Some context first. My daughter (14) and I are both scared of rollercoasters, and mostly the drops. We went on the Mummy ride at Universal and it freaked us out, was too intense. We didn’t really have a frame of reference for 7DMT, but have read others commenting on it relative to Barnstormer, but that didn’t mean too much as we haven’t been on that, so after going in 7DMT, I wanted to give a personal perspective for those who are also fearful of drops. We also went on the Jurassic river cruise at Universal with a big 85ft drop at the end, which again was horrific, never again. We went on Gringots at Universal, and though the initial drop was scary, the rest of the ride was fun.
Let me start by saying that my daughter and I both loved 7DMT, and didn’t find it too intense at all, just very fun, and we HATE drops. The reason the drops didn’t feel intense is because the coaster actually slows down during the drops, and only speeds up once you’re out of it and curving around the corner. The slowing down on the drops made all the difference, because it removed that falling feeling in your stomach you get with drops that are fast. We ended up going a few times, because we had so much fun, and it didn’t feel scary at all. It’s the perfect rollercoaster if you’re scared of drops, but also want the feeling of zooming around with some speed (32mph not too fast, but fast enough).
Hope this is helpful to some people.
