70 to Freezing in 7 hours. A Nov/Dec 2011 trip report. Updated 4/28

Were those pastries at the Canadian pavillion or in front of the old Millenium Village? They look yummy! Too bad you didn't get to hear the story about the gnome. I love the costuming for Father Christmas!!

You just really didn't have weather cooperating with you that day!

I hope you were able to get to see the last storyteller.

Yay! for meeting Alice!

That was nice of you to buy that pin for your mom.

I've heard that the storytellers are awesome to see, but I do think that my Kadence would probably be bored with the ones she wasn't familiar with.

I can be anti-social too, but usually it's at the grocery store and I can duck into a different aisle!:lmao: Poor Momma!

How was she when Father Christmas plunked down next to her!:rotfl2:

I found some of the Kidcot stations hard to find too! We had to ask, and still was confused in Canada!

That picture of the totem poles like like it was snowing! Which wouldn't be that crazy if you were really in Canada.

If that's what the area between England and Canada is called yes.. There was a pin station and a snack station right beside each other in between the two pavillions

I think I liked the UK's costume the best.. You'll have to wait and see if we saw the last story-teller ;)

You just really didn't have weather cooperating with you that day!
We didn't have the weather cooperating with us any day that we were in Epcot.

That is so cool what Father Christmas did.
Yeah it was brill although I still wanted his bell.. I can't remember the story behind that but he gave it to a child. That's not the first time Momma's had that happen with Santa. We went to Lapland a few yaers back there and my nephew gave us his Santa letter to deliver and when we went in Santa was like oh it's been a while since you've visited me to Momma.

I hope you were able to get to see the last storyteller.
You'll have to wait and see to :goodvibes

Yay! for meeting Alice!
Yeah that was a little random. She was literally standing there on her own and the shop was crowded but nobody seemed to notice her. That happens us all the time in there though because I went to see Pooh and Tigger there one year and again they were just standing there on their own. Seems a good spot to meet characters minus a long queue. :thumbsup2

That was nice of you to buy that pin for your mom.
I always try get her something small as a thank you for running around after me while I tend to my inner 5 year olds needs :rotfl:

I've heard that the storytellers are awesome to see, but I do think that my Kadence would probably be bored with the ones she wasn't familiar with.
I think there's definately some she'd like more than others prob UK because he gives a child a bell and she may or may not be lucky enough to be picked. France and Canada prob because they look more like Santa. It's a good way to disguise education though while you're on holidays... you will learn!

I can be anti-social too, but usually it's at the grocery store and I can duck into a different aisle!:lmao: Poor Momma!
Oh I'm usually always anti-social unless it has somethine to do with disney, dancing or music :rotfl2: I just thought it was funny that they forced her into being socialable when she'd just said it :rotfl2:

How was she when Father Christmas plunked down next to her!:rotfl2:
Oh she laughed at that. Maybe it's because he brings presents.

I found some of the Kidcot stations hard to find too! We had to ask, and still was confused in Canada!
Yeah I wasn't quite sure I was going the right way. We had asked in the gift shop it's a little strange where it is.

That picture of the totem poles like like it was snowing! Which wouldn't be that crazy if you were really in Canada.
I never thought of that before. It's actually the rain reflecting from a light that was near them but it does look like snow.

48 days to Paris.. I can't keep up.

My legs hurt.. I'm gone dance mad.. One thing I learnt in my anxious state last year that when I go to dancing I'm happy and not stressed. When I don't I get wound up and likely to scream at someone easily.. Moral go to dancing. plus the whole get fit and possibly lose weight when you exercise thing helps to. I do or did Irish dancing anyway so that start last week. I'm happy but then I was looking at the dance timetable and they do beginners ballet I went there when I was little but I stopped after a year because it got to hard (what I was six or something) so went to ballet Tuesday. Had Irish dance tonight and now I'm owing lots :rotfl2: and I plan to add at least one Zumba class into this dance/fitness thing as well... I wonder how long Ballet and Zumba will last :confused3 :rotfl2:

Anyways all that is the reason why I haven't done another update yet but hopefully I'll get one done either tomorrow or Friday.

