QUESTION FOR THE MEN!!

From the main forum, but for this cruise. -Formal night..

Whose going to bring/ hire a Tux? Noooo I'm on vacation

Whose going to take a business suit. Nope

Whose taking a jacket only? Nope, maybe dress shirt and tie

Whose gong in their T-Shirt? nope

Whose going to Topsiders instead??
nope

My DH is not a member on the Dis but his answers would be pretty similar. Definitely no tux. Definitely dress shirt and tie and perhaps a jacket. Last time I panicked that he would HAVE to wear a jacket or be refused entry to Palo so he took one but looking back at the photos he definitely did not wear the jacket.

I will answer for DH...he will bring a tux. We are still working on finding a shirt & tie for it but he has really nice tux pants and jacket.

DS...I found really nice, new tuxes for boys on eBay and will be ordering him one this week.

Getting dressed up like this is a rare occasion for the family and I am going to take full advantage of the opportunity. Actually I think we all enjoy having an occasion to wear really nice clothing. :goodvibes

Mel -

Just noticed your e-mail...sorry I missed it earlier! You are not a bother at all!:goodvibes I feel bad that you aren't able to see the blog. I just changed a line on the page and uploaded the page again. Could you check and tell me if you are still getting the error message?

Thanks!

We're adding a slight twist to our cruise. http://www.wdwinfo.com/images/smilies/sad20.gif

DS(8) broke 2 bones in his arm yesterday falling off his bike. The last 24 hours have been pretty traumatic! 2 ambulance rides, 2 emergency wards, watching the MDs twist and twist and twist his arm and being able to see that it is still not quite back together correctly, finally having DS admitted to children's hospital at 4am (accident was at 4pm). MDs have now decided that they got the bones together close enough for an 8 year old but will x-ray it on Thur to see if surgery is needed because they don't feel it is stable.

Cast covers full left arm and can not be gotten wet ... and yes I asked the question, how long must cast be on and is there a possibility that cast will be gone by Aug 12 (our leave date). They want the full cast on for 6 to 10 weeks followed by 4 to 6 weeks of elbow to hand cast. The best we will be able to hope for the cruise is that he is changed to the smaller cast which will be able to get wet but cannot go into the ocean.

Negatives are easy to come by but I found a positive!
http://www.wdwinfo.com/images/smilies/thumbsup2.gif I'm certainly not going to worry about dressing the little guy in a suit or even a dress shirt. He's going to meals in a t-shirt.

Send any quick and clean healing bone vibes this way!

Kathy

P.S and what am I doing wrong with the smileys?

So sorry about your son's arm! :sad2: We will send lots of good wishes so that the bone heals nice and quick!!! :wizard: :wizard: Hopefully you will not have to worry about surgery and he will get the smaller cast on in time for the trip!

I am glad that you are finding positives! :thumbsup2 Let him dress in whatever he wants so that he is comfortable on the ship...dinner included! He will have enough to deal with without having to worry about getting dressed up!

Keep on looking for the positives! We will be sure to put a special little treat in DS's FE for the broken arm!!!

I'll answer for hubby. He likes to dress up on the cruise. He brings a suit and two dress shirts and wears them for formal night, dress up night and Palo along with a Mickey tie. Daniel and Jim have matching Mickey ties for Sunday night. We booked Palo for Thursday so Jim only has to dress up 2 times and the kids just once on formal night. I better get my family shot Sunday or I'm out of luck.

The rest of the week he wears Khaki or Navy Dockers and a polo shirt to dinner and maybe a tropical shirt one night.

Our friends husband has been giving us all a hard time about bringing a suit on a cruise. He'd prefer to go in shorts and sandals. She dragged out a photo album of another cruise they took and he wore a suit then so he can wear one again. I'm sure he'll change as soon as dinner is over. It probably reminds him of work and he'd like to forget that at best for the week.

High-ImpactInterviewQuestions.jpg

So more Questions:-

What is your favourite item from Room service?
Pizza (I know I can get it upstairs). DS has food allergies so us ordering cookies and ice cream bars is a sore topic when he can't participate. In the dining room the head server makes arrangements for him.

What pool do you like to hang out at?
Goofy Pool-Love ArielVision and watching movies

Do you order any stateroom gifts on arrival, or celebrations?
Yes, Shirley has done baskets for the kids. I wasn't planning on sending them this time around (Last cruise she sent really baby stuff and I had given her the kids ages 8 and 11 and suggestions and received baby stacking cups, small boats, and bath toys). Our kids are telling our friends kids how Mickey leaves them a basket on the bed when you arrive so I'm torn at what to do. My friend said she'll follow my lead.

If you are guarantee status, have you herd anything yet? its often 35 days out, but seen some early ones recently.
Unfortunately we're on deck 1-it was the only floor with connecting cabins and another one nearby for us. We were hoping something would open up closer to sailing but it didn't happen.

Whose going to get their tickets first? USA/Brits? what state?
I hope ours arrive before we leave on the 9th.

What is the one thing you what to do that you have never done before on the cruise?

Hmm...I'll say watch the sunrise. I think the only day I have a shot of waking up that early would be Sunday before I kick into cruise mode.

DCL1.jpg

And I'm also guilty of having a spreadsheet or two for our trip...

Gina said exactly what I was thinking. We're sending all our best wishes to your son and family that he is feeling much better soon!!

