8/10/2008 - Mexican Party Cruise - Who's Here??

I can't believe that they don't have Camp Rock on TV over where you are Karen. :( I would say that we have watched it about 5 times here too. It was on Disney Channel on Demand earlier last week than that of the "official premier".

Only 3 more days of school left! Woo hoo!!! I'm sure I'll have a far different opinion about this by the middle of July, but right now I'm ready for a break from all of these tests!

Have a great Monday everyone!:thumbsup2

Wow MIchele we are starting our third week of summer vacation today! Hey folks- someone from the bananahead group to which I proudly belong - went on the Mexican Riviera Cruise last week just returning last night. She filed a brief trip report on our thread but hasn't posted pics yet. Bottom line was she loved the cruise, didn't love the ports (except for Cabo) and had a good time overall. Like others, she reported weird weather but by the time we go I can't imagine it will be as cold as these folks are having it. Once she starts posting pics (or if she does a full trip report), I'll send you a link. In the meantime - look for the bananahead 3 cruise for Nov. 29, 2008 and you'll find it.

Thanks Jeff! :thumbsup2 I'll go and have a look around. That's a little disappointing about the ports - given how much more this cruise is costing compared to it's Caribbean counterpart, I'd rather hoped the ports were esportially sportacular and portstanding... ;)

There is also a report on the Trip Reports board by Brooklyn - who raves about the Mazatlan Zip Line and Dolphins in PV. And someone bumps onto that thread with a rave about Dolphins in Cabo. I think maybe if you try to do these ports on your own it's more difficult than in the Caribbean and that's what my fellow cruisemate did in Mazatlan.

I had a friend on the June 1 Magic. She didn't care for Mazatlan at all. She raved about the Cabo dolphin swim and about the Los Veranos (non-DCL) Canopy tour in PV. Overall she loved the trip.

I'm not going for the ports anyway.

Yes me too. I love the ship and the whole DCL experience. To be honest, we aren't all that fond of St. Thomas and St. Maarten on the Eastern but we still did that cruise 2 years in a row. We prefer the western caribbean ports and are booked on one of the eastern's with tortola. We are just waiting for our DD4 to be old enough to be able to take the St. John's excursion. Too scared to do it ourselves since it's a long haul over there but Disney has a 5-year-old age limit on it. Next cruise to the eastern, we'll be good to go.

Glad to hear your friend liked the Cabo dolphins. We are all doing it. The kids are doing the Dolphin Kids and I'm doing the swim. :cool1:

I think we're going to be seeing a lot of each other on this cruise. ;) We have all the same excursions planned.::yes:: I switched my DS7 and I from the encounter to the Dolphin swim after hearing my friend's review. Her entire family did the swim and they all LOVED it. DS4 and DH will do the encounter at the same time as our swim. So what time is your swim? What else do you have planned for Cabo?:listen: Our excursion is at 8:45am so I'm thinking we'll do something on our own after we're finished, I just haven't decided what.

By the way, I saw your comment about the "Best of Mazatlan" tour and lack of reviews in the Nana thread. I can't remember where exactly I saw it, but I did read a positive review on the boards here.:thumbsup2 It was encouraging. Though I would feel better if I could read more. But, this person is apparently the only one who has taken the tour in what, 3 cruises now. :rotfl: Hopefully we'll start seeing some 6/15/08 trip reports soon.:hyper:

Right now our encounter and swim are both planned for 9:45. But I really want to get to see the kids do their encounter, so I'm hoping that once on board the ship I can switch mine to something later. That's our only plan in Cabo - though i have read there is a hotel (or maybe more than one) closeby to the Dolphin place that we can go to and hang out at their pool if we buy a couple of drinks. I've since lost the info but if I find it, that's definitely what we will do.

In PV, we are doing the day at the Paradise Beach resort. Still can't decide about Mazatlan. I really want to do the zip line myself and will do that if the family decides to either stay on the ship or if they are okay doing the best of mazatlan without me. We shall see.

Ok. Carrying this over to the next page. Come out come out wherever you are.

Please Join Our Cruise Meet

Hey to all you folks who have posted on this thread but haven't been here lately or haven't yet sent your information to be part of the cruise meet...here's your chance. And all you lurkers too..join in the fun. I'm going to keep badgering you (I'll probably even PM all of you) until you send your info. We really won't bite...well I can't speak for Karen...but the rest of us won't. Our Meet will take place on Sunday (embarkation day) at 2:45 p.m. in the Promenade Lounge - just in advance of the safety drill

Here's all you have to do. PM me your first names, hometown, kids' ages, an email address so I can send you the list, your dining rotation and your cabin number if you want to participate in the Fish Extender fun. Any other info you want to share is welcome.

Cool. The House of Blues on Sunset? If so, it's such a great venue. I actually held a huge corporate party there for 2 years running during a trade show back when I still worked for a living ! :rotfl2: Or should I say back when I worked in the corporate world.

Hey everybody. In case you didn't see it, someone is writing a LIVE trip report from this week's Mexican Riviera on the TR board! :cool1:

Actually it's the DTD one - I can't believe they have a band I really love (the Gin Blossoms) performing when we're there... :thumbsup2

Michelle and CAmom - I sent a PM to someone on the most recent mexican riviera sailing who had posted earlier that they were going on the best of mazatlan. They sent me back some input - an overall very good review. If you want the details just say so and I'll forward their PM.

Oooh, I'd love to hear. Please forward it to me.

Morning all!

Another day closer to the cruise!!! Read a thread on the main cruise forum which got me thinking - what's everyone doing for Pirates Night??? Anyone in full-blown piratical costume??? pirate:

I'm just thinking tee-shirts and accessories in the interests of packing... ;)

I'd love to hear about their tour too Jeff.

We don't have pirate costumes ourselves but on our last cruise, there were some pretty good costumes! The guys used to have all matching tropical shirts but Tyler grew :confused3 . Now I am on the hunt for something for him. I may do something tropical again or I may look for the polo shirts from Old Navy with the pirate theme. Haven't decided yet. Does anyone know if Disney has any tropical shirts for boys this year?

Hey folks. Christine (from the nanahead group) just returned from the Mexican Riviera and has posted lots of photos on our cruisemeet for next Nov. Here is the link.

Pictures start on about page 8 I think.

We usually just dress in tropical wear. The girls bought Pirate Princess shirts on the cruise in November and wore them - perhaps they will still fit and we can save a buck. :rotfl2:
