Attn: All Who Ordered Lanyards!!!!

They are here! However...there is a mistake in them...they are on BLACK lanyards with white printing instead of blue lanyards with white printing.:sad1:

I am going to call and find out if there is anything that can be done about them...but...even with them on black...they are WONDERFUL!!!!!:thumbsup2

The printing is clear, large and so nice. They are really nice quality lanyards and I love them.

To those of you who ordered a lanyard...would it bother you that they are black with white printing?

I would like to know what people think when I call the company. I will try to take a picture and post it (but I have NO clue how to post pictures...I know...I should know how to do this).

Jen

Hi Jen,

First of all - I can see that blog entry :) Hooray!

Second, black and white Lanyard is absolutely fine with me. Of course I would try emailing about the probkem - they may refund part of the cost or at least credit your account with a store credit. But I am perfectly happy with black and white. Looking forward to seeing them. Perhaps you could post the photo in the photos section of the website?

Jen,

The landyards sound GREAT.....Let me know if you want me to send you the money out for them!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to all for best wishes for DS. He was super through the whole thing. He is having less pain today but his fingers are still very swollen. DS is not allowed to do anything active until after MD visit Thursday.

He and DH are both sleeping so I have a little time to myself. I took today off from work because I figured that I would be worthless there (not enough sleep over the past 2 nights)!

PoohJen - sorry to hear about your DS and the bills! I haven't even thought about the potential cost of all this. I'm not sure my insurance will cover both ambulance rides. I'm actually lucky that DS was admitted because that makes the insurance much easier than j"ust" an emergency room visit.

Kritter - hope Hanna is over her illness. I don't know 2 of us with kids take to a children's hospital last week!

Jen - the lanyards sound fine but I agree that you should contact the company anyway. You never know what concessions they will be willing to make.

I guess we will be doing some shore excursion changes since it doesn't look like DS will be able to go in the ocean. I don't think that we will be feeding the stingrays or snorkeling (or bicycling!)

9.30pm at night here watching Wimbledon, with Brit Andy Murray on centre court with the roof on.

It had been very sunny here today very hot, but with that some thunder and heavy downpours.

I am so glad you can see the blog entry!!!:cool1::cool1:

I did contact the company about our lanyards...we have to stick with the black & white ones because there is not enough time to get them redone. They are giving a discount...but it is not much of one...only a few pennies off per lanyard.

I still love them! They are super sharp looking and I will post a photo later tonight (you will be asleep by the time I get them on)!!!!!

Talk Later!

QUESTIONS FOR THOSE WITH KIDS ON THE CRUISE AGED 8 AND UP?

Do you allow your kids to charge on their KTTW Card.
No - first time cruising with him so I am a little hesitant.

If so do you tell them there is a limit?

If aged 8 to 10 do you allow them to self check in/out?
Ditto above answer! Does anyone know if you can change this as the cruise goes on?

Do you have a Kids contract for the cruise? IE Do not play with elevators, do not go in other peoples rooms, do not stay up beyond 12 midnight? meeting point at set times during the day, do not over eat?
No but thanks for the idea although we would be thrilled if our non-eater overate!

Do you take your kids on shore trips or allow them to go on teenage ones or stay on ship?We will be taking DS on shore trips

Do they 'have to' eat with you? say Dinner.
We planned in making him eat dinner with us

Do you allow your kids to charge on their KTTW Card.
Yes, however they are always standing next to me during their purchase. I don't know if it would occur to them to go into the store or pin stand by themselves to charge. They also have Disney Dollars that I tell them I will deduct from their charge.

If so do you tell them there is a limit?
They have to be willing to spend their own money so that's their limit

If aged 8 to 10 do you allow them to self check in/out?
This is a debate amongst our friends and us. Our DS 10 feels that after 3 cruises he knows his way around, I'm not convinced. However it would make certain times easier for us (Like if we were in Palo and the kids club was heading to lunch where he wouldn't eat he could check himself out and go to Plutos or the room and order lunch himself. He will have a buddy with him so they won't ever be alone.

Do you have a Kids contract for the cruise? IE Do not play with elevators, do not go in other peoples rooms, do not stay up beyond 12 midnight? meeting point at set times during the day, do not over eat?
I guess I'm naive expecting that my kids wouldn't do that anyways, but if they have check in/out privledges we will have to go over ground rules.

Do you take your kids on shore trips or allow them to go on teenage ones or stay on ship?
They definately come with us.

Do they 'have to' eat with you? say Dinner.

Dinner is mandatory.

Kristen I hope Hanna is feeling a little better by now. Kathy, wow it sounds like your son has been great despite the pain.

Like Andrew I have been watching Andy Murray on TV this evening. It was great to finally get to see the new and improved Centre Court at Wimbledon with it's roof and lighting - I bet the players were glad of it too knowing they were sure to get finished with no worries about rain or poor light stopping play. Glad Andy won in the end but the guy he was playing was pretty good too.

My children are a bit young for Andrews questions - there will be no charging on the cards of my 4 year old and 19 month old!

I completed my epic task of getting Olivias passport form sent today. Afte rour house move last year I found that the box of safe documents did NOT have her full birth certficate in only the short version so I had to go and order a new copy on Friday which I picked up today. Then took the passport application to the post office to get it checked and sent in the priority system! Phew - when that comes back it will be the biggest tick of all on my to do list!

I am so glad to see that others have holiday planning spreadsheets and stuff - I feel less weird now!

