Got the first part of my order today!

WhooHOO! We leave for Disney this Saturday, so this is great to take along!

Dawn

We got ours today..boy, are those pears cold. I hope they didn't freeze. We'll have to eat them fast, in case they did. The look beautiful, just very very cold. The other stuff was also well worth the money. I went by the pound, so even thought the cheese balls and some of the log cheese were smaller sizes than I buy at HF's in person, it's still a bargain.

I think the cheesboard was a really good deal. I got that to go with the cash for my granson, who loves cheese and loves my cutting board. He's going to love it. Full size products with that.

we got everything but the hams today. The pears were looking pretty bad but the ugly is only skin deep! LOL They are quite tasty!

For those of you who have ordered-What are the expiration dates on the sausages and cheeses? Also, do they need to be kept refridgerated? I am trying to decide whether it would be good for us to order to take to DW with us next month.

Thanks.

Our pears came too and they are delish as are the pretzels. The rest is waiting for the superbowl. All looks good though.

Just finished unpacking my goodies...like another Christmas! So many boxes for less than $45 including shipping.

I was charged the correct amount (with the additional 15% discount applied).

The exp. dates are mostly October 09, a couple are late May.

Yum yum! I hope everyone is as pleased as I am.

We got 1 box today with turkey stick and cheese and crackers and mustard.

Expiration date was October! :)

We got our package today. Quick question: Am I supposed to refrigerate the summer sausages and the cheeses? I'm pretty sure they are at room temps at the mall, but I can't remember. TIA!

Refrigerate! Especially once opened.

I had the same question and called them directly to ask this is a copy of the post:

Thank you! Okay, I'll admit it I panicked and before I received your response called Hickory Farms. You were right the stickers on the boxes are standard practice but this is what he advised:

cheese crocks must be refrigerated
cheese "logs/sticks" need not be refrigerated until after opening
cheese balls need not be refrigerated until after opening
sausages need not be refrigerated until after opening
Petit Fours oddly enough he advised refrigerate to keep fresh
chocolates again advised refrigeration to prevent color changes
Pears - refrigerate to slow down ripening, keep on shelf to enjoy right away. (gotta add - they are good! I'm eating one right now. I was kind of iffy when I first saw them because they do not look too great - but they are yummy!!)
Oh, dried fruit -do not refrigerate but keep in a cool/dark place for best storage.

So as you can see most does not have to be refrigerated until after opening! HTH!:goodvibes

I've left the unopened sausages in the pantry for a few weeks and never had an issue. I'm always iffy on cheese so I will put in the fridge/freezer.

BTW...GO STEELERS!! :thumbsup2

FYI:

I got the second half of my order today and it was the wrong item. I called c/s to get the basket with apples, pears and caramel that I ordered. The CSR said I was e-mailed that they were out of it and would send me a substitution. I looked at all my e-mails from them and even the last one stated the correct item. She agreed to send me more pears to make it "even", although they are out of caramel sauce. She said about 30 people were substituted.

Also, she said they have had lots of complaints about their fruit. I looked at the pears I got and threw 2 of them away. Most have brown spots and are bruised. The apples and other snacks look fine. Just thought I'd let others know....:rolleyes1

Well, my plan has been ruined!

I was going to gift some of this to my father for helping us with our new house... and I had to take DH to the Veteran's ER about an hour away and called him to go walk our doggie.. and it was delivered today!

He saw the big box on the porch, wondered why I ordered so much and went home to check out the webpage!

....He called and left me a message asking me why I didn't tell him about the sale, there is some great stuff on there!
...Don't you hate when your plan is spoiled?? :rotfl:

I agree. Throwing them away w/o peeling them was a waste of good fruit.

I've just been peeling and cutting them up. The kids have been chowing down on them happily.

Actually I cut into both of them and they were not edible IMHO. The first one had a "hole" in it like someone had pushed a thumb in it. Since I don't know their packaging and processing methods, I didn't feel comfortable eating a fruit that had the flesh exposed for a long time. The second one had some many soft spots under the brown ones that there wasn't much fruit to eat. The rest of them all have brown spots but I cut those away. If you know how these pears looked in recent years, this is a huge step down in quality.

I know it's a step down. I did email them to express my dissatisfaction over their version of 'slightly blemished' and what I received but I'll deal with it for the price of the fruit. ;)
