Uh Oh! How is Hope doing - is she feeling any better?

I looked on the Tortola Navigators and the 5K run is listed for Friday at 9:30a.m. - Meet on the pier. I am thinking I will probably go ahead and do it. I am actually starting enjoy jogging now (I will be checking with the CM that it is ok to jog and you don't have to be a super fast runner!) I am still working on losing some weight and getting in better shape before the cruise. Back in January I said I wanted to lose a stone (14lb in US spak!) before August, well I am up to 20lb lost so far and am now aiming for 2 stone \ 28lb before the cruise. I feel much better for it and had lots of fun clothes shopping the other day!

Andrew, I am hoping that you are having beautiful weather in Venice. Here it was gorgeous yesterday and today (being a bank holiday) is of course clouded over and looking a little chilly!

Anyway, happy Monday to everyone! I guess Monday is not usually the best day but I am looking at it as each Monday is the start of a week that takes us a bit closer to the cruise!!!!

Wanted to make sure you knew about the fire at Mountain Top in St. Thomas.

Oh no !! I feel sad for those "vendors" who lost everything in the fire ...
and DGH and I wanted to visit Mountain top this August ...

What do you think ? Will the vendors put up at least a shack before August ?
Will DCL replace that excursion with a different one ???

Not much to do on St Thomas - apart from beaches ( I'm not a beach-lover ; we have splendid beaches here in Italy - no need to travel across the Atlantic to just spend time on a beach ...)

I think the 5K race sounds great. CONGRATS, on the weight loss. I have been working out with the Wii- and the new Cardio work out. I love it.. Intense, but Great....!!!!!!!!

Hope had to get new eye drops since the first round did not seem to be helping her very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is dear old Venice ?? loads of tourists ?? have you tried their charming "calle" - out from the hustle and bustle of Piazza San Marco ? are you enjoying food ???
TRY SARDINE IN SAOR (sardelle) if you have a chance ...or BRODO DI PESCE (seafood and fish in a rich broth) or RISI E BISI (risotto) or BACCALA' MANTECATO (dried cod in sort of bechamel sauce): they all are really LOCAL dishes (not for tourists - the real Venetian thing !! )

Kritter, sorry that you had such a rough couple of days. I hope that the pink eye has cleared up by now - and that it hasn't migrated to anyone else!!
Andrew - it rained the whole time I was in Venice. I hope that you have much better luck with the weather!!!

I know that someone here will have the answer for this: how do I locate my cabin assignment? I've been checking the DCL site under "my reservation" since we hit 90 days. We are stilll listed as a GTY cabin (by the time we upgraded, no cat 6s to choose from - we have our fingers crossed that DCL picks us out a nice one!! ). Am I looking in the right place???
I've been keeping an eye on it since a few people on our cruise have commented that they've moved from a GTY cabin to an actual cabin assignment.

Time to take the kids to tae kwon do. Have a good night everyone!!

I am inspired by your weight loss! As I have said, I am also trying to loose weight for the cruise...I just haven't done as well. I have lost about 5 pounds at this point but it is time to really get serious. With only 12 weeks to go, I need to really start watching more of what I am eating and work out more.

I am also going to be one of those people who have to jog the 5K - there is no way I will be up to running it!

If memory serves me right , in past cruises we had our cabin assignment about 30/35 days before the actual sailing date - that would be for us around first week in July . I guess DCL waits until they are "fully booked" in order to move up (upgrade) people - or keep them in the cat. originally booked.

We twice had a VERY GOOD upgrade about one month before embarkation : FINGERS CROSSED for you as well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, it's cooler in Milano as well !!
HOPE THAT YOU ALL ARE ENJOYING THE TRIP !!!!

Costa cruise line is too "domineering" ... at least here in Italy we are NOT fond of Costa cruises . They act as if all the most beautiful places are there JUST for them and their loads of passengers ... Costa cruise line has poor respect of natural enviroments as well ...
Poor Piazza San Marco .........

Anyway , YOU are in Venice and I am green with envy !!!!

I saw your trip report had been posted and have just read it all - I was just popping by to our thread to tell everyone to go take a look.

Our last DCL trip was in 2004 and was without children and I wish we had known all the great adult activities available - it looks like you had a blast. This time we have our two daughters (will be 4 and 19 months) so I think we will be taking everything at their pace. I am looking forward to trying a couple of those adults activities while they are in the clubs \ Flounders though.

Anyway, thank you for posting your trip report - detailled and with lots of photos - just how I like them! It has got me even more excited for our cruise in just a few months time!
