What is the allure of these overpriced jeans? My niece has asked for a pair for Christmas and I am having a hard time with the prices. Jeesh, how can they be so much better than a pair of levis?

you can tell the difference, i think in how good jeans fit. But young girls don't realize that not all jeans look good on all body types. Seven might not be the brand for her, or maybe it is. She should try a pair on first. Otherwise it's all about the label. I've seen girls look great in 7, also Apple Bottoms.

I have never even heard of them. How much are they? I don't even pay attention to brands anymore. I basically finally something cute, and try it on and hope it fits! Jeans are a pain to find the right fit.

I was wondering what the rage was so I tried them on. They were OK. I wasn't going for name just look.I didn't buy them. I ended up finding a pair of NY & Co. Platinum. They were $60 and they looked awesome. SO I'd only spend the money if they made me look good.

I think in young girls name is everything. Us "mature" ladies know there's more to it.

The pair she wants and believe me, she is quite specific are $194.00 :crazy2:
I told her that it would pretty much be it. Just seems like a lot of money?

They run about $120 to $200

I think you just pay for the name.

that is out of my price range. I have 17 nieces and nephews and 3 kids. I'd only spring for something like that if it was one spoiled niece or my kid knew they wouldn't get much besides the one pair of pants.

They make men's jeans as well. My wife kept talking about them so I tried decided to try them on just to humor her. Well, now I have 3 pairs. They are really nice, high quality jeans, and very comfortable.

However, if i had the money and very few nieces and nephews and no children of my own I'd buy them for her. For a highschool girl something like this can mean a good deal. To have the cool, latest item would make her feel great, plus spoiled by her favorite aunt. If you have several siblings you could chip in for them.
I spent all of my childhood wearing k-mart jeans and sneakers. I can relate to wanting something just because of what it is. And you are getting quality.
If it is out of your price range, set a price and take her shopping to try on various brands that are a bit less.

Long story short, she lived with us the past 3 years before she started college, so she is more a daughter or she wouldn't have asked. But I did tell her, that pretty much does it.

Same thing with her, her mom thought it more important to spend the money elsewhere. ( still not sure where  ) SO I am feeling the need to spoil her still.

If she was specific, she probably knows that they fit her body well (probably tried them on).

I am interested to try some on because I hear good things about them but I've yet to hit a store that has them. Even if they made me look like Eva Longoria, I still wouldn't fork out $200 for them because I'm too cheap. But I'd just like to know whether or not they are worth the hype!

In the meantime, I feel pretty good in my slim bootcuts from Ann Taylor Loft. And they were on clearance for $30.

Personally for me 7 (for all mankind) brand just doesn't seem worth it. Most of the ones I see here are around $200-300. Some big stars are known for wearing them. I need a better fit than that, and I have spent $100 on jeans (Lucky). For me it is about fit, but I can't spend that much on a pair like that.

I do have a harder build to fit, and many of the brands of jeans (ranging from $30-$150) do not fit me, so I do okay spending some on jeans that fit like a glove.

Someone mentioned Apple Bottom jeans though. Those only run about $60 and they are made for a woman with an ample bottom ;) I wouldn't compare those to 7 (which seem to be fit for a more slim figure).

I seriously think some brands are about name only... when you pay $200 for a pair of jeans I cannot believe the fit is any better than a brand you pay $75 or $100 on.

I would definately spend that much on jeans ONLY IF THEY MADE ME LOOK GREAT! Im a huge Levis fan, and would love a nice hi-end pair of great jeans.

Other hi-end jeans I would buy are Chip&Pepper, Diesel, and Seven jeans.
If I can ever get to a store that I can actually try them on and if I feel in love with them, I would buy them. I have looked online and just cant get my nerve up to buy them without trying them on first.

If you get your neice a pair...to her i say GO GIRL!!! :thumbsup2
And what a great aunt you are!

My friend raves about her 7 for All Mankind jeans, and her Lucky jeans. I've tried both on and wasn't that impressed. Maybe I didn't have the right style for my body. I would spend up to $130 on jeans if they were fabulous, but never more than that. Same with shoes ... to spend that much they'd have to knock my socks off :lmao:

I remember when I was in high school the cool thing was Guess jeans. Oh how much I longed for that cool triangle on my back pocket. Back then they only had two styles, button fly and zip fly. And they were only lik $50 - $70 if I remember correctly. Anyway, I just wanted that triangle and didn't really care how well they fit.

I tend to think it's too much to spend on jeans for a kid. Where do they go from there? I know I didn't make enough money at my first three jobs to afford such expensive things. I think a lot of kids are going to be shocked at their standard of living when they start out on their own. On the other hand, it is a Christmas present ... I don't know. I guess I see both sides. At least she's found jeans that fit. I'm still searching!

Try Bluefly.com, they have all high end designer clothes for a percentage off. They're a great site to order from...

I don't like my 7 jeans. The butt stretches out and makes your rear end up looking droopy. Definitely not worth the money I spent. I like my Lucky okay but my favorite jeans by far are my Banana Republic jeans. I love, love, love them. I have three pairs, similar, but not identical and when I go to Chicago this weekend, I'm going to look for another pair b/c they carry petites up there. They are not cheap, but I pretty much live in jeans in the winter so I can justify it that way. I also recently found a pair at American Eagle that I like pretty well and they were only $40! Can't beat that!
