I finally made it down to San Pedro to see the Magic today!!!! So, while I have never set foot on either of the Disney ships, at least now I can say I have seen them both! Unfortunately, I couldn't find a good place to stop and get out of the car, so I couldn't take pictures. It was after boarding had already started, so I could see people up on deck, and the Ariel Vision was in full swing. In 390 days that will be us! Have a good week everyone!

Hi all! A couple of days of recovery was needed after vacation!! Now things seem to be back on track!!
Now I jumped back into planning mode for our November trip.... I have been procrastinating about the air ressies, probably not a good idea considering the direction prices have been going.
I won't bore you all with the details, but as of 11:55PM last night I was in the process of booking a fare of $118.00 R/T on Spirit... but then all these "fees" started coming up. Most are mandatory (e.g. security fees), but Spirit added a $5.00/pp each way "web convenience fee" - totaling $50.00! Then they also charge to select your seat in advance, but don't disclose that up front (thank goodness I didn't hit the purchase button!). $15 for window, $10 for aisle, and $5 for middle!! C'mon - just work it all into the fare or something. Add on the baggage charges and that $118 fare went way up! Bottom line - I was on the phone with some dude in India at 12:30AM trying to get an explanation of why there's a fee to book in the Internet - presumably the least costly option for them?! It wasn't a pleasant conversation.
New search started today. Got the same fare - $118.00 R/T on Delta; however, there is a change of planes. The alternative N/S trip was $267/pp (with fees/taxes it would have been about $330). So - after taxes/fees the total cost for 5 people was only $800.00 - less than I paid last November. Of course, there's the dreaded plane switch, but hopefully everything will work out

All these fees/taxes are a crock! I think if they did build the fares up on the front end with out adding all that stuff, people would have an easier time forking over the money, even though in the long run it could potentially cost the same.

I have one question about charging for seats......why would ANYONE charge/pay for a middle seat?!
Not a whole lot is going on in my little part of the world. There was the chance that the kids and I would have gone camping this weekend but I haven't heard a final word on it, so I'm not counting on it. I need more than 2 days to get my stuff together! We are probably going to go hang out at my moms for the weekend instead. Hayden's soccer starts next weekend so from then until October, we've got plans every Saturday.

Hi Abby! The seat fees are a bit outrageous. They say you can just take your chances at check-in on the day of your flight and not pay any charge... which would be fine if I wasn't traveling with 3 kids. My problem with them though was that fees weren't disclosed up front though.
I just finished soccer try-outs and now I get the task of having to cut some boys. Never a fun thing. Then we go into our week-long training camp (6 hours per day for the entire week) and my mid-August we'll be in full practice swing. Our first game isn't until after Labor Day though.
Tim's swim season (more like swim year!) ends next week. August is the only month he is off from swimming. And, oh, Keira starts soccer "for real" this September so I'm back to coaching yet another team.... I will be taking it easy over the next couple of weeks to save up my energy!!
Will Keira actually be playing games or is her level more instructional and fun? Hayden's team is a regular team but apparently there are a bunch of select teams at this level too. So his team only has 8 boys as opposed to 12 last year. His coach said he is very competitive and the last 2 years he's coached his boys played in the championship game! I sure hope Hayden decides this year that he loves soccer because he's going to be playing ALOT and for a coach who is expecting a great team!
