My 7 year old likes adult food and usually eats it all. Has anyone ever heard that if your child orders from adult menu even though they have kids credits

It doesn't happen every night, but if there is Penne Vodka or Salmon on the menu she wants that instead of kid stuff

If your 7 year-old wants to order from the adult menu.... You have a few options:
-Pay out-of-pocket for the adult meal.
-Upgrade their age to 10 on the reservation, and get them the adult dining plan. (Whether for free dining, or paying for it).

-Upgrade their age to 10 on the reservation, and get them the adult dining plan. (Whether for free dining, or paying for it).

This would also require getting her an adult park ticket (unless you're on a DVC points stay or an annual passholder ticketless package).

If there is a children's menu, your child must order from that menu when using a meal plan. You could pay for an adult meal OOP, though. Also, you might look into upgrading your child to an adult meal plan. If you are going during a free dining period, then all you would need to do to upgrade them is pay to upgrade their park ticket to an adult.

Had the same problem with 8 year old. She hated the child's menu. We didn't upgrade and ended up paying OOP a few times. The portions are very large for adults so often we would share my adult meal. But, if I had it to do over I'd upgrade.

While your child is limited to a 'child's menu' at a sit down restaurant, if you go to a buffet your child can eat anything at the buffet--they're not limited to the child's area...heck, half the time I see adults taking stuff from the kids area of buffets! There's often salmon at the dinner buffets--1900 Park Fare, Hollywood and Vine, etc.

Sorry - but the rule is that children's credits must be used to order from the children's menu.

It's pretty much been covered what you can do about that:

Book buffets or family style restaurants
List your child as 10 on the reservation, buy them an adult park ticket if you're on a package, and they'll get an adult dining plan
Make sure you go to the CS that don't have children's menus - there are several (although not a huge number of them).
Don't do the dining plan - then everyone can order what they want.
