We have a 9 - 10 FP for 7D when HEA is at 9:00. My kids, and my daughter specifically, don't love fireworks. I, on the other hand, would love to experience being on 7D during fireworks. How should I play this??????

Have you asked if they would mind doing it during the fireworks? I imagine it's pretty cool. We've done Dumbo a couple times during fireworks and I love it.

Do they dislike fireworks or are they scared of fireworks? If they just don't like them theres enough else on 7D to distract them. If they hate fireworks and will freak out seeing them, I'd wait until the end of your FP window.

The fireworks are really cool when riding 7DMT, especially since they're shot off really close to that. I would just ask them if they minded riding it while the fireworks are going on?

It's the sound of them that gets to my daughter. Both of them wear the ear muffs, but I have heard that it's even louder by 7D. We did the dessert party two years ago and my daughter hid in her stroller (4 1/2 at the time). My son was ok - just not his favorite. I'm hoping since it's two years later, it might be better, but local fireworks have proved otherwise. Trip is a surprise so I can't ask them yet. But at least I have it secured and can change it if they say no way. How long is HEA?

So I road 7DMT during the villans after hours, and they shot off some firewoks. It was the worst time to ride because of the direction of the wind was blowing. We got pelted with ash during the entire ride. It was awful

I love fireworks but HATE the noise, so I bring ear plugs to wear if we decide to watch any of the fireworks shows. I would not ride SDMT during that time, even with earplugs. If the wind is right, you will have ash falling on you and will be standing in a cloud of smoke.

BTMRR or Splash are better choices.

oh man - didn't even know the ash/smoke could be on you while riding - that doesn't sound fun.

so we have splash from 7 - 8, space from 8 - 9, and 7D from 9 - 10.

if i do want to avoid hearing fireworks, could we be IN space mountain if we check in at 9 for the ride?

Yes you could be in space mountain, that probably would be your best plan. You could always hang out in the gift shop for a bit afterwards until it ends. I haven't had an issue with ash the times I've been on, but riding with headphones wouldn't work, you could risk losing them. HEA is 18 minutes long.

You would be in Space Mountain when the fireworks start, but as @SG131 mentioned, the show is 18 minutes long with fireworks throughout. So for the finale, you might be off the ride before the finale if you have a FP. If you took your time though and hung out at the gift shop, you would probably be alright. You then could ride 7DMT anytime after the fireworks were over and be fine.

HEA is about 20 minutes. So, if it starts at 9pm, it should be done by 9:20pm and you can go on 7D at that time. :)

ok - thanks everyone! i think avoiding HEA near the 7D area is our best bet. it will be a very crowded night. i wonder if we could do space and people mover or speedway during those first 20 minutes or so. it's battling through the crowds from splash to space that worries me!

As for the crowds, you should be able to go through the main hub as the CM's will make sure to keep the path clear. Just make sure you go through before it starts at 9 or you'll get trapped where you don't want to be lol. It also shouldn't be too bad going behind everything and through Fantasyland, but obviously that's the longer way around. If you did Space at the start, you really wouldn't need to do another ride during those first 20 minutes. People Mover has parts outside, so you would still hear some fireworks if that's a concern. I guess I would do Space at the start and then see how it goes. You might end up off the ride and HEA is already over, enabling you to go to 7DMT. But by all means, ride the others if you want to :)

Just something to point out, make sure you leave enough room to get to Space mountain. On my first visit with my dad, we got stuck behind the castle because they were about to start the show and they wouldn't let anyone beyond the area until after. Safety reasons and all I guess. Shouldn't be a problem if you head over to that side after Splash but it is something to be aware of.

Ok - I switched some things around. We have 7D from 7:00 - 8:00 and Space from 8:00 - 9:00 and then another 7D from 9:00 - 10:00 (glitch in the system for my kids - Disney is aware, can't fix, so we did get a bonus FP for them).

I am liking the idea to be INSIDE space for the beginning of fireworks and hang in gift shop until the end. I like this plan even better now b/c my husband is the one who will take my kids on space and i will get to watch the show by myself :)

We also have a Tony's ADR at 7:40. Is there anyway to fit that into this plan and will there be walking restrictions between these locations?

You run the risk of missing the space mountain fastpass mainly because the convention is building in 1.5 hrs for a sit down meal (anything from previous delays to particularly slow service to any other number of things can be them behind and make you late for other appointments like FP). I'm not sure of the walking restrictions from Main Street Hub to Tomorrowland, but if you do manage to get out within an hour of your ADR you'll likely be trying to get through crowds that have firmly planted themselves for fireworks.

The Tony's ADR will cause problems. That's just not enough time to work in, and you'll likely completely miss the Space Mountain FP time, even if you are seated right away and eat fast. As @Unvoiced_Apollo said, you'd also likely run into a large crowd waiting for the show, and it will be all standing room only by that point. There is a 15 minute grace period at the end of your FP+, but I wouldn't risk it.

Yeah - I'll cancel. Not worth it. I'll have to re-look at everything and make a better plan. Thanks everyone!
