Happy Birthday Claire!

hi everyone! i havne't been on in a few days! hope everyone had a great weekend. mine was very stressful! my boys went to the hosp last friday to get the tubes put in their ears. youngest ds fared pretty well fri, but the anesthesia knocked the older one for a loop! he had the procedure done at 8am...with very little anesthesia...and he was still throwing up when he went to bed that nite! i felt awful for him!! youngest ds was hit harder the next day. he had his adenoids done also..and the pain got to him on saturday. the pain meds make him very whiny and loopy...so it's been a difficult past few days! we also had a yard sale on saturday. i mistakenly thought i would have time to work on pricing things on friday...but that never got done due to ds's not being well! so...i stayed up late on friday nite with the intentions of pricing sale stuff. i decided to check emails at one point, and when i got online, i started chatting with an old freind....and we ended up staying up all nite chatting...i never went to bed! not what i needed to do when i ws short on sleep anyways!
oh well...things are settling down now...so i can finally check back in here! has there been any more info on the busses from hojo to the port? any other imp info i should know about? i guess i'd better go check out the pirate board...and try to get caught back up!
have a great nite everyone!

You too! And get some sleep!:grouphug:

So when exactly will you be up here? We could maybe swing a visit over the mountains!
That must be so hard to retire her guide. At least she'll be with you temporarily!

Well, we heard from our realtor that the bank didn't take our offer - we're the backup. :confused3 So, things are back up in the air now.

I know I'll be there, or in the vicinity, July 18 - 25. We'll make at least one trip to Seattle to take the boys to the Pacific Science Center. DS11 got to go last summer and is insisting that we take little brother since it's about the coolest place on the planet. I'll tell you, my stock really went up when he learned I used to work there. ;)

So, you can come do forestry, hike, camp, hot tub, BBQ.... OR.... We could try to meet up in Seattle.

Just to help you decide, this is the hot tub, and the view therefrom :cool2:

Depending on the body count, we could probably have beds. And, if any others from the area decide to join in...

I have a great squirrel story!

Are we sharing squirrel stories??

We had a nexting pair just over the fence. They spent the spring ripping up our landscape cloth for nesting material. :headache: So, during spring break I tasked DS11 with making a squirrel-chaser-awayer. So, with some wire and foil he rigged up a thing to blow in the wind, and we tied it to the tree with some string.

Couple of days later there's the squirrel-chaser-awayer jumping up and down and dancing around like a crazy thing, and no wind. We look in the tree and the stupid squirrel was trying to STEAL it! Though it was just what he needed for the entry way or something. :upsidedow

After that we called it the squirrel-distractor. :rotfl2:

She had gone into anaphylactic shock! After much care, she is home recovering now.

 This is why vets ask you to keep an eye on them for 24 hours. Glad she's recovering! That was a close one.

OK, am I the only person looking for Prince Charming's legs sticking out of the carriage door with Cinderella's????

 :rotfl:  Oh. My. Word. One wonders just where Prince Charming is since you can't see his legs.

WOW Esteri!
That is one AWSOME view! Is this your home or a vacation property? It is so beautiful! My kids love these kinds of places to just hunt around for critters of all types. It looks wonderful!
Wish we lived closer to help with the s**** packing up. Thanks for doing this!:thumbsup2

I don't know if this helps anyone...but I thought I would post the info. This may have been posted before but I hadn't seen it.

I called the DLH to inquire about coming in thru SNA (John Wayne Airport) and getting to the resort without renting a car. I was told that there is not a shuttle per se but there is a bus called the Disney Express that leaves every hour from the airport. You do not need to make ressies in advance and it is free.

I don't know why the DLH keeps telling people that this bus is free. IT IS NOT FREE! The Disneyland Express runs from SNA and LAX and is operated by Greyline Tours. It does run every hour, but you do have to pay. Here's their online brochure. And here's the info on Mousesavers.

The folks at the DLH also told people that this shuttle could take them to the port for free. Again, not ture.

Just got an email from Chris (GrandmaX3) live from the Magic. She's having a good time but has discovered she doesn't like inside cabins. Says it's been chilly since leaving LA, but Cabo was nice. They are on their way to Mazatlan tonight.

Yes, it was the shots. She had two so they are not sure which one she reacted to. Next time they said they will pretreat her and then watch her for a couple hours afterward. It was very scary. I was glad the boys were not with me. I was not sure what was going on. It was at PetSmart so I could see through the glass and there were 3 nurses and a doctor working on her. The nurse came out and said they were trying to stabilizer her. She stayed there most of the day. When I went to Starbucks after I left her there, as I was paying, they asked me if I was having a good day. I started to cry and said no and told her why. She gave me my money back and said my drink was on her - which made me cry more!

She is better but I won't feel better for a few more days when I stop having to give her Benadryl.

I will let you know how she is doing in a few days. Thanks to all!

That IS awful!! We had a Boston Terrier who reacted like that to one of his shots. Been so long now, I don't remember which one....but they had to give him something else after that.

Stace, *knowing everyone* is what all of his kids will tell you about Uncle John! One of my cousisn told me that everytime they were at Church on vacation (other states) they would run into someone that he knew in Omaha! :rotfl: And a couple of my cousins are teachers in the area

My brother (the swimmer) teaches in Papillion.
It's funny how often we've traveled and run into people from Omaha. I wonder if half the population once lived there?
Or is it just half the Air Force population??

I'm glad she's having fun. I hope she doesn't have an inside cabin for THIS cruise!!

