For the experts who have used the 7 month window, what are the chances of reserving studios at BCV or the BWV? I need 4 studios in July/August for next year (family reunion)... do you reserve at your home resort at 11 months assuming the worst case? Or do you wait and hope for the best at 7 months? I've asked in the rent trade board for swapping/trading my VWL points for BCV/BWV and no takers.

I was able to book a BWV stuido at the 7 month window for a very busy week last year.

I would play it safe and book at the 11 month window at my home resort and then make a switch at 7 months. I was able to get exactly what I wanted at BCV in mid-June about a week past the 7 month mark. If you can't get where you want, at least you'll have someplace to sleep!!

I also would book at WVL if that's your home and then trade over at 7 months. Are you trying to get the standard studios at BWV? How many points are in the total ressie (4 studios) that you are interested in?

By the way, were you ever in Cape May in the Coast Guard? We've had guests for Christmas or Thanksgiving dinner who were trainees. The Red Cross calls it Operation Fireside, and it's a wonderful program.

studios might be hard to come by. I have three weeks left to get on the wait list at boardwalk for two studios and was told it will be tought to wait list them because of two. there are currently none available for when I want so ssr might be it for NOvember stay.

I would play safe and book at home resort and then switch at 7 month window. However, if you are talking about late July early August (and not the week July 4 is in), I think you will find availability at both at the 7 month window (except possibly for BWV "standard" view. That time of year is not a very high demand time for DVC.

Just a quick note of thanks to all who responded.

for bobbiwoz... view is not an issue. We will have 375 BCV points for our 2 bdrm, and 450 VWL points which will be used to obtain 4 studios... BCV, BWV or VWL... all would be a great place for the family. This will be a first for the BCV, so we opted for the 2 bdrm.

To answer your Coast Guard question, yes, I went through boot camp at Cape May and have visited quite often... still on active duty in the DC area. I work with the Coast Guard personnel in Wildwood.

I had no problem with the 7 mo. window. In the past I booked 7 mo. out in Aug. for BWV & I booked 7 mo out for July 05 at BCV. I did however, have a problem booking 7 mo out for Oct. 2004 at BCV. We stayed at SSR instead. I think it depends on the time of year. The summer shouldn't be too bad. Good luck.
