Seriously... I booked it because of all the hype it gets BUT I don't like steak :confused3 :rotfl: I figured I'd do the veggie dish or the free-range chicken... but the menu is just not calling to me. My DH is more of a chicken and ribs kind of guy himself and won't do anything that has mushrooms on/in it and we both dislike seafood (yes, I know, picky as anything! :rotfl: ) So.... now I'm thinking of seeing if I can get something else with only 1 week to go (we were eating @ Le Cellier on the evening of our arrival to WDW). Since we'll be doing Epcot that day, my next runners up would be:

*Cape May (we've eaten here numerous times as it's at the BC and we stay at the YC and BC each time we go)
*Spoodles (never tried it but the menu looks pretty good)
*Garden Grill (figured the girls would like to see the characters the first night BUT we have 4 other character meals the week we're there and I don't want overkill)
*Marrakesh... we've never tried it but DH really loved the sampling of things in Morrocco last year @ the F & W festival and was very disappointed we couldn't go during that timeframe this year.

During our trip we're also doing Kona (dinner), CRT breakfast, CP lunch, Boma, Chef Mickey's (dinner), Cape May (breakfast).

Any thoughts????? I'll be lucky if I can even switch it around I think at this point! :rolleyes1

Hi. I'm jealous that you get to eat at LeCellier soon. Let me just say that I don't really like steak, either. I do, however, love the mushroom filet at LeCellier. If your DH won't eat anything with mushrooms, I'd suggest the maple filet, but ask for the sauce on the side. I think their steaks are the best I've ever had. If you really don't think you'll enjoy it, though, you might see about changing it. I've never tried Spoodles, but it would be easy to get to by going out the International Gateway.

I would go to Beirgarten or Cape May....

Beirgarten is awesome, they have fantastic food and great entertainment

I do think Le Cellier doesn't have the variety that the other restaurants do. It is more of a limited menu. I thought their food was fine and you do get the bang for your bucks there. I like steak and it's good there. Most Disney restaurants will accomodate requests like no mushrooms, please even if the dish has it.

It may be hard to change ressies to your other choices, now without a variance in time schedule. If that's not a biggy to you then I would call and check times available at the other choices and see if they fit what you need to do for your day there with time constraints before dropping your Le Cellier ressie.

I absolutely love Spoodles and it's more relaxed and children friendly in my opinion then Le Cellier. There tends to be a wait there even with ressies that's a little longer than most other places. Marrakesh has a show with dinner if you hit the right time; there's a schedule. Again, this is one of our favorite places; because, my husband is a strict vegetarian. Garden Grill is very good, too. It's more American style cooking. I'm sure the kids would like this best of all, but it's your vacation, too.

I think Spoodles and especially Marrakesh are better choices if you want to see Illuminations after your meal. It's more of a convenient location to the show. At that hour it make be tough trekking from the Garden Grill to catch the show.

Good luck and Le Cellier is worth trying once, if you have trouble changing ressies at this point. By no means should you drop these ressies; until, you have another one locked in.

I don't eat steak much either, but love Le Cellier. The Salmon is awesome. Love spoodles too, so imagine you'll find something that will satisfy you all. Have a great trip!

We went for the first time in Feb. to Le cellier. I loved the Prince Edward Mussels but the rest of the meal I could of done without. If you don't think you are going to like I would go somewhere else.

Have you looked at trying Raglan Road? It is the place I am most excited about going in December. Check out the menu and see what you think. I hear the desserts are awesome.

I sort of liked Marrakesh--the service was rather slow, but the food was decent and a nice change. The theming is exotic, and if you time it right, you might see the belly dancer. Plus, they're not that popular, so you'd probably have a good chance of getting an ADR for there, or even walking in, if you were desperate.

The thing I like about Spoodles, is that they stay open late enough so that you can eat a late lunch, see Illuminations, and then catch a boat from the International Gateway that drops you off right in front for a late dinner. Having said that, the menu has been constricting so rapidly I'm not sure I could wholeheartedly recommend it anymore, unless you check the menu in advance and make sure they have something you like.

I like Le Cellier, but it is a steakhouse, and frankly I would probably never have tried it without the DDP, because I usually like more esoteric fare. I wouldn't feel obliged to try it if you know it's not the sort of thing you go for.

My thoughts when I read this was...are you crazy, I love Le Cellier - but if you are not a steak fan...I do like the herb crusted prime rib but I am a total beef eater. The maple filet - the sauce is overpowering. I never look at anything else on the menu - so I ca understand your concern, but the chees soup...MMMMM

Honestly if you guys aren't steak eaters then I would go to Morocco and eat. The food is very good and you even get entertainment. There are alot of people who would kill to get your Le Cellier reservation and Le Cellier is really about steak no matter what else is on the menu.

We will be going to Le Cellier for the 1st time in Dec. I have heard that even in the summer the restaurant in Morocco is the easiest to get into last minute. I'm rethinking some of my choices too. I feel like some of the menus are different from a couple months ago when I made my choices!:confused3

I'm not a big steak eater, but the rest of my family love it and we have been to LC several times. If I didn't have pressure from the rest of my party, I probably would not return to LC. :earsboy:

Our grandkids had the free range chicken with the cheddar cheese soup and they loved it all........the chicken had a nice flavor and the gkds who were 13 and 15 at the time loved it....

DW gets the salmon, see loves it.

If your dh likes ribs how about Big River Grille at the BW. 1 of the 2 best places on property for ribs, the other being Flame Tree at AK. Check out the menu.

Le Cellier is awesome, but if you're not a big steak lover I'd head over to the
buffet in Norway. It's delicious and the waiters are all blonde and adorable.:thumbsup2

Just last week I had a reservation at LeCellier w/DS15. He decided not to join me. I changed the AR to Rose and Crown. Im a light eater and wanted their Ploughmans lunch instead.

I did however later in the week go to LeCellier for an order of their breadsticks to go. I had to order their cheese soup also! lol (thats good too and was actually glad i had to order something besides the breadsticks)

We went last year. I was not impressed. This was something we really looked forward to, but the meal was mediocre at best.

My family went there during Christmas week last year and I had doubts. Not because we don't like steak but because my daughter and I are really picky eaters. I worried I wouldn't like anything!

I was able to order the steak without mushrooms and request different potatos. My daughter who is really really picky loved the mashed potatoes. We were all so impressed with this meal that we still talk about it. And my fiancee and I are eating there again on our honeymoon (and DD is so jealous!)

I always figure if I don't try something I will never know. :thumbsup2

I was just wondering about that Prime Rib....is it tiny like the filets?

Cee,
Years ago before the web was so popular (Yes, before The Dis), in the late 80's and 90's the Florida Forum on Compuserve is where all the Disney Nuts got their Mickey fix and inside info. On the forum Akershus was affectionately known as "House O' Babes", brings back memories.
