7th January 2007, Dancing Queens Thread CONTINUED

Mandy,
How was your walkabout town?...entertaining I hope...Did ya buy anything interesting?....

I wish Betsy. I'm bursting to get some clothes for the Summer and I haven't seen anything yet. At least it got me out of the house for an hour or two.

I got word tonight that my cousin died today.

She had just turned 39 in January and had two children 13 and 14 years old. :guilty:

 Oh Robin, I am so sorry to hear your sad news, and at such a young age too. Was she poorly ? or was it out of the blue ? Thinking of you at this sad time

...........................

Well girls, I haven't got much on today. I'm taking my mum shopping and to have her hair cut and then I want to go for a brisk walk before my weigh-in tomorrow

Betsy - enjoy your busy Thurday
Robin - Take care
Kelly - Where are you girl ?? I hope you're doing something fun

Have a good day girls

My cousin had breast cancer that had spread to her liver.

Cancer seems to run in her mother's side of the family, which is not my side of the family. Her dad was my dad's brother.

Most of the cancers in my family are what I call the "self-inflicted" type, you know heavy smokers or heavy drinkers.

I'm pretty sure that Bev was not a smoker though.

Here is a bit of an interesting story my cousins name was Bev (Beverly Ann) Edwards and my dad (her uncle) name is Bev (Beverley Alan) Edwards. She was not really named after my dad, her mom just liked the name.

My brother's name is Beverley John Edwards but he goes by John and my nephews name is Beverley Blake Allen Edwards and he goes by Blake.

A lot of Beverley Edwards's in my family ::yes:: I'm not sure why because I personally don't find it a very attractive name for a guy. :confused3

Mandy, I really need to start up some other form of exercise besides dance classes.

Or I need to stop eating so much junk.

I've put back on a few pounds and I really do not want to go back down that road again:rolleyes:

Did any of you name your kids after anyone?

We did not, although some of the names we used have been used by others in the past.

We chose them because we liked the names not because we wanted to honour anyone.

Of my 7 nieces and nephews I think only one niece was NOT named after someone.

All 7 of my nieces and nephews have 3 given names.

My children are the only ones in the family that only have 2.

Oh Robin, how awful for your cousin to have had breast cancer, it is so sad that she leaves her kids behind

As for names, when Kerry was born I said to Paul 'OK, it's Kerry, Terri or Kelly, you choose' as they were all names we liked. As for Becky, we liked the name Rebecca, but she only gets called that when she's naughty :rotfl2: Both girls don't have middle names, middle names just seem useless to me :thumbsup2

It was just as well that we didn't have any boys as we couldn't agree on a boys name

We had a harder time with girls names:confused3

Alex's name we had picked out way before we were even thinking about having any children.

It's just the name we decided that we liked.

I know what you mean about not calling them by their full name.

Hardly ever happens here either, although I will use Elizabeth at times when I'm speaking about her to someone else.

Middle names are really only useful for further identification, for example if you get two people with the exact same names.

My mother was telling me yesterday that my aunt went to get some form of identification and found out that there were 5 girls born on the exact same date as her with the exact same first and last name.

I'm guessing that is in the country of Canada or maybe the province of Ontario, don't know for sure.

How likely is that to happen.

Hi all! :goodvibes

I've been a very busy bee around here! I think I'm going to cave under pressure trying to keep my schedule and the kid's schedule straight while cleaning house and planning for our trip!:dance3:

I am very sorry to hear about your cousin, Robin! Lots of hugs for you! :flower3:  I will be praying for you and all of your loved ones! How is Rick feeling these days?

Betsy & Mandy, hope you girls are doing well! Guess what... I get to go shoe shopping on Saturday!;) :lmao:

You guys were chatting about namesakes... I had a baby book of names while pregnant with Chad. He kicked so hard in my tummy, I swore he was doing some kind of karate moves in there.

