I am looking for info about 7 Mile Beach. We are a snorkeling family and are thinking of doing this on our own in GC. How far from where we tender in is it? Cost of cab rides? I read on other threads that it is near the Holiday Inn. We are traveling with our 3 yr old, so issues of bathrooms and snacks and transportation are of importance to us.

I have seen a couple of web sites about 7 mile, but I want a Dis-ers opinion! All opinions are welcome! Thanks bunches!

7 mile beach is beautiful! We didn't snorkel, but went swimming. The beach was very uncrowded and we were right across from the Holiday Inn. Don't really know about cost because we took a van tour to Hell and the Turtle farm and then got dropped off at the Holiday Inn. But going back to town, we took a "bus" which was really a van that dropped us off a few blocks from the ship. I believe the cost was $2.50/person.

We did 7 Mile Beach this past July on our own and loved it!! The Cab ride was $4.00 pp each way. It is about a 10 minute taxi ride. We asked the driver to let us off at the Holiday Inn (this is actually the same location the DCL beach excursion goes to). All you need to do is walk down a short path from the road and you are on the beach. There is no charge to get on the beach and there are lounge chairs available for no charge also. The beach was extremely clean and the water is beautiful. There was beach bar and food area on the beach. Beware that alcoholic drinks ran about $10 each. We did not get any food so I cannot comment on the prices, but we easily brought our softsided cooler with us filled with drinks and snacks from the ship and had no problem. There are also restrooms right on the beach. We spent about 4 hours total and we did snorkel. The snorkeling was good, not great, but we did see plenty of fish mostly on the smaller side, but for us it was enough. We also brought a couple of blow up tubes with us and the kids loved using them in the water. We asked our cab driver to come back for us at a specific time and he was there waiting for us. Even if he hadn't returned, there were plenty of taxis lined up waiting to head back to the ship. This was one of the best days we had on the cruise and we would definitely do this beach again on our own.
