8/10/2008 - Mexican Party Cruise - Who's Here??

I got them on board during the cruise. I didn't wait because I didn't want to lose out by waiting. It was slim pickins. I don't know what they have this time I have read many other threads and people ask and don't seem to get a response. I would imagine they would have some of the same things.

Reading all the trip reports and seeing the photos is REALLY getting me in the mood. :cool1:

I'm weird, I just can't read any of the MR trip reports - I don't want to 'know' anything!!! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

The amount before were:
server: 25.75
asst. server: 18.75
Head server: 6.50
room host/hostess 25.25

Ahhh not too much difference then... :goodvibes

for Mexico things you can buy from what I remember they had in 2005. They had sweat jackets (zip up) and we got ours for $15 and we also got tshirts and they were $8 they didn't have much because we were on the last one before the repo. Just like this time. I know we bought those items and they were cheap I can't remember what else I think they had mugs and hats, everything was real cheap it was nice. I still have my jacket and it is about the only one I wear and it has held up great.

My needs are v-e-r-y simple - I'm just hoping for a couple of cool pins and a Christmas bauble... :lovestruc

Did you buy all of these on board during the cruise or did you wait until the last day?

Thanks! I can't believe we are a few weeks away!

I've recently experienced the 1st Double Dip on the Wonder and, if that was anything to go by, I suggest buying merchandise asap - we happened to wander to the shops on our first evening and people with crazy long lists were buying up the cruise-specific stuff like you wouldn't believe! It was hard to get near enough to even take a look... ;)

I was thinking they were $72 or $76 per person before. For some reason those amounts were stuck in my head. An increase of $8 per person for a 7 night cruise is not that much, IMO. I can't believe that some people are so upset about it, or intend to tip less because of when they booked. It's just over $1 per person per day. I think I can skip a few Starbucks drinks between now and August to make up the difference. ;)

Happy Friday all!:woohoo: Does anyone have any exciting plans for the weekend?popcorn::

I agree. I also love hearing from the folks proud that they skipped dinner on the last night to avoid tipping. :furious: They say "the cruise is so expensive, why should I tip?" Well, duh... because these people live by their tips.

Ok off the soapbox.

The weekend? A relatively slow one here. We have swim lessons for DD4 at 9:45 a.m. tomorrow, tennis for DD9 at 10 a.m., we're going to see Peter Pan (starring Cathy Rigby!) tomorrow afternoon. I have a couple of writing projects that I am really hoping to tackle.

Does DCL still collect tips at dinner? :confused3
This is our first DCL cruise. We are by far not faithful to a cruiseline. RC, Carnival and NCL all add the tips directly to your stateroom account. It's nice because you don't ever have to worry about having enough cash left. We just go to the purser's desk and make any changes if needed.

So very classy... :sad2:

I can't believe people do that! Unless I had the most horrific service meal after meal, I might tip less. I would never skip tipping out-right! I would feel so terribly that I would not enjoy the memories of my cruise. I think that when you book a cruise, you know that you still have to tip. Yes, the cruise is expensive but you don't HAVE to take one. If you can't afford the tips, then you probably can't afford the cruise!

It was really odd on the last night to see so many empty tables in the dining room on our last cruise. I only hope those people were tired or whatever and still paid a visit to pass out the tips.

Ok. Carrying this over to the next page. Come out come out wherever you are.

Please Join Our Cruise Meet

Hey to all you folks who have posted on this thread but haven't been here lately or haven't yet sent your information to be part of the cruise meet...here's your chance. Our Meet will take place on Sunday (embarkation day) at 2:45 p.m. in the Promenade Lounge - just in advance of the safety drill

Here's all you have to do. PM me your first names, hometown, kids' ages, an email address so I can send you the list, your dining rotation and your cabin number if you want to participate in the Fish Extender fun. Any other info you want to share is welcome.

And I'm really talking specifically to:
fawn

scrapndisney
llachance

itallstarted

rantybaby

jillnan
princssdisnygina
dlgrn3

Thought I'd give it one more shot before sending everyone a new list!

Well are weekend started HOT :sunny:and is ending HOT for the first day. We had a fund raiser car wash that went non stop for 3.5 hours:car:. I look like a lobster and my daughter just cracks up and says look how dark I'm getting showing her tan. We don't have anything planned for tomorrow except church and then maybe work on the deck and then the pool. Maybe the kids will be able to swim in it this summer :rotfl2: Between the Washington weather and all the work we have to do probubly next year:confused3 Hope the rest of you are having a great weekend:cool1:

When When When are we going to get a room assignment. This is the first time we have ever booked a GTY cabin. We have always selected a cabin but wanted to book Cat 8 this time (instead of a 5 - too pricey-- or 9- didn't like the cabin selection when we booked). So when in the world are we going to get our assignment? Hoping against hope for an upgrade (or at least to be able to buy one at the port). Seems that cat 5 and 4 are the only things they are selling at this point.

We are headed to Disneyland tomorrow. It is going to be a hot one! I wish all of you a great weekend!

have fun!!!!! And Andria...please consider joining us at the cruise meet. Don't forget to send me your information for the cruisemates list!

Have fun! We were driving nearby late this afternoon and my DS7 asked if we could go get annual passes.:lmao: We told him we didn't have time since he's going stargazing with scouts at 8pm. It was about 5:30pm and he was willing to forego the rides just so we could get the passes. We let our passes expire last November and have been waiting for a good time to get them again. We're need to do it soon, the boys are getting antsy to go back. The little one askes nearly every week when we can go to Disneyland. :rotfl:

I think we're going to drive down to San Pedro tomorrow...take a look at our ship to build some excitement. :thumbsup2

I think if we were able to do that that our collective family's heads would pop off from the excitement! :lmao:
