Please don't laugh at me, these days chasing after 3 boys under 4 boggles my mind & when I think about booking Disney at the 7 month out mark, my head swarms with numbers!!!

Is there a calculator out there to make things easier? I really feel silly asking but perhaps my counting skills are affected by the lack of sleep. ;)

you have a built in calculator for just this type of thing, your fingers!

Take your check out date month, and count months backward, using one finger for each month. When you have seven fingers up stop counting. Use the same day of That month (same day as your checkout date) and that is the beginning of your 7 month window! :cool1:

For example: Let's say i'm checking out Nov 10th. So I count off backward seven fingers-worth of months: Oct, Sept, Aug, July, June, May, April. bingo, seven fingers....now I go to the same day, the 10th,....ta da, April 10th.

P.S. Using the numerical designation for the month and then subtracting also works, but is not as fun. i.e. 11 minus 7 = 4 (april)

Thank you! :worship:

I think I've got it. Am I right then when I say I need to call in July for January?

It's June. you forgot one finger. :thumbsup2

Also, in your member account online, click on "my vacation points". At the top it will list where you are currently at on all of your deadlines.

Here's a real crude table - there's a nice one in your planner:

Check out: Call

Jan Jun
Feb Jul
Mar Aug
Apr Sep
May Oct
Jun Nov
Jul Dec
Aug Jan
Sep Feb
Oct Mar
Nov Apr
Dec May

If you want to go with total no thinking method I use the dining calculator ...on disboards

LOL! I like going the otherway: Checkout Date + 5 Fingers (Months)

If checkout is in January, I count forward 5 months: Finger 1 is Feb, Finger 2 is March, Finger 3 is April, Finger 4 is May and Finger 5 is June. I call in June.

Like you... I prefer going forward in life. I guess neither of us would be a very good squid. However... I guess I must have some squid genetics... because I do go back 1 for the 11 month window :)

But... what I primarily use is CaskBill's DVC Planner (great tool)... and then use his vacation report which has both 7 and 11 month options. It works great when calling day-by-day too.

I don't know if it has been updated... but the version on my computer does not seem to account for MS being open on Sunday... so you need to do a little manual adjustment (unless this has been updated).
