Hi

So we've decided to definitely cruise over Christmas in 2016, now to choose our itinerary.

We absolutely want to do 7 nights so are looking for some advice on whether to choose the 7 night eastern Caribbean on the Magic or a 3 and 4 day B2B on the Dream around the Bahamas?
Although the ports will be nice we really just want the best ship experience

Thank you in advance for any advice on this Christmas trip

Personally, I'd go with the 7 night Magic.
1) Haven't been on the re-imagined Magic yet.
2) 7 nights = 7 different menus/shows vs. 3/4 nights B2B = 3 repeated shows/menus.
3) Prefer the smaller ships over the larger.
4) Eastern ports are better than Nassau (twice)
5) Turnaround day on the B2B is an early day, for no particular reason other than to wait around.

I feel that you can't go wrong with any Disney Cruise decision. We will be doing a Christmas trip in 2015 and are looking forward to the decorations.

In case you are concerned about the Magic (it sounds like this is a possibility), she is a lovely ship. I booked our first cruise on her and liked her so much that I wanted to book her for my next, but the timing doesn't work. Now I am wondering if I will like the Fantasy as much! The issues that people have posted about her baffle me, as I was just on her in June and didn't have any such trouble. She will go into dry dock again this fall so these issues will be worked out most likely. I would never have guessed that the Magic was as old as she is had I not known it beforehand.

You will lose a day disembarking/re-embarking if you do the Dream twice, whereas that time will not be lost on a seven night cruise.

We are cruising on the Magic at that time in 2016 - just before Christmas on the Eastern Caribbean. We chose this cruise over a B2B for all of the above stated reasons PLUS the ports are really important to us because we have never been to any of those islands. So we are excited. ALSO, we are hoping it will be warmer a little farther south. Can't wait!!!

Easy. Go with the Magic. You willl basically "lose" a day on your turnaround day...

Thank you all so much for these comments, I think it is unanimous it has to be the Magic.

I was just a bit concerned as we loved the Fantasy, especially the aqua duck for my DD who will be too scared of the Aqua dunk but I think all the other points far outweigh the few times she may go on it.

Thank you again

Sooooo excited to book

We did a B2B on the Magic right after her upgrades instead of doing a 7-night repeat of a previous cruise on the Fantasy. The Magic is an awesome ship! The Mickey slide (way better than the Fantasy version) is an excellent option for anyone too scared of the Aquadunk. The B2B had some wonderful aspects (Castaway x2? Yes, please!) but the turnaround day was less than stellar (kids clubs are not open for checkin so our kids were sick of us by the end of the day!). I think you will enjoy the relaxation of a 7-night, especially at Holiday time!
