Southwest Airlines is having a 72 hour sale with $40 one way fares for 450 miles or less. Have to travel between August 23rd & November 16th.

There are other specials for $80 and $120. I "changed" our flights. It's kind of annoying because we now have almost $1000 in airline vouchers since we had the non-refundable fares for our party of 8 but I guess I'd rather have the vouchers than just pay the money. Someone in our family will be flying somewhere so hopefully they will be "purchased" from us at some point here. We may be going to AZ for Christmas so maybe my FIL will "purchase" them from us for that since they pay for us to fly out. It's a great deal if I end up getting my almost $400 back!

From what I understand the new policy (Jan. 2011) at SW is that the travel credit can only be used by the person whos name is on the credit. It can not be transferred to another anymore and that it must be used within a year from the date the original flight was made. Better check into this...

I called today becauseci switched to the cheaper flights. The credit can only be used by the person the reservation was originally created for.

Thanks for posting this- I saved $35 per person on one leg of our Nov trip x 5 = :cool1:

Does this mean the name must be the person who booked the flight, myself, or for the persons actually flying, myself and my daughter? Can only I use the credit or can she use the whole thing or just half of my credit since it was all booked as one ressie on my credit card?

I went out on SW's site to price some flights. Wow, some really good deals! Wonder if I could squeeze in one more trip.....? Oh, wait--I'm already going 3 times this year, and dh already thinks I'm nuts, LOL! And I haven't told him that I upgraded to an Annual Pass...
(When the Disney bug bites, it bites hard! ) :)

Yes, I did more checking, they break it down per person, so only that specific name can use the money. It really stinks! But in the end, my grandparents used their $380 credit to book flights for Christmas today. My mom and I discussed it today and we may make a trip in Feb. to visit them in FL so we'd only forfeit my DH's $98. It really is uncool that it can't be used for me and the kids but oh well, such is life. I guess if I was cool with paying the price before, it shouldn't make a difference. At least we'll get another trip to FL. It will cost me next to nothing since we'll stay with my grandparents. I doubt we'll do WDW again that soon but we might check out the new Legoland that opens in Oct. since it's only 10-15 min. from my grandparents.
