Hi Wow- they wrote a WHOLE LOT more signatures on your shams than they did on my kids pillowcases last year! A WHOLE LOT more.... like twice as much atleast. Hey, they better give us more signatures this year. LOL
(you know what- I think maybe since we said their "favorite character" just to make sure THAT signature was on there- maybe they limited the names on there? I mean I put on there that Rita's favorite was cinderella and princesses to make sure those were on there, Ruby I said her favorite character was stitch, and robert I said his favorites were like Mickey, goofy, donald, etc. but no princesses.. (because I thought he'd be upset to have a pillowcase with a bunch of princesses names on it- a couple years ago he was very big on not having anything to with GIRLY stuff) Maybe they thought that's the ONLY signatures I wanted on there or something? hmm, yeah that's probably why. Maybe I should make a note- lots of signatures please but JUST MAKE SURE CINDERELLA IS ON RITA'S lol)

We have been on 3 cruises. On each of them we have turned in a t-shirt to be signed for DS. The number of signatures has varied widely and I have used the exact same note each time! One cruise, it was just the fab 5 (least # of sigs) and on our last cruise (Jan 2007) the whole shirt was covered (similar to the pillow shams posted). I think it just depends on how busy they are ....

Cheese curds and Mozz whips ROCK!!!! The best are when they are squeeky!

I LOVE cheese curds! We're heading up to our cabin in Nothern WI this weekend and stopping for curds (and cheese) is always on the itinerary :) We used to have a cheese factory near our place and could get REALLY fresh curds there that squeaked. It has been closed for many years now, but we have found a good shop that often has the squeaky kind.

Yes Cheryl, fried cheese curds are pretty good! - Fat on Fat :lmao:

I KNOW! We read Prince Caspian a month or 2 ago. The kids liked picking the movie apart though.

:rotfl2: DS9 is still doing that this morning! He keeps thinking up more things that didn't match the book.

M - Did you get the PM I sent last week? I know you were out of town, so you are probably still getting caught up....

Pamela

Cool - I'm all caught up! DS9 has a class today from 9-3, so we are leaving later than usual so I can drop him off on my way to work. The extra time allowed me to do a little reading here. The class is called Dynamic Duo: Electricity & Magnetism. DS loves this type of stuff, so it should be fun. This type of thing is one of the perks of living only a few miles from the Fermilab Accelerator Laboratory. He is going to 2 other programs there this summer: Noodlin' with Newton (3 days) and Camp Invention (5 days).

I try to sign him up for a variety of stuff over the summer so he isn't stuck at the office all day, every day. This week, he'll be in the office 3 days, but then we go to the cabin. DH & I are only staying until Tuesday, but my parents will be coming up on Tuesday before we go so that DS can stay up there with them - lucky kid gets over a week up north!

I had almost forgot the marathon dance recital from last night. This years show was 4-1/2 hour long :scared1: DD7 had her 4th recital and was in 2 numbers last night, one jazz and one ballet. After about 30 dances they all start looking alike. Here is Austyn in her jazz outfit.

OMG!!! 4 1/2 hours!?!?! Those poor kids!!! DD's recital was Saturday afternoon and it was just over an hour. All of the dances were to TV show themes. Some were just a couple minutes long ... perfect!

Is there a limit on the number of items (pillow cases, photo mats) you can drop off to have signed?

Will they sign shirts and caps?

Where is your cabin? We go "up north" several times a year!

Our cabin is by a tiny town called Birchwood. It is about 20-30 miles South of Hayward - not too far from Rice Lake. It was built by my great-great uncle (my grandfather's uncle) and my son is the 5th generation of our family to visit up there. My grandmother used to spend the entire summer up there with my father and aunt during the 50's - back then, there was no electricity, no plumbing and for the 1st few years the only way in was by boat. Today, we have not just electricity and plumbing, but a dishwasher and microwave also!

The girls look beautiful! And their costumes are really cute.

Our DD Hailey had her first dance recital on Friday. She wasn't the best dancer, but boy did she have fun. And I was really worried about stage fright, but she got up there and danced away, so I was really proud of her.

She did hip-hop. I don't even have a picture because we weren't allowed to take pictures that night. When I get her picture from the dance school, I'll post it. (Even though we hated her costume. I didn't realize hip-hop equals street walker:scared1: )
I don't have kids myself, but I have been involved in the dance community for a number of years. I am always surprised at how little the young girls wear when they dance. I know they are going for a "look" and feel for each dance, but I don't think it was ever intended for young kids to look like pimps and hoes to attain that "feel."

Good news! Hope it heels quickly. :)

Good news. Take care of those ligaments, they need to be ready for Sea Duty soon :thumbsup2

Now DD wants to know why her dance pictures aren't on here so ... the ballet was to the Adam's Family theme song and tap was to the Muppet Show.

All this talk of Cheese Curds is making me crave Poutine ... A French Canadian masterpiece of French Fries, Cheese curds and gravy. Sounds gross, but delicious!!!

Great news Andrew.. Rest that Calf ... You need it in good shape for the cruise!!!!

They will sign whatever you drop off. There isn't a posted limit but I wouldn't overdo it. I usually use the rule one item per guest. We have only done 2 previously.

I am glad I got someplace you liked...I am looking forward to a weekend away. My parents (aka, my DD3's daycare) are leaving this Sunday for a 3 week vacation, so the big kids are taking turns watching the little one so my life will be a crazy disaster for the next 3 weeks, this weekend is right in the middle of all that fun, so it will be a welcome getaway!

July 12th in West Chicago!!!! I am sure you will like it too. I think you are about 15 to 20 minutes away from my house.:woohoo: :woohoo: Could be 18 of thanks to your big family!!!!! :woohoo:

I have to ask a question of the other dance parents who have been at this for years. There was a girl in DD's class who stopped coming 2 months ago. She was not there to learn the entire routine to either dance. Her mom wouldn't let her come because she wasn't doing well in school. She showed up for the pictures. She didn't come to the last class. She didn't come to the dress rehersal BUT she showed up at the recital. Would your schools have allowed her to even get on the stage? She threw DD for a loop because they moved her from No. 1 position in the tap number (different count for the opening move) to the No. 2 position which moved her from an A to a B for the next move. She was a trooper but I don't think that it is fair for the other kids in the class when that happens. Just wondering if I am being a "studio mom" being upset when I saw this happen and the look on DD's face through the dance.

Different kind of dance, but at my son's Irish Step Dance school there is NO WAY this would happen! You need to be taking classes for the entire year (Fall/Winter/Spring sessions) and have "regular" attendance in order to be in the recital. I assume the "regular" attendance gives them some leeway to deal with illnesses and such - but I have heard the instructors warn parents if they are missing to much and might not be able to participate. They also would NEVER change a child's number/letter in a routine at the performance. When someone has been missing (due to illness), they have just made do with having 2 "A"s side-by-side.
