To Everyone on our FE List:

I have everyone's room numbers now and late tonight, I will update the website to give everyone the most current information. Here are some important notes:

1. On the website (late tonight) - Download the list of rooms that signed up to participate in the FE. The list will have all the families and all the room numbers listed for you.

2. On the website (late tonight) - Download the .pdf map of the ship that has all the cabins marked to help you quickly deliver your gifts once you are on the ship.

3. On the ship - I will have a white board up on my cabin door (stateroom #7084). If for ANY REASON you have a change in cabins...PLEASE stop by and WRITE it on the white board!!!!! I plan on leaving one white board up on my door just for DIS information. People who are delivering gifts can just walk by my door to be sure they do not need to update their list BEFORE delivering gifts.

Please let me know if there is anything else that I should do to be sure our FE goes smoothly and we all have lots of FUN with our exchange!!!!

Jen

I've been PACKING  4 hours this morning ... but I'm all done !!!
2 big suitcases + 2 carry-on !!!!!

Anyone else is thinking of PACKING ??? laura :goodvibes

Way to go Laura!!!! We are home from the cabin and I will work on packing again tomorrow.

We are so close to having it done but there always seems to be a bunch of little things to remember to throw in...single size laundry products, single serving water flavor packets, rain ponchos (still debating these), special treats for the kids, tons of camera and video equipment (cables, video tapes, memory cards, chargers) and just so much more.

It is almost time to go!!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Jen

Hey Everyone! I had posted this a while ago but I thought I would post it one more time to see if anyone else wants to join us. We are going to go either way but thought it would be fun to have another group from the DIS join us :thumbsup2 ....

Private Tortola Day Sail Excursion: :cool1:

The plans: A full day sail from 9:00AM to 4:00PM. It includes snacks (fruit and possibly some chips for the kids) plus all you can drink drinks all day (rum punch, beers, soda and water). Lunch is not included but we will stop at some beach restaurant (his chef is out of town when we are there).

We will be sailing to Little Jost Van D*** for snorkeling. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to get there and then we would stay there for about 1 hour. Then, we will sail to White Bay. It takes about 1 hour to get there and then we will spend 1 1/2-2 hours at White Bay. It then takes about 1 1/2 hours to sail back. There will be lots of time for snorkeling, swimming and exploring the shores.

The sail boat supplies the snorkeling equipment and has plenty of floating devices (large mats and noodles).

If anyone is interested in joining us for this day sailing event, let me know and I can give you more details.

Thank you again for all of your very hard work...:thumbsup2

We received our cruise documents today!!! party:
But now I have a question - do the documents advise what dining rotation we've been assigned? If so, where????

ummm...I have sooo much packing to do!! My parents' surprise 45th anniversary party went off without a hitch on Saturday and they were really surprised! I am so amazed that none of the 90 guests spoiled the surprise. But I spent so much time on that I neglected our cruise planning. Half of our FEs are done but still have t shirts to complete and packing to do. It's gonna be a busy week!!! :scared1:

Still no documents here . If there anyone else out there that hasn't received their documents?:confused3

Last night as I was trying to fall asleep I was planning in my head my evening dinner outfits-does that count?? :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I have non-esssentials accumulating in a trunk. I have our rain ponchos on the counter, debating whether to pack them. If I do it will almost guarantee no rain for our Disney portion, if i dont, well...

I can't pack my clothes yet because I'm wearing them on a daily basis. Dressier clothes are hanging together in my closet, ready for their bag. Still need to make pirate shirts and tie dyes (but that involves a needle and thread to outline Mickey). I also picked up fabric spray paint to give a try to those spiral Mickey heads, except Megan is at my parents house for a few days so I don't know if I should hold off for her or just do them myself. :confused3

Finished "laminating" door signs last night with Contact paper. What a job that was! I have 5 different sets of ears for 3 cabins, including pirate and birthday. I'll wait until onboard to attach the magnets so they'll stay flat. FE gifts still need to be packaged together and labeled with room numbers (we're still missing two cabins, right?)

Slowly coming along, will still end up spending more time than necessary next Friday and Saturday with last minute packing and laundry. :rotfl2:

I am like you in that I have some things grouped together, but nothing is packed. I think I'm going to do some tie dyes too. I just have to sew the Mickey heads. I haven't found a shirt I like for me yet.
This may be a silly question but what kind of paper di you use for your magnets? Just plain paper or card stock? HOw did you laminate them, I know you used Contact paper...but do you have any tips for the best way to do that? I can't find the post that Kristin (I think it was her) gave her tips.
I also need to asemble my FE gifts. I'm not leaving til the day before the cruise, so I still have time. We don't have much longer though, it will be here before we know it.

Thanks!

Info on laminating the magnets....

I used a heavier premium paper to print the designs on - not a card stock though. Then, I laminated them with the clear contact paper following these steps:

1. Print design on paper - I did not trim them at this point (if they needed it).

2. Measure the clear contact paper to cover the complete front and back of the design. Cut the contact paper.

3. Take the paper backing off the contact paper. Lay the design FACE DOWN on the contact paper. I would rub the back of the design to be sure that I did not have any bubbles.

4. Fold the contact paper to cover the back of the paper. It almost never failed that I got some bubbles when I did this but they were really easy to rub completely out (or if they did leave a little bubble, it was on the back and no one will see).

