So I was in Disneyworld March 10th though the 16th and there was plenty of food and drink to be had! And as it was my 21st birthday celebration...well, that was exciting because I got to order all those yummy looking drinks I'd always admired
Unfortunately, I am new at this whole dining report/taking pictures of your food thing and there were a few meals I completely forgot to get photos of. BUT, I will share what I have and my opinions on where/what we ate and drank. Now on with the show!
Day 1
We didn't do anything fancy for breakfast this day...actually any day. We're not huge breakfast eaters. We did have one character breakfast planned at DAK (Donald's Breakfastasaus) but ended up not making it. Anyway, most of the days we just had something quick and light at the hotel (Shades of Green). Day 1 was no exception and we stopped at the Express Cafe for coffee, pastries, and breakfast crossaints.
We were at Magic Kingdom this day and for lunch we decided on Cosmic Ray's over in Tomorrowland. This is where that whole "newbie food picture taker" thing comes in. I didn't remember until halfway through my cheeseburger to snap a picture of it. But here it is anyway, half eaten. My sincerest apologies!
It was pretty good for, you know, a counter service cheeseburger. Fresh and warm...and the fries were pretty good too. Not that I could really taste them as I always douse my fries in that honey mustard sauce they so thoughtfully provide at the toppings bar
So later that evening we headed over the the Poly for our dinner reservation at Ohana's. Here are the courses:
Salad and fried wontons with dipping sauces to start with:
It had some kind of sweet lime dressing and it was VERY good. I had about 3 servings of it. I like me some salad!
The wontons were pretty good...I liked the peanut sauce the best. The other two were some kind of red pepper one and a garlic tasting one. Like the kind you dip bread in at the Italian places. Know what I'm talking about? Well that's what it tasted like to me.
Here are the sticky wings and scalloped potatoes:
The potatoes were delish but the sticky wings were a bit too, uh, sticky...for my liking. I really despise getting messy at dinner. I know it's weird! But I will admit they had a nice flavor to them.
In this shot you can see the shrimp and veggies:
Shrimp was good and had a kick to it. Veggies were okay...could have had more flavor though.
Here you can see the beef and the pork. The beef was VERY good, IMO. Cooked very nicely. The pork was alright. Didn't get pictures of the turkey or sausage because I didn't try them.
And finally...the most heavenly, delicious, dessert EVER. I present to you, the bread pudding with bananas foster sauce. Sounds simple but sweet baby Jesus that is one awesome dessert. I'd pay for Ohana's for the dessert alone!
And here's a picture of me drinking my passion fruit Mai Tai (I think that's what it was called)...just cause I've always wanted a Mai Tai
I plan on getting day two posted tomorrow. It will include a review and pictures from lunch at Nine Dragons and a review of Captain Cook's at the Polynesian. Hope you enjoy!
