Well we had a great time, at the airport now waiting for our flight on BA. Slightly better WiFi connection.

The previous ones were going down in tandem with the Disbaords going slow so lost posts.

First few days very very hot 31c last day windy and cooler, but no rain.

Did all of the main sites, walked around a lot, went on the water buswes, they were crowded but at least 75% of the time we got an outside seat.

Food is ok in Venice but very very expensive, thats before the poor Euro rate.

The food is generally poor the closer you get to St Marks sq, bar the Hard rock cafe, recently opened, looks straight onto a canal with Gondala station.

Service good, I think it recently opened.

Best food is at Lido the beach island of Venice, you can get there on the water bus. Food is better and chepaer there so we went accross a couple of times to eat.

Crowded all the times from 9am to 8pm, we walked around St Marks last night at 10pm, and that wasnt too busy.

Great views clear skys we can see the mountains of the Alps with snow on them,

Hotel was ok, a 5 min walk to anything, typical old Italian style, good breakfast.

Had a water taxi there and back Airport to Venice, and thats a great way to enter, its aobut 40 mins by taxi, and 1.15 by boat.

We had a season ticket for the water buses so we enjoyed going up and down on al lthe bus routes

Went to Murano to see the glass factory, we planned ot go and knew that it was hard sell, they got us a private water taxi to go there, and we made a small purchase.

Great time.

RE: Fish Exchange...
I am still debating participating in the exchange, but I do have a few ideas in mind. In reading other threads I've seen that people leave gifts for just the cabin or for the kids only or adult specific. Has it been decided how you are going to work this exchange?

Thanks.
Gina

Andrew

Thank you for the pictures, I'm sure your family had a great time

THANK YOU

Got to say thats the first time I have seen them, these were taken by my son, some a little out of focus re ship movement, so sorry about that, but its one place everyone should go sometime.

We were in the Hard Rock Café in Venice and the table next to us, a guy got on one knee and proposed, now i thought if you went to all of the trouble of going to Venice you would propose on a Gondola, but, Hard Rock it is nowadays, she was on the mobile cell phone telling everyone after-wards!

I was wondering the same thing. Because some of the folks in the FE are pretty active on the boards, I feel like we've gotten to "know" some families better than others. Especially those who have been so helpful with all our planning!! Would someone feel slighted if we left additional stuff for a family versus just the "planned" FE for another? I have ideas for a cabin gift for all, plus a few little extra things. I just don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.
This is our first FE - last time, I discovered the DIS baords 48 hours before we cruised!! Boy, did I miss out on alot of great information...
Thanks!!

Hi Jude,

I know your question was directed at Kriten as the FE organiser but I just wanted to chime in and say that I think everyone on the FE exchange list will just enjoy whatever gift comes their way, and of course enjoy giving the gifts they have to give.

I know what you mean about getting to know some people through their board participation and can see where you are coming from. I would think that giving your planned FE item (s) to each cabin and then a little something extra for people who you feel have helped you out with planning or who you have connected with would be perfectly fine, so long as each cabin in the exchange gets a little something from each of the participating cabins everyone should be getting more than enough gifts.

I look forward to seeing what everyone else says but thats just my opinion.

Take Care
Mel

Thanks Mel. Yup, we'll have enough for everyone - although I'm trying to narrow down my ideas of what to do. there are so many great ideas on this board!! (thank God - 'cuz I'm not creative and I'm definitely craft-challenged!!! :rotfl2:)
Have a great night all.

Hi Jude,,,

I think what Mel said is Perfect. I think as long as every family gets something from the FE exchange. I know last time a few of us exchanged a little bit more since some of us became close through the Disboards...I know everyone was very appreciative for the exchange and extremelly generous.....The things that we received was Amazing.......Let me know if you have anymore questions!!!!!!

Andrew,,

Great photos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks,, for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1::cool1:

Jude---I agree with you, thank god for all the talented Diser's! I'm not that creative or crafty either. I hope we don't all 'steal' the same ideas. :rotfl::rotfl:
