Meal plans at DL...

Since we are only there for 2 days (Fri & Sat) and want to see as much of DL and CA as we possibly can, we are only doing 1 sit-down meal (Blue Bayoo with DISers! :cool1: ). I'm hoping to be able to get something really quick at the HoJo in the morning (like a muffin or bagel) and am planning on counter-service for everything else.

Thanks for the DL tips posted earlier. I'm panicking a little about how we are going to see all that we want to see in only 2 days in the crowds and heat of August  :scared1: My current plan has us getting there before open each day. On Friday, we'll run for Tomorrowland and on Saturday we'll run for Adventureland.

For the DL veterans out there - how "must do" is Nemo? It sounds like it will eat up a lot of time (even first thing in the morning) and I'm wondering if it is really worth it. Although I would love to ride the subs again after all these years, I'm just not sure the nostalgia is worth waiting in line for the first hour we are at DL! I suspect that if we use that hour to hit Tomorrowland and Fantasyland that we can get a lot accomplished that will take hours to do later in the day...

Pamela

Keep in mind, Christopher, that CA opens much later (at least 2 hours) than DL, so you can always hit DL early for a few hours on Saturday and STILL open CA . . . that's a big advantage to the way those parks are set up (and right across from each other, so super-easy to park hop).

Our favorite way to do DL park is to get there at opening which is easy for us since we have a time zone advantage. You can usually have the run of the park for a good hour or two! Have fun!!!

Anyone want to zip line on a ship ;)

http://oasisoftheseas.com/

Some of the attractions that will be available

Building an amusement boardwalk - including a Carousel, boardwalk games, two climbing walls and the first ever Zipline on a ship

Central Park feature with serene pathways and canopy trees, al fresco dining and shopping

The largest Promonade on any RCCL ship including a levitating Risiing Tide Bar transporting guests between three decks and enough shops, pubs and restaurants to entertain even the most traveled travelers

They will also have 2000 sq ft staterooms - Loft Staterooms with multi leveled suites with floor to ceiling windows.

Another first is inside rooms with balconies that will overlook some of these interior areas
A way to get a balcony or a room with a view without paying for a verandah ocean view room

Anyone up for a reunion in 2010 for another TOAL? :rotfl2:

ACTUAL CRUISE INFORMATION ALERT

Dining rotation - as per a call from concierge
Repeating every 3 nights

5:30 and 8pm - LAP LAP, etc
5:45 and 8:15pm - APL APL, etc
6pm and 8:30pm - PLA PLA, etc

Hey Guys! :wave2:

Just popping in to subscribe. Had a way late night last night and therefore, I am just getting ready to leave. Having a hard time adjusting to this time zone. Anyway, if anyone is interested in looking at pictures of what we've been up too, I have been blogging my trip except for last night - it was close to 3 am before I went to bed.

BTW, The WWII Memorial? AWESOME at night. I may just have to go back tonight and view it again. But I will hit it again in the daytime.

Did you find Kilroy?
That's my favorite part of that memorial.

OK folks - one more order of business:

ANYONE FOR A DC MEET?

IF ANYONE OUT IN THE DC AREA OR SURROUNDING AREAS WOULD LIKE TO MEET UP WITH ME - I AM WITH MY OLDEST DD (but I am considering her an honorary adult as she's about 30 days out) - LETS SET UP A TIME AND PLACE. WE ARE STAYING IN VIENNA BUT WE ARE STARTING TO GET THE HANG OF THE METRO. WE ARE IN TOWN UNTIL WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25TH.

As long as there is a metro close by - we can probably get there.

ME ME ME!
I'll be back in town Sat. night, so Sunday is doable. Weekdays I can be found between Foggy Bottom Metro & Dupont Circle Metro.

Hey Laura:yay:
We're in the area and would love to meet up with you:thumbsup2
I just have to check with DH to see what we are doing this weekend. The weekdays are bad for us, but maybe Sat. or Sun. What do you have planned for those days ?

I vote Sunday!

Great idea!! I know what you mean about the clothes....I used to give my sister all of our outgrown kids clothes.......Not anymore...... Now I know why she only buys cheap cr*p......

Most of Claire's clothes are either custom made or from specialty shops.... She's the last one so, she gets all the cute clothes! LOL! My sister wants me to give them to her for her grand daughter....we'll see! ;)

Well, I guess I will not try that again. It was a waste of time. I realize I am too emotionally attached to their clothes. :rotfl: To sit there while they gave almost nothing for clothes that had basically only been worn once from Gymboree was riduclous. A $35.00 sweater that has been worn once was $1.50. No thanks!
I am going to give them to my neighbor since she has 3 girls and it would help them out.
I will just give the girls their spending money.

I was just laughing at your typing, Cheryl . . . no worries . . . and I think you look great (and very thin) in that photo!:thumbsup2
I know you love me inspite of my terrible typing!!

All this talk about DL makes me sad.:worried: I am thrilled to be on the cruise, but I would LOVE to be able to also spend a few days at DL. I haven't been to DL since the 70's so I am sure a lot has changed. :lmao: DH only has 18 days of vacation and we just used 6 to visit his family in TX. So that only leaves 12 and 10 of those are for the TOAL. So he will only have 2 days from Sept. 1 to the end of the year.

I, on the other hand, earn 6.77 hours every 2 weeks and have over 200 hours saved up. Maybe I should just go to DL without him. :rotfl: Hey, I just spent a week with his family didn't I? I was bored out of my gourd while he and his Dad worked on the car. Couldn't even DIS as I wasn't comfortable getting on their computer and they don't have wireless access for my laptop. Anybody have room for a tag along?

I guess I can't do this without him since it is our anniversary trip. He does come in ahead of Disney in my life. (just barely) :rotfl2:

We were having the same problem but now DH goes and works 4 days at 10 hours a day. ::yes:: He now gets Fridays off so we only need 8 days for our trip.:rolleyes1

Just wanted to let everyone know... I just got my DING with SW. It's only good for bookings made before 1:25PM TODAY. Geez they give a whole half hour! The Ding for us is totally unavailable and wouldn't be cheaper anyway :( So much for their wonderful anniversary sale!

On the old thread but I understand you are staying at the Marriott LAX???? We will be there Saturday from 11:00 am. What time are you getting in???:confused3

I'll pay good money to see that! :rotfl2: I'll even sell tickets!

Remember......all entertainment is free on the cruise!!!::yes:: I will make sure Crash and I corner Tom while you are around!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Knowing Tom......he will bring ear plugs.;)

OK, so if Captain's dining is 6pm, (and I'm doing this right!) that puts us in Lumier's for both formals & semi, and Parrot Cay for pirate night!

PERFECT! :thumbsup2

I looked at the site and images... I can't really pin it down, but something just doesn't feel right about it. I haven't sailed in one of the mega-ships (Magic is the largest ship I've sailed on), but I can't help feeling it's almost a floating mall. I can barely stand visiting malls - the idea of living in one for a week.... Or maybe I'm wondering if past a certain size the impersonality becomes a problem....

I don't know - I suppose I'll try one of the megaships at some point. For sure I'll try one of the new Disney ships. But it wouldn't surprise me if I end up sticking with the smaller ones. ::cop:

I felt the same way - then I went on the Freedom of the Seas on a TA inaugural weekend, hey it was free, and I was really suprised at how manageable it was. The size has the benefit of not any one area being really crowded at any one time.

I too am a little leary on the size of the new Genesis class but you can bet I will be on it to at least tour it. ::yes::

Love,Love,Love Caseys!!! :yay:

Me too! Except I am a little worried about the whole wheat buns. We only eat whole wheat at home(much to my kids disgust) but I like to eat the traditional Caseys at WDW.

Planning Alert..

If you need to order a Disney Visa Rewards card.. it takes 2-3 weeks for delivery.. ( says the website).. I ordered mine today and then I'll fill it right before the cruise..

Yep I ordered ours a couple days ago and will transfer right before we leave! :cool1:

Love,Love,Love Caseys!!! :yay:

I am glad we're not the only ones that have to do Casey's every time! Many times multiple times :yay:

Yeah almost not worth it with whole wheat buns and apple slices! Ya know, it's great for Disney to give healthy options, but geez I'm on vacation! I want the junk food! I want fries with my Casey's dog on a white bun!

Oh I forgot to mention... My Crocs SHRANK. Geez you'd think they would make them so they wouldn't shrink.... Well maybe it's my fault for leaving them out in the sun, but still!

Yes it does. It also puts you in Parrot Cay for Tropical night.

I've never had mine shrink, but you can stretch them a bit. You need to get them warm (either a minute or two -no more - in the dryer or put them back out in the sun) then stretch the strap while it is warm and then wear the shoes until they are cool. I am between sizes for the basic Crocs - the 6 is a little big, but the kid's 5 is a little small - I have both and have used this method to stretch the 5's so they fit a little better.

I'm not a "veteran" but I have been there twice for several days each time, most recently over New Year's when Nemo was open. It's nice, but in my opinion with only 2 days to see and enjoy all of DL, just not worth spening almost an hour of early morning park time. You can also choose to go a different way and just see the movie without being in the sub, if you want to see what it is like (and there is much, much less wait for that).

You know I do! You need these few small faults so that you won't be so perfect that you are insufferable;)

Okay...so this might incite riots...but I don't think Nemo is worth the wait! Sorry everyone! We waited over 2 hours for it last September, right after it opened. It was NOT worth the wait at all. You can see more cool stuff looking down from Autopia or the Monorail loading ramp. Just my two cents...go do other stuff in Tomorrowland and take a picture in front of the Nemo sign! :)

That is reason enough that you deserve a longer trip! :rotfl:

We had planned on spending a couple of days in LA before the cruise -- dh wanted to show the kids all the things he did while growing up there....... But, he really can't be out of pocket this long since he just got promoted..... None of the other officers in the company take this many days off in a row...... I keep telling him that it isn't his fault that they don't like their familys' as much has if likes his! :rotfl2: For years our trips revolved around his making stops to check on some of their stores -- the kids and i would be vacationing for 3 wks but, we would drop dh off at the nearest company store and then we would head out to have fun! LOL!

No, but I can see the nice rock on her finger!! ;)

I noticed that, also! My first thought was *I hope she doesn't lose that in the ocean!* I never wear my rings to do things like swim or go tot he ocean....

Well, I guess I will not try that again. It was a waste of time. I realize I am too emotionally attached to their clothes. :rotfl: To sit there while they gave almost nothing for clothes that had basically only been worn once from Gymboree was riduclous. I know I am too emotionally attached to everything! LOL! I haven't been able to part with hardly any of Claire's clothes. :rotfl2: It's a sickness!

We had asked the kids if they wanted to try one of the Freedom ships and 17dd said *No. They are too big.* You are right on the money with the *mall* comparison! It doesn't look appealling to me!

Well the strap on one shoe actually broke off and that's the shoe that shrunk worse. I'll just keep wearing them and maybe they'll stretch back out. Thanks!

I noticed that, also! My first thought was *I hope she doesn't lose that in the ocean!* I never wear my rings to do things like swim or go tot he ocean....

Me too! I always take my rings off before hiking and swimming and housework and anything like that. Course the bad part is that I forget to put them back on....
