7DMT after Tron becomes an ILL$

Cosmic Rewind opened 5/27, but Remy didn't move to regular Genie+ until 5/31. My guess is they'll do something similar at MK with two ILL$ for the first few days of Tron operation. Total speculation though...who knows lol?!

Is rider swap?
It sounds like it is but may not always be needed during a party if the attraction is basically a walk-on. I would anticipate that those with a longer standby line will allow for riser swap but those with a shorter wait may not? Just purely a guess on my part though.

I just want to add my 2 cents regarding the conversation over customer satisfaction and Genie+. In my experience (and I work with/talk to people all the time traveling to Disney, many of who are first time guests or haven't traveled in a long time) most people think Genie+ is just the way things are. They are used to having to pay for "skip the line" passes at every other park so they just take it as it is and don't really complain about it (outside of maybe talking about the actual process being confusing). In fact, when Fast Passes were free, most people were surprised they didn't have to pay anything. I once got into a friendly debate with someone who thought she'd received something special with free Fast Passes.

When you are talking to what I'd refer to as "Disney fanatics" (like you may find on this forum), you hear a lot more complaining about the service as a whole. These are also the people who are more likely to respond negatively to a survey (or respond AT ALL to a survey). For what it's worth (and I understand that I don't talk to everyone traveling to Disney), it's not as unpopular as people here seem to think.

Moving to Theme Parks Community board as we're going to keep actual scenarios in the main board and discussions of what might happen in Community to avoid confusion.

Between this and GotG keeping the virtual queue, MK/Epcot hoppers are going to have some interesting choices to make at 7am each morning.

Disney just announced that 7DMT will remain ILL$ after the opening of Tron.

Yeah that's a bummer. I really did think that they were going with a one ILL per park model, and I have always felt that such a model would feel less money-hungry, or something? I can stomach Genie+ excluding THE top tier ride, but for me having more than one ILL in a park feels kind of icky. Don't get me wrong. I'll still go, but I'm just not loving this particular decision.

The worst was Epcot when Genie started. Remy and Frozen were ILL leaving TT and Soarin as the only worthwhile G+ attractions. And even then Soarin’s line is manageable a lot of the time.

Now that an reliable confirmation has been announced re: 7DMT WILL remain as an ILL$ after TRON opens, moving back to the main board as it is no longer rumour.

I'm not surprised. 7DMT will continue to be a very popular ride especially since there is a big height requirement difference in that and Tron. This will still be a top thrill ride for young children with high demand.

Genie+ started with TWO $ILL$ per park so this is in line with that. They likely adjusted to one to increase Genie+ sales. From all observations Genie+ is selling well now so there would be no reason to not go back to the original model, especially at MK.

This decision runs contrary to Iger’s public statements that visiting the parks have become too expensive, and also devalues the benefit of Genie+.
I don't think we can take his statements and make them literal. I think we are seeing more discounts on hotels this year than we've seen, maybe even pre-COVID. We saw parking lot fees dropped. But we will also see some things changed to make up for that income like making restaurants prix fixe.

But some things like Genie+ (an Iger program) will likely stay at about the same price point, just have some operational adjustments. Not moving 7DMT to Genie+ doesn't mean spending more money, it just means they won't be discounting a very popular ride.

Magic Kingdom has LOTS of rides and it is the park that gives Genie+ top value. Two $ILL$ of two very popular rides makes sense.

Genie+ has always sold well. They adjusted it because Genie's GSAT scores were abysmal (People hated it), and they were trying to improve the experience. Obviously, leadership no longer cares about that abysmal gsat scores for genie given the current cash crunch disney is facing.

I've read articles stating that genie plus has been selling out fast. Also Magic Kingdom and Hollywood studios have been getting fully booked from theme park reservations calendar.

I'm not sure I would qualify it as 'fast'. Genie+ has been in place for 15 months and has sold out 3 times and all of those at 1PM or later.

Busier weeks (such as this week that was Spring Break for many areas) MK and HS fill but not often other than holidays or prime vacation weeks.
