8/16/11 cruisers and all others, join our thread for moral support

I did not get to check-in yesterday but I did weigh myself and I am down 3 pounds in two weeks. I am happy with the progress since I hope to lose at least a pound a week. I have also exercised using the Wii (EA Active & Walk It Out) three days in a row which is something I have not done in a while.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Stay motivated! We have less than 16 weeks before we set sail.

Jude, Jen is a motivation to me too (I just outed her). In two years she's gone from not running at all to training for the Castaway 5K, losing weight and running marathons. She looks (and sounds) great.

LOL!!! :lmao: Jen is doing great! She's very motivated! If I lived in Mn and had to deal with all that cold weather, I'm sure I would be a big couch potato!!!If you keep losing a pound a week you'll be down 16 when the cruise rolls around...

I joined WW in January because I needed to be accountable. If I was paying the money I was going to stick with the program. I didn't check in here last week because I was bummed I had my first gain (knew it was from eating Wendy's the day before and was extremely bloated) but still didn't help with my self esteem. Proud to say that I survived the Easter holiday and lost 2 pounds this week. Yeah me! 18 pounds down...:yay:

Yeah for being down 18!!!!!! I have a trainer, so that at least keeps me going to the gym!!! If it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't ever go to the gym. :lmao: I also have the Wii fit and Xbox personal trainer thing.....of course they don't do much good, if you never turn them on!!! :rotfl2::rotfl:
Then there's the eating!!! I don't eat very good. That's my main problem!! Like someone else posted....I know what I need to do, it's just a matter of actually doing it!!! Maybe you guys will inspire me!!!:yay:

Soooo remember the pound and a half I lost way back when we did our first weigh in? I gained it all back over spring break. :sad2: But I'm down about half a pound since then, so I'm still down half a pound from my original weight. My biggest two problems right now are Easter candy (I can't stop eating it!) and the fact that I've had NO time to go to the gym. It's the end of the semester rush, and I have a TON of work to do. No work out time at all.:confused3

Easter candy is my downfall right now too!! The weather is finally nice here, so TOMORROW is THE DAY to start the Couch-to-5K running plan that is the first step to the 2012 Princess 1/2 that I promised my friend I would do with her next spring.

I just remembered that even though I don't have a scale, I can actually do weigh-ins on the Wii fit... guess I better bite the bullet and try to tomorrow morning!

Hubby just found me exercise TV on the TV's internet (we don't have the cable company that hosts it on demand). I'm so excited. Now to USE it. ;)

Website recommendations:

I've been using these two websites for help with new recipes and for WW point calculations and both have been a HUGE help. I even broke down and joined the 21st Century by getting an iPhone so I could use these websites when out and about.

www.skinnytaste.com
This woman (Gina) has delicious, easy recipes. Everything I've made so far the family has loved (which makes me happy when they're excited for something I'm cooking). I made the sticky chicken drumsticks tonight and on Friday I'm making the Chicken Rollatini for my daughters pre-Confirmation dinner. The Sicilian Rice Casserole was a hit too.

www.exercise4weightloss.com
This website has the WW points by restaurant (and menu). Very helpful. For those of you not familiar with how the new WW plus points are working the average person gets around 29 points per day with 49 additional weekly points that you can use if needed. When I say average there is quite a range there. My mom and I have the same number of point values each day and there's at least 70 lbs difference between us. I now am not going to blow a whole days worth of points on an ice cream sundae or a restaurant cheeseburger. It will give you a guideline of where foods fall on the ok vs splurge.

Easter candy last week was more tempting for me, even though there are Cadbury milk chocolate eggs staring at me from the kitchen counter (I really should bag them up and put them in another room). They aren't calling me like last week, must be my hormones. Last week I was a bit weak and would have succombed to them :rolleyes1

Hope the websites help someone!

I'm not on WW, but I do use the MyFitnessPal app on my phone. It's available on iPhone, Android, and maybe BlackBerry. It has a database with literally every food, and it keeps track of your food (calories, fat, sugar, etc), exercise, weigh ins, etc. I don't pay attention too much to counting calories, but I like that the app keeps me accountable. I'm less likely to eat junk food because I don't want to log it in the app and see how far over my recommended daily calories I went! :rotfl:

Will check it out too. I haven't loaded one app yet and I've had my phone for 3 weeks now...drives my kids crazy.

Another fun (free) one is Fuducate. You scan the bar code of a food & it gives it a grade. It has additional info like ingredients that make the grade, etc as well as healthier alternatives.

Weigh in day for me at WW...I lost 3.8 lbs this week!!:cool1: I guess my morning walks are starting to pay off

Total now 21.8 lost since January 25. I reset my goal for another 20 lbs (or 18.2 to make 40, not sure how close I'll get by August but will stick with it).

That is great!!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I started using the Myfitnesspal app this week and I have to tell you, the damn luncheons at work is my downfall, today was greek but I stayed upstairs and ate my lunch that I brought from home. So glad I did, after putting in what I ate yesterday for lunch, I had my entire days calories for LUNCH!!!

So I am paying attention to everything that goes in my mouth. Ginny, you may want to check out this app, it helps with restaurants and is like an electronic ww diary. Next Tuesday is my first weigh in day with it

Only two more weeks of school, which means only two weeks until I don't have to eat school food that is terrible for me, and I will finally have time to work out!
