Hi! We're booking TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOHOOOO!:cool1:

I'm not very computer savvy so no trailers after us. This is our 2d DCL cruise - the first was in August 06 for the "double dip" to Castaway Cay. There's me (DW), DH (42), DS (13) and DD (9). We're sooo excited to be going on this again.
And my SIL and family will also be with us - she, her husband, DS (8) and DD (7). We told them how great it was. I know they won't be disappointed.:woohoo:

:welcome: aboard!!!

What a great welcome. Thanks everyone.
Well, we're "unofficially" booked - have to wait til Monday for the final confirmation. One Cat 9 room; one Cat 6.
Does anyone have any good information regarding Tortola? I started looking through the old posts on this thread but...there are LOTS. LOL. I googled it, with mixed results (mixed meaning whether people liked it or not). Has DCL been there before?
I can't wait!!!!:yay:

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

We hit the 7 month DVC booking window for our November trip yesterday (currently booked at SSR at 11 months). I was too busy to get on the phone yesterday so I filled out a reservation form on DVC website (which I have used without any problems many times in the past). I received an email back later in the day saying I wasn't in the booking window! Clearly he made a mistake so I emailed back. The response was basically... "ooops", but they said I had to go back and enter a new request on the website?!?!

I picked up the phone instead.... We switched over to OKW (we were hoping for AKV, but realized with the small inventory available that would be a monster longshot... also, a couple of days at BWV were also not available).

Now another month and we'll start making the good 'ol ADRs.... planning...planning...planning....

That happened to me, Harry! I emailed them via the website (like I always do) for our October dates but got the same reply as you. So I rang them day by day and managed to change our week from SSR to BWV - I'd hoped for BCV but it's the Food & Wine Festival thus I was just delighted to get an EPCOT resort...

BTW, Harry, do you happen to watch soccer on the Fox Soccer Channel??? We have this in our apartment in Barbados and it's awesome!!! :thumbsup2 My teenage son watched more footie in the Caribbean than he does at home!!! And that's his idea of a vacation... ;)

Don't you know here I am getting ready for my Training class next week in DC area, and my left knee is swollen. It will not stop me, just make it stiff and tender to walk :sad2:

I was doing so good the last couple of weeks the pain had gone and the knee's felt good. Seems to be my new pattern now. A few good weeks and then a month of stiffness. If it holds true to the pattern in a few days the swelling will go down.

Well good thing the DR appoved my handicap parking pass. I don't like using it when I feel well, but at times like this, I am glad I have it.

He suggested I use a cane because my knee's tend to try to buckle with I move the wrong way, but so Far I've too stubbon to get one :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

It will not stop me, It just makes it hard to stand up or sit down without using something for support ( Edge of table or chair )climbing stair also is a chore when it acts up. Just have to so somethings slower. But at least I can get around.

Hey Karen! We watch our footie on Fox Soccer & Setanta Sports - pretty much a full international lineup. Beats the %^$* of the stuff in this country they try to pass off as good soccer (MLS)! :rotfl:

We watched a little MLS too on ESPN! :rolleyes1 TBH my boys will watch ANY ball kicking-based entertainment plus they wanted to catch a glimpse of Juan Pablo Angel (ex Aston Villa) of the New York Red Bulls. We were impressed that so many Champions League international games were shown too... :thumbsup2

That's a shame, Ed but I hope it won't prevent you from enjoying your trip! :goodvibes I agree with you about the pattern - seems our bodies like to remind us who's in charge... :sad2:

That's good! Get all the planning done and then be able to relax and just wait. And wait. And WAIT! ;) Just kidding!

You have it, use it! My fil has no problem using the one issued to my mil, and he doesn't even need it!

Are you going to get a chance to sightsee? Just yesterday DH and I were talking about DC. He's never been. I went as a teenager and could've cared less about it. Then I went again 7 years ago for work but the only thing I had time for was a trip to Arlington National Cemetery. I would really like to go back some day. In any event, have a good trip!

This is what I know about Tortola.

According to Buffett's Margaritaville web site, the "myth of the cheeseburger in paradise" was inspired by a boat journey Buffett once took in the Caribbean. Buffett states that while subsisting on canned food and peanut butter, he envisioned eating a "piping hot cheeseburger". He reports that upon finally arriving in Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands, he was surprised to find a restaurant serving American cheeseburgers:
...we gave particular instructions to the waiter on how we wanted them cooked and what we wanted on them -- to which little attention was paid. It didn't matter. The overdone burgers on the burned, toasted buns tasted like mana from heaven, for they were the realization of my fantasy burgers on the trip

Not sure if I want a cheeseburger from that place, but I might like to see the place if it still exists.

Hi All
Is this the right thread to say that our family will be on the Aug.15th Tortola cruise? It will be our 4th DCL cruise. It will be me, DH, DS(8) and DD(5).
Newbie here so I'm still getting used to posting and such.
Looking forward to the cruise which seems soooo far away!!!
