Which are the resorts you are pretty much not getting into in the 7 month window and which ones 7 months is enough time to get good reservation? I am a teacher so fall breaks, summer times (which if we go during this time it will be to just enjoy the resort not fighting the disney crowds), mardi gras, and times like that. I am still trying to debate on DVC and home resort.

I am also a teacher and have to travel during breaks or long weekends. We bought at SSR, one main reason was for the longer contract and the idea when the kids get bigger and want to try US and IOA or when it's just the two of us, it's more of an adult resort. So far at 7 months I was able to book BWV for F&W long weekend...that took calling everyday for a while to hit it but I did. I just booked a studio at BCV for a week in June, and we are going to SSR in a 2bedroom next week. I probably could've gotten another resort I just didn't have enough points to cover another resort and no one would do a split stay.

If you call as soon as the 7 month window opens (right at 9 am Eastern), you should be able to get into just about any WDW DVC resort at 7 months during the summer months. That is usually true for the fall, too, but the EPCOT resorts are much more difficult to book during the Food & Wine Festival.

The above assumes you are willing to take any view or category. The value, concierge, standard and "premium" views are likely to be gone by 7 months. "Premium" views include MK view at BLT and Boardwalk View at BWV. THV at SSR and the GV at OKW & BLT & BWV are also popular and often book before the 7 month window opens. Sometimes you do get lucky, though.

Make sure that your home resort is one at which that you wouldn't mind staying if nothing else is available.

I call at 7 months for our trips and always have a wide selection of almost every resort. Even for Christmas trips
