So I have been reading the thread about customs in St Thomas, I knew we have to do that early in the morning but how early is early?! Also do they still make all non US citizens get up really early for customs on the last day - I thought for some reason I had heard that they had changed how they handled that.

This is DGH (aka Mickey's Dreamers Disney Grumpy Husband)
mickeys_dreamers_i00001c.gif

The idea is the following:
we (non US citizens) have to go through custom every time we enter in US lands (i.e. port Canaveral or St Thomas). While US citizens have to go through custom only when previous stop is non-US land

In our specific case I would bet that everybody needs to wake up early twice because the stop before St Thomas is Tortola, and, before arriving to Port Canaveral, there is Castaway Cay (which is Bahamian land)

Quite correct, if DCL had been on the ball they could have swapped St Thomas and Tortola around and avoided this, basically they are next door to each other and unlike St Maarten, its possible to get back on time to Castaway in one sea day from Tortola,-Then it would be PC>St Thomas direct and no immigration check.

Laura,

Where are you staying for you Easter Holiday????

We are going this year for Easter too??!!!!!

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes
Sorry , my wording was "confusing" ... :confused3
:sad2: No, we are not going to WDW !!! ( It's a long trip for us and we can manage to visit US only once in a year !!! for about 3 weeks :dance3: or so)

 It would have been so nice to meet you BEFORE our cruise !!!
For Easter we are visiting instead Disneyland Resort PARIS ; it's about 2 hours flight from where we live ! We have not yet decided where to stay ; we'll meet with some friends from England and Shetland ... so we have still to "debate" which hotel ...

CIAOOOOOOOOOOO !! laura

Our friend told us that is why they are offering the buy 4 get three free nights at WDW....

Seems the terrible economy is having an effect even on WDW and DCL

:) We could get a great offer : The FREE classic dining plan !!!
So this August we are just paying for our room at AKL ... :dance3: and get FOR FREE 1 counter service meal, 1 table service meal and 1 snack :woohoo:
for each day of our staying !!!

:yay: laura

Having stayed onsite twice at DLP I would suggest the HOTEL NEW YORK, Its the second closest hotel to the two parks, and the cloest to the Disney village shops and entertainement, a nice walk, Also its very close to the rail station, Marne La Vallee-Chessy, for connections to Airport, TGV trains and Eurostar for us!

The Disneyland hotel is the closest and most expensive and IMO, not worth it, the New York is the next catorgory hotel but a lot cheapr, has a better theme, better pool, and good restaurants.

The Disneyland Hotel is a longer walk to Disney Village and Walt Disney Studios. As its above the Disneyland park gates it has a strang layout on different levels, like a bridge.

The rooms at NY are very nice.

We really liked the New York Hotel at DLRP. I have also stayed in Sequoia Lodge during Christmas celebrations which was a bit more basic but still nice.

THANK YOU !! :goodvibes I'll have a look on the Disney site. :)

We have been staying at the Disneyland hotel years ago and I definitely agree it is pricey and not worth it . We LOVED Inventions buffet though !!
When my nephew was a "little cowboy" we stayed at Cheyenne and liked it so so ...
Marco loves Sequoia Lodge - especially at Christmas time : two years ago we had a large cozy room overlooking the water !! :cloud9: Very festive decorations everywhere !!
My friend Hazel and myself this time would like to try the Admiral floor :confused3 at Newport Bay hotel ...

WONDERING what the weather will be like at Easter time ?!??

The one thing I liked about the Disneyland hotel was Innoventions had dinner there very nice, but Hotel New york is a great hotel and imo value for money on a 4 star.

Disney Cruise Line is revolutionizing movie entertainment at sea with the debut of Disney Digital 3-D, a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience premiering exclusively onboard the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder.

Guests will delight as first-run Disney films leap off the silver screen and take on a whole new dimension thanks to Disney Digital 3-D technology being added to both the Walt Disney Theatre and Buena Vista Theatre. Disney Cruise Line is the first cruise line to introduce full-length 3-D entertainment onboard its ships. Disney Digital 3-D premiered onboard the Disney Wonder during the November 20 sailing and will debut on the Disney Magic during the December 6 sailing.

Leveraging this new technology, Disney Cruise Line will take 3-D into uncharted waters in early 2009 with the debut of an exciting new cinematic experience that combines full length Disney Digital 3-D films with in-theatre effects. Tridimensional images will combine with lasers, fog, streamers, and special lighting effects to create an immersive movie-going experience like no other at sea. During these once-a-cruise special engagements, guests will feel the rush of being part of hottest show in town as in-theatre effects enhance 3-D films featuring popular Disney pop stars in concert.

What's that?

Will it be there also during our cruise?

Should be there, I read 'BOLT' is on it now.

I know that the excursions for Tortola should be pretty similar to the ones listed for other cruise lines stopping there but is anyone else anxiously waiting to see what is offered by Disney? Surely the conceirge guests on the first Tortola cruise will soon be able to book their excursions so they must put the info online soon?!!

I am still pondering what will suit us best in terms of excursions in St Thomas, on Castaway Cay we will just hang out on the beach. I parasailled there on my previous trip but with the little ones this time I think just playing on the beach and in the water will work just fine for us.

I have been checking back every day, they must be up within the month, in fact I did calculate it before on another thread I think it was January 10th, as that is 105 days pre April when the first Tortola cruise is on.

Now of course we have far longer before we book, so we can gain info when DCL do put them up.
