Hi all! A couple of days of recovery was needed after vacation!! Now things seem to be back on track!!

Now I jumped back into planning mode for our November trip.... I have been procrastinating about the air ressies, probably not a good idea considering the direction prices have been going.

I won't bore you all with the details, but as of 11:55PM last night I was in the process of booking a fare of $118.00 R/T on Spirit... but then all these "fees" started coming up. Most are mandatory (e.g. security fees), but Spirit added a $5.00/pp each way "web convenience fee" - totaling $50.00! Then they also charge to select your seat in advance, but don't disclose that up front (thank goodness I didn't hit the purchase button!). $15 for window, $10 for aisle, and $5 for middle!! C'mon - just work it all into the fare or something. Add on the baggage charges and that $118 fare went way up! Bottom line - I was on the phone with some dude in India at 12:30AM trying to get an explanation of why there's a fee to book in the Internet - presumably the least costly option for them?! It wasn't a pleasant conversation.

New search started today. Got the same fare - $118.00 R/T on Delta; however, there is a change of planes. The alternative N/S trip was $267/pp (with fees/taxes it would have been about $330). So - after taxes/fees the total cost for 5 people was only $800.00 - less than I paid last November. Of course, there's the dreaded plane switch, but hopefully everything will work out :)

How is everyone?!!??

I know so many of these airlines are charging alot of fees, it's crazy. I was trying to convince DH to do a quickie trip to WDW in October, we would only have to pay for airfare, but it's so expensive, he has since vetoed my plan!!:sad2: That's good you got your airfare for cheaper!!:thumbsup2

Just a couple of shots from our trip:

i used to play soccer when i was little. any sports store should sell them like Models, Sports Authority, Dicks Sporting goods and any others that i cant think of right now lol

We use a soccer-specialty store, but for the beginners I would recommend Dick's, Sports Authority, etc. Usually at this time of the year they sell soccer "packages" that include cleats, shin guards, and a ball. As for shin guards - steer away from the kind that simply insert in the socks (slip-ins)... look for the ones that offer good ankle protection (the strap actually goes around the heel) and make sure they are sized appropriately for her leg. Soccer shin guards with ankle sleeves are very good for younger players. Their skills are still on a low level. Therefore, bulkiness around their feet and ankles doesn’t really affect their performance that much.

Hi folks. I haven't posted here in a while but I've been lurking. Harry - looks like you had a great trip! Only two weeks (from tomorrow) until we leave for California!!!! It sure has gotten here fast. Too much work to do before we go but I'm sure I'll make enough progress to relax as much as possible.

Hope you all are having a great week!

jeff

I know Walmart carries shin guards and shoes but we've had the best luck with Dick's Sporting Goods. (do you have those near you?) We've bought anything from Nike, Converse, Umbro. Actually Dave just went there today to get Hayden's gear for this season. I would highly recommend that you buy her stuff now rather than wait, otherwise it could be picked over by the time her season starts. As far as shin guards go, we prefer the pull on sock-type ones over the hard plastic pieces. Both of my kids complain that the hard plastic type hurt. One year we bought 3 different kinds for Hayden to try. Harry will probably have better suggestions for you in regards to the shoes and guards but now is the prime time to buy them! Is Jordan excited to play?