Happy Saturday!

How authentic - it looks like its snowing in Canada! :rotfl:

Love Father Christmas. Great outfit. :thumbsup2

Good for you for getting back into dancing! :thumbsup2

I sometimes do Zumba at home....I think it's fun.

I hadn't noticed it until someone said it here. It was actually the rain reflecting off nearby lights but it does look like snow :)

His outfit was my favourite.

Good for you for getting back into dancing! :thumbsup2
Thanks. I love my Irish dancing. It destresses me.

I sometimes do Zumba at home....I think it's fun.

I'm not going to Zumba til next week now. My friend has her own dance studio and teaches it, it's fun. I didn't get there this week because of work ex but I'll add it in next week.

Day 14, part 7:
So when I left you we were in Canada and trying to decide whether or not to try see the last Story-teller. I was disappointed that we could possibly miss one after seeing all the others so we decided to chance it and headed towards Norway. We got to Norway a little early for the Story-teller so we decided to go into the little bakery there to check out the yummies:

DSCF9668.jpg

I decided because Kristen of the frumps is always talking about how wonderful School Bread is in her trip reports that I would try some of this School Bread stuff:
DSCF9670.jpg

I thought it was ok. Momma gagged on it oopsies! She didn’t like the coconut. We went outside then to wait for the Story-teller and guess what it had stopped raining. It was very cold but at least it had stopped raining:
DSCF9671.jpg

Pretty soon Julenissen and Sigrid the Norwegian story tellers came out. This was probably the funniest story. Julenissen is like a mischievous elf and he makes people do funny things basically and he kept kind of freezing Sigrid and then might turn her around or something so when he snapped her out of the freeze she would be really confused. I don’t know if that makes sense. Have some pictures:

Julenissen was also picking on people in the crowd. He got one boy up on stage and was making him ring a bell. He came over to me and asked me to give him some goodies. I only had the camera so he scowled and told me next time an elf comes knocking to have porridge ready for him. Right so!
After I finally finished seeing all the story-tellers we decided to head out of the park. We spotted this little dude on the way out:

Goodbye pretty giant Christmas tree:

Of course on our way out we passed by Character Spot on the way out and with only a ten minute wait I had to run in to visit the Fab 5 one last time:

Why does Minnie never seem to do much else but pose? She’s not really as much fun as the likes of Goofy:

Momma in the meantime had been sitting outside trying to have a snooze on a bench except people kept going up to her to see if she was ok. Once I was finished we prepared to say our farewells to Epcot. I spotted these on the ground which I thought were cool looking. It’s kind of funny now though because I was listening to a podcast recently that described these as one of the hidden treasures of Epcot because not many people realise they are there:

After that we said our goodbyes to Epcot and I at least promised to visit it again someday:

Bye bye hedge Stitch:

Next up: A poly cold beach!

You're not helping my diet by posting those pictures from the bakery in Norway! :rotfl2:

I'm glad the rain stopped and you got to see one more story teller.

Too funny about your mom falling asleep and people checking to make sure she was not unconscious! :rotfl:

:lmao: Just think of all the yummies you can get next time you're in Disney as a treat for dieting for so long :)

I'm glad the rain stopped and you got to see one more story teller.
I was happy as well. We managed to see them all and it only took three visits to Epcot :rotfl:

She said everytime someone asked if she was ok she wanted to say well I was until you disturbed me but just politely went yes thanks :rotfl2: They meant well anyway.

I hope your legs are feeling better! I've started walking to get ready for Nov and my knees are not happy.

Yay! You finally got the see all the story tellers. Too bad you didn't have any goodies to share.

I have seen the lighted things on the ground. Kadence was dancing on them last year.

