Hello, A week from today I will be starting my long awaited trip to the happiest place on earth :woohoo: We have WOC dining reservations for an 8:15 show. Can anyone report back on the logistics for the new time change? Where is the line-up? What time do you need to line-up to get a rail spot? In case we want to see it twice: Do they sell any picnics day of when there is just 1 show? Do fastpasses run out sooner? Any information would be helpful.

You can find a thread with all of this. Everything is the same but there are less shows. So FPs fun out sooner but not faster. Still line up 45 minutes before the show. The first show will be full/soldout. Yes you can buy picnics the day of, that hasn't changed.

Like I said there are a few big threads on this so you might want to read those discusions.

When there was a 9:00 show in the summer, it sounds like you had to be in line before 7:00 to get a spot on the rail. That was 2+ hours early. How is that translating for the 8:15 show?

Someone reported that fastpasses say to return between 7:15 and 7:45, so maybe 7:00 is ok to be near the front of the pack? That wouldn't be a bad wait.

Has anyone done this...or walked through the area around this time?

I'll be there next week, so I'll report back!

Giving this a bump...hoping to hear from folks who've done the 8:15 show.

we are seeing the 8:15 show with picnic box tomorrow night. I'll report my findings as it will be my first time :)

Okay we are back. So the info for the 8:15 WOC show was like this: (This was only my experience, so please weigh that against any info you might have)

We had our fastpasses in the Blue section from our picnics. They open the "gates" at 7PM to let people in. We got there at 7:05 and every rail spot was taken already. I had to take my DS4 to the bathroom a few minutes before it started, and as we were walking back, it seemed almost better to be way in the back, because at least you could see over people's heads. We had AWFUL spots. We were on the second tier, but behind a bunch of people on the rail. I felt a little mist at one point, but that was it.
I honestly couldn't even tell you what the show was like, as I saw so little of it. My husband thought it was incredibly lame for Disney. My opinion of the show itself is probably not quite accurate, as I know I didn't fully experienced it. But I was disappointed. It was just movie clips. And not even some of the "best" movies in my opinion. The lasers, lights and water technology IS very spectacular, and I think if there was a story, a plot, or some type of reasoning, it could be amazing.

SO, lesson learned for me: either get there uber early, like 6:30-6:40, or just stand in the very back of the plaza. Or pay the bucks and get the dining package.

We got fastpasses for the 8:15 show last week. Got in line at 6:30 to wait for them to "open up" the different colored sections. We were in blue and were able to stand at the rail. Felt the mist from the water when the show started. The show was good, but none of us liked having to stand for that long in order for us to be able to see. For us it was one of those things that while glad to see it, it is not on our "must do" list of things to see again. This is only because of how long you have to stand. If they ever change that, then we might give it another shot.:confused3

Thanks for the info. We have the dining package for a Monday night. All things considered, I think we will come a little later and just take our chances view wise.

Here's hoping they figure out a system to overcome viewing problems at some stage.

Question please.. once they let you in to the coloured section can you sit at the rail (even if on the floor) if you are lucky enough to get it then stand up at pre show time?

I thought the dining area was the blue area? and the picnic area was a different color? We'll be there next Thursday night and have the dining thing, but I'm pretty short (5'4") so am wondering about my chances to actually see.

Picnic is either a blue or yellow FP and they are mixed with regular FP holders. Preferred dining is kind of considered green or sometimes off-blue - it really does not have its own dedicated color. If you are preferred dining and short and want a good view, arrive real early and get a rail spot.

See S. S. Columbia's viewing chart thread

See my WOC review here where we did preferred dining.

I did the 8:15 (only) showing of WoC on Wednesday.

I got my fastpass by entering through GCH (stayed onsite). We arrived around 8:40 and were the third group in line. This wasn't really necessary- everyone got in and got their fastpasses within the first few minutes after 9:00. Then we still had 25 minutes to wait for Soarin to open.

Pass was blue and return time was 7:00-7:45.

I had scoped out the crowd situation the night before. At 6:30, no one was even milling around the area. At 6:45, there was a good size crowd. We headed to the area at 6:35. A line had formed, but I knew (thanks to this board) that the line didn't count- that we'd be behind a barrier that wasn't yet in place. We hung out and waited. At 6:40 cast members brought out a barrier and everyone pushed and shoved to be at the front. We were smack in the middle and about 3 layers back.

A tiny hole in the barrier was opened just before 7:00. There was a ton of pushing and shoving to get through the opening- honestly, I've never seen such chaos at Disney. What are they thinking with this? :confused3 Getting a stroller and 4 people through was awful and we were all separated. Luckily we had planned ahead and all knew to get in and immediately turn left.

We headed to the bridge. The railing of the bridge filled quickly- about 10 people beat us there and the rest filled in fast. However, the area behind us filled in much later. The same thing happened down below- rails filled fast.

Pre-show started at 7:45, WoC started at 8:15.

The show was great and our view was pretty good (there are some definite pluses and minuses to the bridge, but it worked for us and our nervous kiddo to be far away from the action).

The whole thing was a hassle and required a lot of waiting, but it was worth it!

A question for those who may know. If i cant get to the park till around 2, do i have a chance to see the show tomorrow? this will be my only chance to go.
thanks

Gosh - so much chaos when schools are in session ( off-peak season). Cant imagine the chaos during peak season !!!!!!

Probably not. Fastpasses will be gone well before then. Picnics need to be reserved a day in advance....check and see, but my guess is they are sold out for tomorrow (they were sold out every day last week). You could try to snag a last minute preferred dining reservation, but I'm guessing those are gone as well.

Unfortunately, this isn't really a last minute show!