I am so glad that you are still going to cruise with us. see you in August! :goodvibes

What is your favorite item from Room service? This question is best directed to our DS14 - last cruise, he signed himself out of the clubs every day at lunch so that he could order room service lunch for himself. OMG, he LOVED it. He felt like such an "adult" (...he was 11...)

What pool do you like to hang out at? Anywhere we can actually get a lounge chair!! :thumbsup2

Do you order any stateroom gifts on arrival, or celebrations? nope, although I created a pirate chest of "goodies" as a surprise for the kids.

If you are guarantee status, have you heard anything yet? its often 35 days out, but seen some early ones recently. We were in a GTY 6 cabin and received our room assignment our room about 3 weeks ago (cabin 6542) - so at about 10 weeks. we're so excited for our first veranda room! (and shhh..it's a surprise for the kids!)

Whose going to get their tickets first? USA/Brits? what state? don't know...just don't want anyone to be "forgotten!!!

What is the one thing you what to do that you have never done before on the cruise? :rolleyes1 Sad to say, I gotta figure out how to relax....

Whose going to bring/ hire a Tux? Not Sean. He's 6'4 - not exactly an 'in stock' size...

Whose going to take a business suit. Whose taking a jacket only? Whose going in their T-Shirt? Well, Sean won't be in a t shirt but....comfort on vacation is an important issue. So, probably a blazer but maybe not a suit.

Whose going to Topsiders instead?? not us. I'm looking forward to dressing up. Sean's looking forward to the food. lol. It's all in the attitude!!! :woohoo:

keep the questions coming, Andrew!

Kritter, I hope your daughter is resting and feeling better!:goodvibes

Kathy, how horrible - and painful - for your son! He won't forget this summer anytime soon!;) My DS16 was just an hour from finishing camp in the Blue Ridge mtns last week, when we got a call... he took a violent crash on a skateboard, they took him to the ER in the middle of nowhere to stitch him up. Ultimately, he was badly scraped up and bleeding just about everywhere, but needed no stitches. And....oy....this is going to cost me a fortune. First of all, the hospital was not in network. Second...I don't know what I was thinking...I never called my insurance company...apparently I was supposed to call them w/in 24 hours. Omg...I'm dreading the bill...(yes, glad he is ok, but still I am dreading the bill!) :scared1: Apparently I have a $750 deductible for out-of-network. Dang, that's a kid-week on the Magic!:rolleyes1:headache::scared: and a helluva lot to pay for a glorified band aid!:sad2:

Great Questions, Andrew!:cool1:

What is your favourite item from Room service?
All Hands on Deck cheese platter (ok, the quality is hit or miss, it seems!); tortilla soup; pizza (again, quality is different every time!); Mickey Bar !!!:thumbsup2

What pool do you like to hang out at?
The twins LOVE the Goofy pool not-so-hot tubs! So we spend alot of time there. I don't think I saw the adult pool until my 3d DCL cruise!:rotfl:

Do you order any stateroom gifts on arrival, or celebrations?
Nope, I'm waaaay too cheap!
Whose going to get their tickets first? USA/Brits? what state? Heck, we're still waiting on DH's passport (not that he needs it..but at this point they have his birth certificate!):surfweb:

What is the one thing you what to do that you have never done before on the cruise? BYOB to the nightclubs!:thumbsup2 We've spent almost zero time in the adult night clubs, usually b/c we're so tired! I'd like to spend a little time there this year and enjoy the entertainment there!pirate:

Hope everyone had a great weekend (with pixie dust to Kritter's daughter and Kathy's son!). The baseball gods smiled on DS12's team again this weekend - they won their tournament, DS had some great hits, the sun was shining - wonderful weekend! That was the last tournament for the season...except for the Grand Finale....COOPERSTOWN in three weeks!!!! Woo Hoo! I predict some killer practice sessions between now and then!

...Had to go back and read a few pages when I realized I was behind....

kritter, I hope that your daughter is feeling better soon. It is so hard to watch when they are sick. Feel helpless, you know? Hopefully she will be able to enjoy her summer soon.

Jen, yikes! I am glad that he is okay but I would have probably forgotten about the insurance calls too - all I would have thought of is getting the right treatment. Thank God it wasn't anything more serious though.

spoohs,
we dropped Kevin and Tess off at camp today too. Does your camp have 'bunkmates'? I already sent them each an email that will be delivered tomorrow morning. and bunkmates has a 'view pictures' feature. I was beating myself up on the way home and was really worried about how they were doing (well, I knew Kevin would be okay but was worried about Tess) and there she was in at least 6 of the 20 pictures online - arms around the other girls and grinning like a deranged hyena. :rotfl2: That made me feel so much better!! I am sure that your DD is having a great time too.

Have a good night all!

Jude, thanks your posting made me feel better. Unfortunetly our camp does not have bunkmates or access to email, it is the old fashioned letter writting so I probably won't hear anything from Amanda until at least Wednesday. We did drop off a letter yesterday after we got her settled so that she would have mail today. Amanda and Tess will have a lot to talk about with their stories from camp. I know they have written emails to eachother a while back and Amanda is planning on writing some more when she gets home from camp. How long is the camp that they go to? Amanda will be at camp for two weeks:scared1:

Thanks, to everyone for the well-wishes for Hanna. She still had a fever today. She did aske if she could go into the pool for a bit to cool off. The pool is 84 degrees so I let her go in for a bit. She seemed cooler but then again this afternoon her fever went up high again. So going to call the Dr. again tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
