50's prime time
I went here about 15 years ago and I remember having a good time. This trip I was fortunate to get an ADR from a fellow DSer so I added it to our day. I wasn't expecting great food, but I was willing to sacrifice for the sake of a funny evening. We were seated right away. Our waitress, Auntie Clare, was a hoot. I know their job must get monotonous since everything she did/said I had read about from other customers...but it was still fun. My dad had a birthday pin so she had the whole restaurant sing to him. She spoon fed my husband his food like a baby. We really did laugh more in that hour than we had the entire trip.
Ok...so we have exstablished that its good fun...now lets discuss food. Blech! Gross. I got the meatloaf and it wasn't really edible. I had a few bites. The chocolate peanutbutter shake was filling though so I was OK. My dad had the steak and he said it was just OK. DH had the pot roast and he said it wasn't good. So the food kinda stunk and I definately wouldn't pay those prices for that food! The desserts were OK. Im glad we went but won't go again. I really wish DHS had better choices of dining.
Kringla Bakeri Norway Epcot
I had read about the famous school bread for years. I had meant to try it on our last trip and then forgot. This trip I made it a point to go there. I was really not expecting what it was. I had expected a sweet doughnut but to me this was more like a savory roll with a sweet filling. I didn't like it at all. It tasted like the roll had pepper in it. I did like the cream filling though. Dh wasn't crazy about it either. oh well, I certainly don't need any more sweets on my must have list lol.![]()
Chef de France Epcot
I had read some pretty good reviews about this place so it was on my list of must do places to eat. Big mistake! This was the worst place we ate at all week. I would have been really upset had we paid out of pocket. We were seated 10 minutes before our ADR time. The tables were so crowded together it was uncomfortable. The place was so noisey we couldn't even hear one another. Our table was wobbly which is fine at say, McDonalds but not at a nice restaurant. DH and I started with the onion soup-it was great. Seriously the best onion soup we have ever had. My dad had the lobster bisque and he said it was very good. DS had the cheese tart (I forget the official name) that was pretty tasteless. DH and I ordered the famous mac and cheese. It was gross! I am not a picky eater but this was really bad. The pasta was chewy and the cheese sauce was tasteless. We were both entirely dissapointed. My dad ordered the short ribs and he said they were ok..basically tasted like pot roast. For $37 you would expect great food not pot roast and bad mac n cheese. DH and I ate maybe 1/3 of our meals. The waiter never asked if there was anything wrong. Had I been paying out of pocket I would have sent it back and asked for it off the bill but since it was free dining we just let it go. Dessert was good. DH and I had the ice cream on pastry which was decent, my dad had the crem brulee that was amazing.
We had to wait for about 15 minutes after our meal for Remy to get to our table. This was the main reason we came here so I refused to leave without DS getting to see him. He and his handler were great. DS was excited to talk to him. Overall I thought the restaurant was bad. I would never pay out of pocket, and I would never recommend to a friend. Maybe we had an off night. I didn't like the entree or the atmosphere at all. I expected better.
Le Cellier
Oh...the sought after one! I spent months stalking the boards to get this ADR. It was later than I wanted, but no matter. We arrived on time and waited about 20 minutes. I noticed right away our waiter wasn't the best. He seemed a bit cocky and didn't have much personality. DS's meal came with an appitizer so I kindly ordered the cheese soup for me...er, him.
Dh and I shared it even though it was just a teeny portion. Very good! DS ate only bread sticks the entire meal...I don't think he even touched his dinner. I ordered the filet and subbed in mashed potatos. O.M.G. they were both to die for!! DH got the same, but he kept with the risotto. I tried it...it was also awesome! Im not sure which I liked better, risotto or potatoes. Next time I think I would get a side of soup, side of mashed, and side of risotto and skip the meat lol. My dad got the prix fixed prime rib. He said it was excellent. For dessert DH and I got the maple creme brulee. It was bit too mapley but we still ate itThe food here is awesome, the service not so much. Our waiter dissapeared for long amounts of time. We had to wait for a dessert for like 20 minutes. Not easy with a little one. Then we had to wait for our bill forever also. This was the first restaurant that we did not leave 20% tip due to service being subpar.