5. Trim the contact paper - you can also trim the whole thing down at this point if you need to.

6. Cut pieces of magnet strips and put on the back.

YEAH! You now have magnets that were cheaply laminated!!!! :thumbsup2

We got our cruise documents too!!!! It is so exciting!!! Not much in there that we need except for the luggage tags. Either way...it is always great to get Disney mail!!!

You will not find out your dining rotation until we check in for the cruise. I wish that we would know before that point but it is one of those details that I just have to wait for.

I am thrilled that your party was a SUCCESS this weekend! You are a wonderful daughter to plan such an event for your parents - I bet they loved it and appreciated all your hard work.

Now you are done with all the other things on your calendar...time to finish preparing for our cruise!!! :cool1::cool1:

Hi. Okay, maybe I am cheap but I was shocked at how expensive magnetic paper is!! Then I found two internet sites that sell them a little bit cheaper than Staples (even with shipping). In case anyone still has magnets to make, here are the sites:
decalpaper.com or dharmatrading.com

Question for the ladies - is there anyone else "not' planning on getting super dressed up for formal night? My DH desperately wants to "just relax" on the cruise and that means he'll be a little more casual than the rest of the guys in the room. Which is fine with me - but I don't want to be in a gown when he is in a simple shirt and tie. I guess I am just looking for some reassurance that I won't stick out like a sore thumb in a "little black dress"...:confused3 (well, maybe not so "little"! LOL...)

The dresses I have are knee length. Two are a matte jersey wrap style, the other is a Talbots cocktail dress. You'll be fine. I've seen some people dressed to the nines and some who don't dress up at all on formal night. I just want a nice family portrait. My DS suit jacket is a little tight so I told him he just had to wear it for the picture and then he could ditch it.

Jude,
did you order from either of these sites? How fast is the shipping? I was planning on doing the contact paper thing. I know Dharma has great dyes for the tie dyes., but I've never ordered from them.

My husband doesn't want to dress up much since he's on vacation. we are not "dress up" people. I did get somes dresses to wear on the cruise, but they are not long or extremely dressy. They are dressy for me though!:) My DH might wear a jacket and tie or maybe just a shirt and tie. My DS (8) likes to dress up and be fancy!:rotfl2: He wants to wear a suit. Go figure!

I printed mine on regular copier paper (actually Jim printed them at work). If I were to do them at home I would have used cardstock. I trimmed first and then again with the Contact paper on. It probably took longer because I was trimming twice but I saved on the Contact paper used, I just made it with none to spare.:thumbsup2 Attaching the magnets will wait until on the ship-I'm just using magnetic strips in the corners. We're down on Deck 1 so not that many people will see them, just our hallway mates and the FE group. I did find some magnetic paper at ACMoore, 2 (5x7) sheets for $2.99. Some people have found magnetic paper at the dollar store, but I haven't seen any (we have Dollar Tree and Just a Buck here). The magnetic adhesive rolls are pretty inexpensive. I also found a package of 18 self adhesive strips in WalMart for less than $2 in the stationary section.

Your DS and my DS are so alike!!! Ben can't wait to wear his "tux" (I ordered him one on ebay)!!! Actually the whole family loves to dress up because we never get the chance to do so. I still think it is funny that my DS, age 9, loves it as well!

One more comment about the laminating...I have never tried the magnetic sheets because I couldn't stand the price. I bought a magnet strip roll that I just cut into pieces the size I want. It was at some office store for really cheap.

Jen

I'm going completely off topic now. Anyone with boys in the 9-11 age group that can recommend a few good books to read. My DS10 is not a pleasure reader, only reads when forced to. The only book I've seen him sit down with enjoyment is the Diary of a Wimpy kid series. He needs to read 2 books this summer. Any suggestions? I know there are a bunch of teachers on this thread so I'm hoping you can help.

Thanks.

Guess I should have done some homework before sending Sean out with the instruction to 'please pick me up some magnetic paper". Oh well. Please DON'T mention to Sean that I could have done this alot cheaper!!! :eek

Thanks for the reassurance about the dresses. Tess can't wait to get dressed up for, in her words, 'fancy night". I am looking forward to it too.

I can try to give you some suggestions but will be honest...my DS (9) does not like to read at all. I had the same problem with DD until she was in 5th grade and now she doesn't stop reading so I am crossing my fingers about DS.

Here is my list for you:

1. The Last Apprentice by Joseph Delaney (Thick books but very age appropriate, fantasy, one of my favorite series for 10-12 year old boys).

2. Dork in Disguise by Carol Gorman (comedy, not great writing but the boys tend to like the series)

3. Love That Dog by Sharon Creech (realistic fiction but written like a poem so it is easy to read, story about a boy and his dog - love the book! Two books in the series)

I will try to think of more for you but these are probably the ones that come to mind quickly.

Gina,
I checked with Kevin. I have to drag him away from graphic novels like The Watchman to read what I call "real" books. LOL. He really liked "Holes", the Harry Potter series, Lord of the Rings series, Fahrenheit 451 and the Eragon series.
I read somewhere that there is a book series that is set in WDW - with kids solving a mystery in the different parks. I think I have the titles written down somewhere. I'll see if I can find it...
