So, I decided to take a quick trip to WDW after school ended (6/21) but before camp started (6/27)--my mother lives in Tampa, so I justified the trip by taking my kids to visit my mom. We had two days at WDW and three days in Tampa (wish it had been 5 days at WDW). The kids' last day of school for the year ended at noon on June 21st and we were on a 3:22 pm flight from Boston to MCO. Arrived at BWV at about 8 pm, checked in and headed to the pizza window on the Boardwalk for a quick dinner, then it was off to the pool and water slide at BWV for an evening swim!!! If you haven't been there, the water slide at BWV is spectacular.
The next day, 6/22, started early--7:30 ADR at Chef Mickey's--we arrived at 7:00 am (why can't I get them out of bed that easily for school!?!?) just as they opened and were seated right away. It was just as exciting as we had remembered from our last trip. DS is totally into getting autographs from the characters--this is a great way to start your day!
Next, we were off to MK--not crowded at all in the am--hit all the highlights--space mountain, buzz lightyear, stich's great escape (my least favorite), big thunder mountain, haunted mansion (splash mountain broke down). No matter how many times I see Mickey's Philharmagic it still amazes me. Never waited more that 20 minutes in line, even when the board said that the wait time was 30 minutes. By 2:00, however, it was so hot (96, I think) and so crowded that we had to bale out and take a break. Went for a quick swim at BWV, then off to AK.
Arrived at AK at about 4 pm (our first time at AK)--saw some of the parade--it is so magnificent--so imaginative--not like any other parade I've seen. We went through Dinoland (boneyard was a big disappointment--the kids were really underwhelmed but DS loved Dinosaur).
We arrived at the entrance to Kali River Rapids at 5:20 pm, hoping that the crowds had already gone home. The posted wait time was 40 minutes, so we figured a 30 minute wait was do-able. We had a 7:30 ADR at Boma, so I figured if I got a little wet at 5:45 I could be dry before dinner. Got in line, and waited, and waited and waited. The line kept moving but it went through several buildings, etc.--each time we thought we would turn the corner and be at the loading area, we landed in another building. We had no idea--we ended up waiting for 1 full hour!!!!
Got on the ride at 6:20 pm and I and DD got totally and completely soaked. We got so wet, that I had to buy new shorts for me and a new outfit for my DD (to the tune of $70) (Of course, I knew instinctively that there would be clothes for sale just outside that ride!!!!) DS wisely wore his swim trunks, so he was fine. After changing we got to Kilamanjaro Safari for the very last ride--no wait and it was fabulous. 
Arrived at BOMA 15 minutes late, and we were seated right away which was good because we were starving. We loved the food at Boma, but I wish that the room was not so big and open. After dinner, I offered to take the kids for a swim, but, shockingly, they just wanted to go to bed!!!
The next day, we spent 12 hours at Epcot. DD did not want to ride Mission: Space as she was too scared--DS rode the tamed down version and said it was not nearly as good as the full strength version. The great new addition at Epcot is the Crush show in the Living Seas--it is just spectacular. Crush is on the screen, in animation, but he talks to the kids (calls on the kids in the audience by describing what they are wearing)--Crush's commentary is hilarious, and the kids really believe that the animated character on the screen is talking to them.
We had dinner at Chef de France--I was really disappointed--the food was just average, and, IMHO, the atmosphere was nothing special. We ended the day by wandering through the World Showcase--DD loved playing the drums in the Outpost, and DS loved wandering around the shops in Morocco. All in all, we spent two very magical days in WDW, and it was a great way to celebrate the end of the school year--I hope we can make this an annual celebration!
Can't wait for our November trip with DH. . .
