents house since we were getting married in Ohio. By the time the wedding rolled around, I couldn't remember what my dress looked like!!! I remember 10 days before our wedding, standing in front of the closet in my old bedroom with my hand on the doorknob, praying that when I opened the closet I would still like the dress!!

:rotfl: I have no idea how much DD's dress cost it seemed to me that we just kept giving her money! :rotfl: :rotfl: The last time she came to us for more money I told dh to tell her no! LOL! I know that my MIL gave her a $5,000 check that was supposed to cover the cost of the dress.....

I didn't have a *real* wedding and even when we had our church wedding years later I didn't buy a new dress...... I think I didn't want to spend the money since we were paying for our son's college education at the time! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:
Dh will tell you that I am cheap about wierd stuff. ;)

The Quartermaster's Booty just arrived at our Pirate Cave:

Chrissie gave you great answers already, just thought I'd add my $.02:
1. 'dress code' threads on the main board can sometimes get ugly. People seem to have different thoughts about it. We dress like I see the majority of people dressing on casual nights - collared shirt (polo, camp, Hawaiian) and Docker-type pants for guys - sundress or slacks/capris/skirt & a nice shirt for the gals.

2. we bring a fold-up zippered beach blanket to use with the bath size towels DCL gives out.

3. Nope. Unless you want personal training.

4. :confused3

5. 9 pm...NOW! See the first post for location.

A hint...M is for Morse. :confused3

Well then it can't be me.

I always used the middle name when my children were in real trouble.:rolleyes1

My mom did that too.
She had to make up a middle name for the dog.

Happy Birthday Christopher!!!!

What the heck are those thigs on the cake??
Pirate worms? Pirate rocks? Pirate fingers? :scared:

There were levels of being in trouble...
nickname:chrissie...not to bad
part formal name:Christine..ok there will be heat
formal name:Christiné-Marie ..so busted
entire name with last name...run for the hills! (never got that far...I'm an angel!):cutie:

Chrissie

DH tenses up on the rare occasion I call him "Steven"

Same here! I thought eggs were relatively safe, especially if you get the pasturized ones... Though I am not sure I've ever seen pasturized eggs in our store...

Hehe all this talk of names... I was always "Trarri" and my sister always was "Trerracy". That's what we get for having names of Terri and Tracy.

17dd has said many times that I should have just named her *KatMags* since that is what I have called her for her entire life! LOL! Oldest dd's name is Katherine & 17dd's nickname is Maggie (her real name is Samantha).

Ever since you announced that, I have had you on a prayer list!

I think it would fall under the "miracle" department for a bus load of people to go into a store, get what they wanted, and be on their way in 20 minutes.

Even if everyone is relatively fast, the lines at the checkout counter(s) will make the stop long.

I'm hoping for you all . . . but I wouldn't hold my breath. :rolleyes1

As for old tv shows- DH and I used to watch Quincy :goodvibes

How about Kate and Allie and of course Hazel and Coputship of Eddie's Father??

We have a cousin that used to play for the KC Chies. nice to see the connection. Thanks for the info...

Okay, this made me spit tea all over my desk! I wasn't even clever enough to seal my dress up but was convinced a daughter would want it. Well, three boys later it is hanging in DS15s closet and has been since we moved into this house 11 years ago

His comments lately have been "And why do I have to have your wedding dress in my closet?" Guess I should get rid of it at this point :sad1:

Michelle

Michelle a nice rememberance for your dress would be to have it made into teddy bears.

There is a lady here that has a craft store and makes them for less than $20 each. She was able to make 5 out of Alan's mom's dress.

Why can't I find the chat link? I was going to come join in the fun for a bit, but the link is gone!!! HELP!!!! I'm lost at sea.....
