DIS MEETS

Alright everyone...it is time to really think about our meets!!! Some of this was on our website, but let's discuss it a bit!

Here are some questions to answer:

1. Are you going to be trying to meet up with someone even BEFORE getting on the ship (Sunday morning)?

Before we sail, we will be running around Orlando if anyone wants to meet up! Mon - fireworks cruise, Tues - Blue Man Group, Wed - Dinner with Shamu, Thu - Hoop Dee Doo, Fri - TRex and DTD

2. We had talked about meeting up on Deck 10 before/during the sail away party...is this something you are interested in doing?

We will probably be down with Goofy at the dancing but will come say hi if we can

3. We have planned on meeting each day at sea at 3:00 PM at the ice cream machine. Who plans on joining in for these?

We will come as many days as we can - we made alot of spa resssies for sea days

4. We had wanted a private wine/beer tasting (they would not do this for us though). Instead, who wants to try to pick out a "tasting" that we can all go to?

How many people are interested in a wine tasting? Couldnt we just pick a time to meet in the bar and have our own "wine tasting"?

5. Does anyone have any other ideas for meeting up?

If the wine tasting doesn't work out for the bar, I would consider doing it in my room if it's not too many people (we have a category 1). I would have to go thru the navigators and figure out a time when the kids will all be out doing something with no one napping.

My last two cruises we also met about 2:30 by the drink station at the Mickey pool so that some of the kids could meet while they are swimming. I was going to suguest that to some of the parents that my DD has been writing. I don't mind meeting before the sail away party on deck 10, but my DD likes to be on deck 9 up front for all the action and I like to keep an eye on her, so if we could meet before that would be great. Anyone have any other thoughts?

My last two cruises we also met about 2:30 by the drink station at the Mickey pool so that some of the kids could meet while they are swimming. I was going to suguest that to some of the parents that my DD has been writing. I don't mind meeting before the sail away party on deck 10, but my DD likes to be on deck 9 up front for all the action and I like to keep an eye on her, so if we could meet before that would be great. Anyone have any other thoughts?

My girls too like to be up in front of the "Action."

That would be FUN!!

How many people are interested in a wine tasting? Couldnt we just pick a time to meet in the bar and have our own "wine tasting"?

If the wine tasting doesn't work out for the bar, I would consider doing it in my room if it's not too many people (we have a category 1). I would have to go thru the navigators and figure out a time when the kids will all be out doing something with no one napping.

We did this time/place on our last cruise and it was really nice! We met at 3:00 and had plenty of time for a quick meet before the safety drill.

I am willing to meet up almost whenever people want - Just let me know when to be there!

Marco and I will be arriving to port LATE this year -around 1.00 PM I guess ...
2. We had talked about meeting up on Deck 10 before/during the sail away party...is this something you are interested in doing?
Jen , we will meet you and collect our lanyards (if it's OK with you ) before the sailaway party ; we could then join you and family for the sailaway party on that same deck ... I suppose Marco will stay and go and come back ... you know, he is so much into videotaping all waht is going on ... EVERYWHERE !!!!!
3. We have planned on meeting each day at sea at 3:00 PM at the ice cream machine. Who plans on joining in for these?
We would like to join in - but maybe not every day ... it depends on where we are at the moment....

4. We had wanted a private wine/beer tasting (they would not do this for us though). Instead, who wants to try to pick out a "tasting" that we can all go to?
Sorry, I can't have any alcool - don't like to drink anything but plain water ...
If we spot you all in a bar/ lounge though - we'll be happy to stop by and have a chat !!!

personally I don't like to have too many meets set ...as there are always so many activities going on ...... and I don't like to have to rush while I'm on vacation ...

I SO agree with this. I thought that maybe if we have some "conversations" about it before we leave, we can set a couple of great meets up and then let the rest just happen!

I have so many things I want to do on the ship this time...how I will fit it all in is beyond me!!!

JEN , as we are almost ... leaving , I'll ask you IN PERSON the last info about our thread/ meetings when we meet up at WDW !!!!

I cannot wait...ONE WEEK and we will be meeting in WDW!!!!!

i hope your day was just busy and hectic and nothing serious. Still thinking of you all - any further news on your Mom?

Re Jens questions...

1. Are you going to be trying to meet up with someone even BEFORE getting on the ship (Sunday morning)?

Jen don't turn up for the ship on Sunday morning - we will be long gone!

We will look out for you all in the terminal etc as we have lanyards to collect, if not we will swing by and get them and pay you when you set up shop at the sailaway.

With our smaller girls we will probably not get right in on the sailaway action and will watch from Deck 10. If there is anything arranged in terms of a meet we will definitely come by.

Apart from that we are at WDW for five days before the cruise but are planning on a gentle amble round the parks with as little planned activity as possible except for our ADRs.

2. We had talked about meeting up on Deck 10 before/during the sail away party...is this something you are interested in doing?

Yes - see above. I am happy with before or during although I like the suggestion of making it by the Mickey Pool so those of us hoping to get in and use the pools early on can multi task - kids swim and dis meet!

3. We have planned on meeting each day at sea at 3:00 PM at the ice cream machine. Who plans on joining in for these?

Yes - 3pm is pretty good for us. Olivia sleeps in the day still but usually til around 2:30pm \ 2:45pm so we will just head on up to the ice cream machine afterwards. As Flounders is shut in the afternoons we don't have anything major planned for mid afternoon on a sea day.

I think the tastings clash with when Flounders is shut so we couldn't both go to one. Also we are not big wine drinkers. Darren is planning on going to the beer tasting. In previous navigators this is listed as 2:30pm on Mondays. Anyone else attending who wants to befriend a shaven headed English guy drinking beer alone should spot him easily!

5. Does anyone have any other ideas for meeting up?

I must admit that I like Susys suggestion of a meet in her Cat 1 - do you have Walt or Roy? I have always had a longing to see inside!

Also, those of us planning to do the CC5K will see wach other then - we must get a photo taken at the start of that (I would say the end but I am convinced that I will finish ages behind the rest of you and also the photos will be so much nicer of us before we get hot, sticky and sweaty jogging in the warm Bahamian sun!

Also, as I said somewhere in the last thread I will be going to the Art of Entertaining cooking demos alone so would love to meet up with some of you also attending those.

I agree a little with Laura in that I don't want to have too many things set in stone that I have to run for but I think we have this about right if we have a specific meet at sailaway and then some casual ice cream social meet ups!

And once again I want to say HUGE thanks to Jen for sorting the website and also to Kristin for her work on the Fish Exchange. I am so looking forward to this cruise and although obviously I would be looking forward to it anyway, it is definitely enhanced by the excitement of meeting all of you guys and your families.

Right, I am off to make the most of the peace and quiet (we were at the zoo this morning so Livvy is having a late sleep and Izzy is with my Auntie) I am going to work a little more on my FE stuff.

Sounds like a plan however kind of want to play it be ear - it is our first cruise with DCL so I do not know what to expect.