Also it is great to know that others are hoping to do the Art of Entertaining - thanks also for the offers of sharing a table with some of you, it will be lovely to enjoy some of these activities together :)

Right, off to bed shortly, I have the dentist with both children in the morning at 8:50a.m. and I am not relishing getting everyone up, fed dressed and through the rush hour traffic and into the next town at that time! We are usually slow and taking our time!

Night night,
Mel

Good Morning Everyone...

How is everyone this morning?

My brother just called they are DVC members I am assuming everyone has pre and post cruise hotel reservations already but he just found out that he needs to use 92 DVC points by the end of Aug. anyone looking to rent DVC points for a pre or post cruise stay let me know. He is going to loose them if he does not use them up. Thanks,,!!!!!!!

Can't he just roll them over to the next year? We do that a lot.:confused3

Hello Everyone! My DD's dance group won a judge's award at a really big dance competition this spring!! :cool1: As a result, their dance is posted online and they are now up for a national award for their dance.

You can help their group if you can take a moment to vote for them online. If you are willing, here is the link...

http://www.thedancersfederation.com/Gallery/2009_JCA_Videos/Starpower_JCA/2009_starpower_jca.html

You would follow the link and click on the "Vote for Your Favorite Box". A list should come up and you can click on the circle for Minneapolis. Then I think there is a button back up at the top to submit your vote.

Right now their group is in 1st place but there is another group coming up fast. You can only vote once per computer and it ENDS TOMORROW!!!:scared1:

Thanks everyone!
Jen (and Emily)

The routine was wonderful. I cast my vote for you and good luck.

Do you allow your kids to charge on their KTTW Card.
Nope. We go to the onboard shops together once or twice, the kids might get a pin or small souvenier, but there's nothing they need to spend $$ on and they never ask. :woohoo:

If aged 8 to 10 do you allow them to self check in/out?
Nope. The youngest are 12 on this cruise, they will have check in/out privileges, but I will ask to be paged when they leave, so I know where they are going. Not likely anything bad will happen, but at least I can pinpoint their comings/goings should they go missing.:thumbsup2

Do you have a Kids contract for the cruise? IE Do not play with elevators, do not go in other peoples rooms, do not stay up beyond 12 midnight? meeting point at set times during the day, do not over eat?

NO going in other's rooms (I don't even want them in the cabin halls - they can meet their friends in the public areas); I hope they know about the elevators (unfortunately I saw too many teens last cruise who did not!); and they'll each have a curfew TBD. :3dglasses

Do you take your kids on shore trips or allow them to go on teenage ones or stay on ship?

We'll be excursioning all together. In St Thomas, we left them on the ship briefly while we walked around the port, right near the ship. Teen did the Teen Wild Side on Castaway Cay last time around; he loved it!

Do they 'have to' eat with you? say Dinner.
Yup, this is my one big "rule" on the cruises - we all eat dinner together and then go see the show together (so, basically together from around 4:45 til after the show). We are always running in different directions at home, and NEVER have sit down dinners together at home, so this is a nice part of the "family" vacation for us. And the kids have been very cooperative about this on all our cruises; they know the "rule" ahead of time and don't argue about it.:cloud9:

Man, I sound so strict! It's funny, I'm so strict on some things in life, and so relaxed on others! Wanna go racing down a mountain on your bike or skateboard, fine by me! Wanna skip family dinner on the cruise? No way!

QUESTIONS FOR THOSE WITH KIDS ON THE CRUISE AGED 8 AND UP?

Do you allow your kids to charge on their KTTW Card. Have not talk to DH about this yet. The jury is still out.

If so do you tell them there is a limit? I think so

If aged 8 to 10 do you allow them to self check in/out? Even though this is our first cruise we will allow our 9 almost 10 yr old check out as she will probably with her sister who will be almost 13

Do you have a Kids contract for the cruise? IE Do not play with elevators, do not go in other peoples rooms, do not stay up beyond 12 midnight? meeting point at set times during the day, do not over eat?

Great ideas. Had not thought that far ahead. Like the ideas.

Do you take your kids on shore trips or allow them to go on teenage ones or stay on ship? They will not be allowed to go anywhere without us off the ship.

Do they 'have to' eat with you? say Dinner.
It depends on how the cruise goes. If we meet the kids and parents and everything seems fine it MAY be a possibility. However would like to keep it as much as family time if possible.

MINE

Hey I actually was able to respond to several at a time. Thanks:banana::love:

Jen,

Just wanted you to know that I voted for your daughter's team too! The routine was great! Best of luck!

Good Evening Everyone!

Thanks to all of you who voted for DD's dance. The girls on this line are 11-13 years old and we are so proud of them for doing so great against all the other older lines...they have been so much fun to watch this year! We will continue to rally until voting ends tomorrow! It would be so incredible for them to win this huge honor!!!:cool1:

I will be contacting everyone who ordered about the lanyards in the next day or so on the payment and how to get your lanyard.. Sounds like people will not be too upset with the black...as I posted earlier, I really love them. I think they turned out really nice with big lettering, a quality lanyard and a nice clip/card holder.

I went out this evening with my friends who I taught with this last year...it was so much fun and so good to sit and visit with them. :lovestruc They are great gals and I was happy to spend the evening with them...even though I stayed way too long!

Well, I will chat with you all later!!!! Night everyone!!!
Jen

Off Topic...
Two questions about the Oceaneers Club/Lab
1. Will the staff page us to pass along messages from our 12 year old?
2. Can the 12 year old check out a 10 year old or 4 year old?

I will post over on the regular cruise boards if no one can help.