Holy cow!!! Poor boys, and poor YOU!!! :flower3: :grouphug: :grouphug:

OK, that's it. I'll be dining in shorts and a tank top on TOAL. I went shopping tonight. It didn't end well.
Well join my club. I don't think I have the money to buy new clothes and OBVIOUSLY I don't have enough time to lose weight to fit into more clothes- soo....... I may be a tad underdressed at dinner and maybe have to avoid formal nights. I hope on the other nights that the capris (only thing that fits me besides one pair of shorts) and shirts will suffice. :confused3

oh how scary! You poor dear! I hope your "baby" is okay now!

Yes, I told you it was her b-day. ;)
Samantha works at an Art School -- her & the younger kids take classes there, also.
I had VBS all last week (I'm the leader for the craft area) & dh was out of the country and I just had an all around bad week..........
I will say that i thought it was funny the day you went to Hawaiian Falls.... Brian had tried to talk me into going that same afternoon after VBS!!!! Wouldn't that have been funny!!! You must drive fast if it only took you 35 mins...... I don't drive over the speed limit...ever. I had thought 287 to 67 would have been the best way but, since none of the online maps gave me that option I thought maybe there was construction going on --- I haven't driven that direction on 287 in about 18 months....... From our old house we would take 820 to 35 to 67 to go to Cleburne.

Hi,
I figured you must be too busy to answer my email or something but then I saw you posting here and I thought hey...... did she not get my email or what? LOL
Um, NO! I was not driving fast.I told you in the email that I did not drive over the speed limit (and often slightly under to be on the safe side) because most of the small towns you have to go thru to go that way are towns that are REALLY BIG on stopping you for speeding- I think it's their main source of revenue for their small towns or something. LOL I told you they are always out with radar guns and/or you see people stopped almost everytime you go by there. Plus I was following behind my prego-sister and she doesn't ever speed but she's even more cautious when pregnant (well partly not by choice- us short people have nowhere to go but OUT when we're pregnant and being short.. and so far back from the wheel due to massive tummy... it presents problems actually reaching the pedal well enough to put the metal to the pedal. LOL) So no, I wasn't going over the speed limit. There might have been construction going on there before and it's done now OR the online maps just sometimes don't give you the "best and fastest route"- they usually give the shortest route- which isn't always the fastest. I mean it can be less miles from one point to the next BUT if it's going thru towns with red light after red light and slow speed limits versus going thru towns that are all 65mph and only slowing down to 50mph speed limit for short periods of time as you pass thru the tiny town- and 0-1 red lights in each town-- it really makes a difference in how much TIME it takes. Perhaps this route was more miles but a lot faster because the speed limit isn't 55 then 35 then 50 then 45 with lights/etc. like the other way is! LOL

That would have been funny if you guys just showed up! That would have been neat!
I actually did see one girl that looked just like Samantha- same braces and everything! I had to stare at her very hard before I realized it wasn't her. LOL She looked so much like her I almost asked her if she was Samantha! LOL

I'm so sorry you had a bad week, dear.
I'm also so sorry to hear about your uncle! :( :(
I'm also sorry apparently I wasn't thinking when you told me about Claire's birthday. I wasn't thinking clearly atleast! I guess I had so much on my mind at the time preparing for Rita's party, ruby going to church camp, etc.
I'm shaking my head at myself.....can't figure out why I didn't think about it. Normally I would have thought ahead and had a gift for her or something! LOL

(ps. is she on the SM list? if she is- can I ask Laura if I can be her SM? LOL I'm having an "issue" with being assigned a girl that doesn't like girl things- and I spent a YEAR buying stuff I thought Rita would like thinking that meant another girl her age would like it....... but no, I'm matched up with a girl that likes boy stuff! And Laura said she was surprised most fo the girls on the SM list didn't want girl stuff!!! that's a disaster for me... tha'ts all I bought was princesses and tinkerbell stuff and a couple of girly POC things--- I can't afford to rebuy the items... I bought stuff for a year when on sale, when disney stuff showed up in the dollar store and target, etc.-- but it's presenting a problem for Laura to change things. I don't want to give this to a child that is going to be disappointed with a bunch of princesses and tinkerbelle stuff! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh I wanna cry. I'm wondering if i should just pull out from the SM thing and just give the gifts I bought to my own kids- they wouldn't know the difference (I'm a nightowl and they'd be clueless LOL) atleast then I'd KNOW the kids would be happy instead of disappointing someone else's child. :( But I know Claire would love the stuff I bought!)

dahuffy - As a dog lover you would appreciate this story. Today I took our 1 yr old Min. Schnauzer to the vet for vac. Her name is Belle. A few minutes after I left the vet, Belle threw up so I stopped to clean the van. When I got back into the van, she collapsed on the seat. I rushed her back to the vet. They rushed her to the back and started working on her. She had gone into anaphylactic shock! After much care, she is home recovering now.

That would be incredibly frightening to have happen.

I've gone into anaphylactic shock myself and know how frightening it is. Thank goodness you got your baby back to the vet in time.

I hope she recovers well. :grouphug:

I just wanted to say a big public THANK YOU to Terri (rillsung) who very kindly offer to make us a Boma ressie and got one for us!

We are so, so grateful!

We can't wait for this trip!

Sorry for your stressful few days/weekend!
I've been down that road with tubes in the ears (Ruby) and tonsils/adenoids taken out (Rita)- not fun! Sure hope your boys are feeling better tomorrow!!

That stinks that they are telling people it's free.
I had looked into it and noticed there was a charge. I wish they DID make it free like in Florida. (ofcourse even in Florida it's not free to the port- just to the resort and back to the port. Unless they changed it. Are they charging for magical express in florida now?)