I saw the name Chad and by the name was the meaning... Warrior.:lmao: I think it fits him perfectly!:rotfl:

As for Carolin... this may be a bit cheesy! I took CW's grandfather's name (Carroll), and the first part of mom's name (Linda) and smooshed them together. (Pregnancy makes you do funny things;) )

Her middle name is Josephine after CW's grandmother... I joke and say she has a redneck princess name! :scared: :rotfl2:

Hope you all are having a great evening! Now group hug...:grouphug:

Hey Kelly.

Slow down and enjoy the moment.

All that cleaning will still be there tomorrow or next year.....

whenever you get around to looking for it again.

I guarantee it:thumbsup2

Thanks for the name explanations.

You pronounce Carolin like Carolyn not Caroline??

and my youngest sons Name is Douglas Anthony...The Douglas is after my Dad..His name was Loren Douglas...I didnt want to name my son "Loren", and I didnt like the name of Tom(my dads nickname)that much...and I liked Douglas...So ....:thumbsup2
and the Anthony is DH"s twin brothers name....
Now my eldests, eldest sons are named, Michael and Douglas.....:goodvibes So the names go on....
Doug and his wife named the younger of the twins Elizabeth, after me:cloud9: ...because at the time she was the youngest of five as am I, but they had another daughter(Emily)..Thats OK...Its still nice to have my name live on ....;)

Mandy you are right about winter. I've about had enough.

Although you can really feel that the sun is growing stronger and warmer, so there is hope that winter will soon leave us. It's taking its time though.

Also this weekend is Daylight Saving Time change weekend. So the days will be light much longer, probably till almost 8pm so that will be great :sunny:

As for weekend plans, we have plans to go out for dinner with friends tomorrow night, weather permitting of course. We don't see them very often and they are soon going to move about 10 hours away. They are moving to the north into a small cabin that they have built on some farm land. There is no electricity, they have a generator.:scared1:

Not my idea of a good place to live but if they are happy, then they can do it.

Sunday is funeral home visitation for my cousin, weather permitting again of course. She will be at a town about 40 minutes or so away.

Monday will be her funeral.

Next week is what is called "March Break" for the school kids around here. The schools all close for their winter break. Lots of people head south for the week. I hope the weather will not mess up all of their plans.

Betsy, thanks for telling us about naming your family. It's always interesting to hear how people figure these things out.

Liz has a friend who is pregnant and you would not believe the names that she is coming up with for this poor child :sad2:

Betsy - aren't you a great grandma, you're always making stuff with your grandkids - it's great. Have fun making your candles

Your plans for you DGD's birthday sound great. We bought Kerry a 'Birthday Girl' tiara from a shop in the Florida Mall, it wasn't Claire's Accessories, but something similar

Robin - Have fun with your friends tomorrow night :thumbsup2 Me and Paul are going out for an Indian meal tomorrow night with some friends too. I'm really looking forward to it.

I hope the funeral goes well on Monday, I'll be thinking of you

Kelly - Enjoy your shoe shopping :thumbsup2

Okay I've reached my quota for the year.

It can stop now.

Just got word that a cousin of my dad's has just passed away.

Now she was not a young lady, just short of 80 years old.

They found out in the past few weeks that her body was full of cancer:guilty:

I was quite close to her son who was my age.

Hey Kelly.

Slow down and enjoy the moment.

All that cleaning will still be there tomorrow or next year.....

whenever you get around to looking for it again.

I guarantee it:thumbsup2

Thanks for the name explanations.

You pronounce Carolin like Carolyn not Caroline??

You are so right, Robin! I'll remember that! And yes... you got it right!:thumbsup2 It's pronounced like Carolyn!

Enjoy your dinner tommorrow night! I will be thinking of you on Sunday!

Gosh Robin, I just read your last post! I'm sorry to hear about your father's cousin! More hugs heading your way. Keep your head up, and try to enjoy your weekend!:flower3:

Never too busy to find the right pair of shoes!!:lmao:

I'm looking for a pair of heels, the nice going out shoes, to match my dress that I bought for formal night! Since prom is coming up fast for the high schools, I'm hoping the pair I have in mind will exist somewhere.:cool2:

I hope you and Paul enjoy your meal tommorrow night!:goodvibes
