7 month Window for BCV, BWV, and VWL

I am in the process of purchasing a resale at OKW. Our intention for our annual trip is to do 5 nights (Sun-Thur) at OKW, Fri and Sat offsite, and then 5 nights (Sun-Thurs) at either BCV, BWV or VWL. We will always be travelling in the summer (late June thru end of August but not the 4th of July week). I am curious what my chances are of being able to book at these resorts for the summer months 7 months out. Does anyone have any experiences to share. We will typically be booking a 1BR. Thanks!

You shouldn't have too much problem. I recently booked a 4 day weekend trip at BWV with only a month notice and got a boardwalk view studio so its not unthinkable at this time.

FWIW, IMHO, the summer months are actually among the easier times to book at the 7 month window. So unless you have your heart set on a standard or a guaranteed Boardwalk view at the BWV, you should not have a problem getting a 1 bedroom at 7 months for at least one of your non-home resort choices (VWL, BCV or BWV). If you are willing/able to use the waitlist, even the standard and boardwalk views are possible.

I agree with Carol's points...summer does seem to be pretty good if you book right at the 7 month mark. If you don't want BWV Standard or BWV Boardwalk View reservations, you'll probably be okay for a while.

My only question is...will you be disappointed if you "have" to spend your entire stay at OKW instead of one of the other resorts? If so, I think you are doing yourself a disservice by buying at OKW.

And remember, your travel plans might change in the next 38 years. If you want to spend time at those other resorts during the heavier peak DVC times, they will be harder to get.

I'm a firm believer in buying where you want to stay the most. My assumption is that you wouldn't ask this question if it weren't somewhat important to you to be able to book elsewhere on a regular basis.

My waitlist came through, about a month ago, for a standard view 1 BR at BWV for early November, so ya never know!

We bought into OKW in 1992. We have only had one time where we could not get the Boardwalk - that was in October 2002 - Food and Wine Festival time.

Just came back and had a great time at the Boardwalk and HH.