We still haven't visited the character spot. The line has always been too long or we've ga e places to be when the lines were short. Maybe this time.

Wishes on Ploy beach!?

They are it was only really the top of them. If I didn't bend down in a hurry I was fine lol! It's good pain though except my left ankle I think that's waiting to sprain and wish it would just crack out whatever is wrong with it because it's fine most of the time but try walk up the street in a hurry and it pains the life out of me! I sprained the right ankle 12 days before one of the dancing trips to Florida.. That was a fun trip! :lmao:

:rotfl2: yeah I got in trouble for that. I left everything with Momma who was off behind the crowd trying to stay warm.

I've seen them a few times they're cool looking. I didn't know they were regarded as hidden treasures by some!

I like going to character spot because you're gaurenteed to see all 5 in the original costume ish.. Mickey's not in his shorts but apart from that. Plus when you wait there's screens with old disney cartoons on them.

Wishes on Ploy beach!?
Not Wishes. Wishes wasn't on that night because there was another MVMCP

Day 14, part 8:

So we had just left Epcot and headed for the monorail and to the Polynesian Resort. We were a little early for what we wanted to see so we wandered around for a while admiring their decorations and gift shop:

They added Mickey Mouse... in 2010 when I was there it was only Minnie and the two boys:
DSCF9711.jpg

DSCF9712.jpg

DSCF9713.jpg

We went down to the lobby to hang out for a while and I took pics of the hidden Mickey’s in the carpets:
DSCF9715.jpg

DSCF9717.jpg

While we were in the lobby a CM I guess started telling me all about the DVC... like seriously don’t tempt me. I told Momma all about it after and she thought it was a good idea but didn’t buy into it lol! After a while we asked at reception how to get to their beach and they gave us a little map and off we went wandering.
DSCF9718.jpg

We found the beach and sat on some deck chairs to wait. Momma was cursing me because although the rain had stopped it was cold. She had bought a towel in Epcot so she wrapped that around her shoulders but she kept moaning and going why are we here, it’s cold, why are you making us sit on a beach in the freezing cold. I just kept telling her to hush and wait that this was something we had never seen before. Finally off in the distance we saw lights and Momma stopped moaning about me making her sit in the cold. Why were we waiting?… The Electric Water Pageant was on and we’d never seen it before:
DSCF9720.jpg

DSCF9722.jpg

If you look really closely maybe even squint a little you’ll see the castle off in the background of that pic!
We both enjoyed the Water Pageant and Momma thought it was worth the wait in the cold. It was short enough but worth seeing once at least. After that we headed back to the monorail for our next stop. I thought the side of the bins were cool enough to warrant a pic while I was waiting for the monorail as well:
DSCF9723.jpg

Next up: I hope you win the lotto soon

I'm glad you were able to see the water parade!

I agree with you about the DVC sales. I'm always more than willing to buy DVC. They're just going to have to bring it down to a price I can afford.:rotfl2::lmao:

I'm glad you got to see the last Storyteller! :thumbsup2

And those treats in Norway all look yummy!

The Electrical Water Pageant is worth seeing at least once.

It was nice to finally see it. We've never been able to take the time before because we don't usually stay on property.

It probably wasn't a good idea to try sell DVC to a student at the time either.. like eh no money sorry like!

I'm glad you got to see the last Storyteller! :thumbsup2
I was so happy as well. Mission accomplished like and only took three visits to Epcot.

And those treats in Norway all look yummy!
They did look yummy. The School bread was ok but nothing beat the Cupcake from starring roles.

The Electrical Water Pageant is worth seeing at least once.
If definately was. I just wish it had been a little bit warmer on the beach :rotfl:

That's another thing I really need to plan too see. You could see it nicely and sit in a comfortable chair is what just sold me!

I'm Glad enjoyed it!

Yeah Poly beach wasn't crowded at all when we were there and there's deck chairs and possibly some hammocks to sit in and watch it go by.
