This is really beginning to sound like a one note symphony.

Can I ask a question?

Why is so important that others agree with you on the value of D23?

If you see a value and you feel that it's something good for you and you seem pretty strong in your convictions....why isnt that enough?

G66 has suggested that you are owed an apology.

I'll do that.

I'm sorry that is the only topic that you feel the need to discuss and that it seems so important that others see the same value that you see.

I'm sorry that you dont see a value in being able to interact with a Disney historian as opposed to just reading or listening.

And finally....I'm sorry that this seems have become an "I'm right / you're wrong" scenario, when it's really just a difference of opinion.

Use some of this Kevin. It works every time!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Right on my man! Is there any truth to the rumor you will be able to purchase DIS gear with the webinar subscription... oh I forgot, you can already do that without the webinar:rolleyes:

I believe you are owed an apology.

The only possible apology I owe anyone is that I keep allowing trolls like you to post here. As for your comments about 'merchandise' - you're an idiot. When have we EVER hawked DIS merchandise for anything other than raising money for sick children? I guess you find that gratuitous - which speaks volumes about you as a person.

Speaking of raising money - it's too bad that wdwowner and his cadre of mental patients that seem so vested in D23 don't take some of that energy and look to do something meaningful with it. We have people on this forum who have raised a lot of money for GKTW - those are REAL Disney fans. You're just a shill for a crappy program who sounds more like a psychoitc broken record than someone with a genuine difference of opinion.

Sorry, but if you're going to post this garbage expect to be called out on it.

Pete

Are you sure G66 didn't mean that more tounge in cheek than serious? That was the way I took it, but maybe I took it wrong.

I take professional development webinars that cost a lot more. These are hundreds of dollars. I find this very very reasonable in comparison. It is a bargain considering some had travel costs to get on the boat to hear the same content.

Thanks guys for going out on a limb and asking Disney to make this available. With all the work going into the cruise it is remarkable you asked Disney to find an option for those not on the boat. I grew up saying I want to be a disney archivist and was soo jealous at the original announcement.

Well, I wouldn't compare this to a professional development webinar personally. Its a little different as its more a history lesson that's already been paid for by the people on the Cruise and is being rebroadcast by the web. I think that's why some people are balking at the price. Its not anyone's fault... I just think DI is going a bit overboard on the price is all, but that's my opinion. I, of course, would love to watch the show, I'm just not sure i can justify the expense which is the disappointing part of it.

As for the D23, personally I think thats way overpriced as well and I'll bet money that it doesn't last that long or they lower the price.

Question to all:

So you will pay $70 for a 90 minute webinar. One time watch and listen.

$75 to join D23. You get quarterly magazines (which you can keep), special gifts so far with each magazine (which you can keep), plus all of the other events and such included in the D23 membership.

Which one is the better deal?

I think it's crazy that we are allowed to use these message boards free of cost and receive all of this information to use FREE! So, maybe average the two out and it's not so bad for you.

I wasn't going to get in on this, but, Nicole, this was VERY well put!!

I would do both, but that is just me. I like milk and cookies, some like milk some like cookies. I could care less which they like nor do I feel the need to tell them they are wrong for not liking it. LET IT GO!! Find a hobby, maybe pulling out your fingernails or something productive.

Maybe I didn't hear correctly but I thought Pete said that the Webinar was not just going to be a taped showing of what we are attending on the cruise. That it would be a live experience for those who choose to sign up and will have the same content as what is being presented on the cruise.

First off, I did not say that you, Pete, owe wdwowner an apology. My point is that I believe wdwowner was run off and ridiculed by many posters for suggesting the cost of D23 was reasonable. Instead of letting his posts go, he was subjected to the same dead horse type responses that you see in this thread. I think wdwowner is a Disney enthusiast who was and is being unfairly targeted for his opinion. I don't know and have never met wdwowner. I'm not trolling, just supporting his original opinion. For the record, I'm not a D23 member, DVC owner, Disney Blogger, podcaster or have any other skin in the Disney game. Just a just a Disney enthusiast. Never thought of myself as part of wdwowners "cadre of mental patients". I guess I'm not free to support his opinion.

Second, who brought up the GKTW fundraiser and those that have participated? Didn't the DIS offer hat's and t-shirts prior to the GKTW fundraiser? If everything you have ever offered has gone to charity, then I owe you an apology. The point was certainly not a swipe at the GKTW or any other charitable efforts, you, or DIS gear, which you have every right to offer regardless of whether the proceeds go to charity or not. It was intended as a retort to the outrage and hoopla over an expensive pen in the D23 offering. Sorry if you interpreted it the wrong way.

I think this thread has gone beyond healthy and productive debate. It maybe time to close it. The DIS Unplugged board is one of the most welcoming and friendly boards on the DIS forums. If you can't get along with people on this board heaven help you.

Just a general comment and my 2 cents.

Pete, calm down, take a chill pill.

If you remember, I sent in a $50 donation to GKTW along with my companies 3-for-1 matching, a total of $200, and did not ask for a shirt in reply. I then called and left a voice mail about my review of on-line check in during my WDW visit in March, you played it on the show, John mentions my donation and you said that I was a "good guy". Disney is my hobby and live to visit WDW as often as possible. I have many DIS shirts from call in questions and e-mails, some of which I have passed along to needy people.

Just so you know, I am a living kidney donor to my wife, 11.5 years ago. We are very active in the transplant community and the US Transplant Games. (my wife won a gold medal at the 2004 Transplant Games) We have raised hundreds of thousand of dollars to send transplant recipients, donors and their families to the US Transplant Games. I have sent you e-mails suggesting a segment on traveling to WDW while on dialysis, which we did only 2 months after my wife went into full renal failure, I have never heard back from you on this. I know many people are out there who travel to WDW and DL and DCL while on dialysis, I'm sure this would benefit many people and their families. I am available any time, just let me know and I will call in or skype.:confused3

We have also raised thousands of dollars for ALS in memory of my wife's mom who passed away from ALS. I think those are very good meaningful causes which wew are able to help and participate in.

So in conclusion, I believe my family is a Disney family that pays back to the community in may ways, much as I have tried to pay back to the podcast with questions and suggestions. Mental, no, someone who cares enough to give organs to other people so they can live a better life, yes.

That may be - and I wish you and your wife nothing but good fortune in your efforts. Your time spent on this board, however, in the last few months has been nothing more than trolling for D23. You've been allowed to openly and consistently share your opinion, but have not been the least bit tolerant in allowing others to do the same. I believe in one post you actually told someone if they didn't have something nice to say about D23 then they shouldn't say anything at all. Sorry, but if you're not willing to allow others than same latitude in opinion that you want for yourself, then you're little more than a hypocrite - regardless of what organs you've donated to your wife. And if you choose to continue to attack others for not sharing your view on D23, than you should expect that we'll allow others the same freedom.

If you don't like the show, the boards or how either are run or maintained, I suggest you make use of that magical URL bar at the top of your browser to find a site that chooses to look at Disney thru the rose colored glasses you seem to covet so dearly. God knows there's plenty of them out there.

Pete
