Trip Report – Part 9 – Day 6 – Epcot

When the week first started, I was an early riser. I would get up, dressed and be ready to hit the parks. As the week progressed, it became more and more difficult to get ready in the morning. Day 6 we decided to tackle Epcot again. No wake up calls again, when we arrive, we arrive. I called the Rain Forest Café for dinner reservations, but they were booked for the evening. They recommended being a walk in.

We walked through the gates of Epcot and headed directly toward Soarin’ to get fast passes. While we were waiting for the fast passes to be ready, we took the boat ride in The Land. No very exciting!!!! Then we progressed over to the land of seas where we saw Turtle Talk. The kids loved it and we found it to be very cool. We looked around and noticed the plastic shark photo opportunity:

By this time our fast passes were ready for Soarin’. We went in the fast pass line. The lady in front of us somehow lost her fast passes from the entrance where the CM checks to make sure you have the fast passes to where they collect them. She looked everywhere while we stood there waiting. The CM let all the people waiting (non-fast pass people) get on while we waited. We stood there wondering why she does not step aside to look for the fast passes and let us go by her. Nope, she was panicking and finding those fast passes was the only thing on her mind. Finally she screams, “here they are.” Maybe this worked to our benefit because we were able to get seats front row. This ride is so cool; it feels like you are going to scrap your toes against the trees. Like I said before, we love this ride.

After Soarin’ we walked over to Imagination. The Figment ride was not overly exciting in our eyes. We decided to stop for a lunch break at this point. We found a nice shady bench, and pulled out our lunch. After lunch, we walked over to character greeting area for some pictures with characters:

Then walked over to Test Track. There was a 50-minute wait in the standby lane, but we decided to wait anyway. No matter where we go, we will see a line. We were pretty close to getting on board when Test Track broke down. That was the point when it occurred to me that I read something on the DIS boards about Test Track usually breaking down around lunch time. Too late now, we were so close. Fortunately, it did not take them long to get it up and running. This was DD4’s first time on this ride so she was a little nervous. Both girls loved it and wanted to ride again so, we got fast passes for later. DH decided to go on Mission Space while we waiting for him by the fountain. When he got off, I asked how it was. He said that he was a little disappointed. I am not sure what he expected. All I know is I have no desire to spun in a centrifuge. We then decided to walk over to the Future World. I could tell that the girls were beginning to get over tired because they were getting whiney when they asked for something and we said No. Assuming that it was the lack of sleep, we just ignored them and moved on our way. There was a cute little gardening section that DD8 fell in love with. She is big into gardening, right now. They gave the kids aprons, and tomato plants that she found very exciting and made her forget about the souvenirs that she wanted. DD4 loved the kidcot sections. She got a kick out getting something from every country. Here are some pictures in future world:

We breezed in and out of each country because the kids did not find it too exciting. Plus DH was anxious to make it to Mexico for a Margarita. We went to Norway to go on the water ride and then over to Mexico. DH finally got his Margarita after we rode Mexico’s water ride. By this point it was time for us to finally use our fast passes for Test Track. DH let the girls ride while he stayed back to finish off his Rita. When we got of test track we decided to call it a day and head over to Rain Forest Café in Downtown Disney for dinner. The girls love to play Punch Buggy, so DD8 asked to have her picture taken next to the Punch Buggy:

By the time we reached Downtown Disney, the air cooled off and I was a little chilly. The person at the purple elephant told me we would have a 20-minute wait. Well, it was 20 minutes when they called our name, but we then waited in a line to get in the restaurant for another 20 minutes or so. I was about to say, let’s ditch this place and head over to Earl of Sandwich for take out, but we were already there. There were these kids in front of us dressed in Prom gowns. We could not quite figure out why they were dressed for the prom at Rainforest Café. Not only that but, there were about 6 girls and 2 boys. Not sure about you guys, but when I was in High School and I went to the prom, we went with one date of the opposite sex. How times change!!! When we were finally seated we had a decent meal near the elephants. DD8 eyes popped out of her head when she saw the Volcano and begged for one. We agreed to all share it. She just loved it when they came out of the kitchen yelling “Volcano!” She would yell, “Volcano” every time. Here are some pictures of Downtown:

When we got back to the hotel. We decided to take a dip in the Hot Tub and then straight to bed. Tomorrow will be our last day in Disney World. It sure has been a great week, but it goes by so fast.

Up next……. Day 6 - Our last park day

I am glad to see that everyone is so excited about the Mickey Mouse Tie Dye T-shirts. I forgot to mention that when we were leaving Magic Kindgom on Day 5, I saw a group of people wearing them. I wanted to go over to see if they were DISers, but they were heading in the other direction and moved too fast for me.

When I made mine, I bought the T-shirts at AcMoore. They were on sale for 5 for $10 and then I had a 40% coupon for any regular priced item which I used for the tie-dye kit to bring the price down to $6. It was an inexpensive project.

When sewing the Mickey head, I used fishing string, but I have read that others used dental floss. The hardest part is waiting to see how they came out. Any questions that you have please feel free to ask. Oh and I would love to see pictures when you finish.

Its a type of car. You can see it in the picture one of her girls are in. Its the red car.
And its a game kids play every time they see one they punch the person and say "punch buggy you cant punch me back" and the person has to wait till they see one to hit the other person back, but they have to see it first and punch them first. Its a kids game but adults sometimes do it too :) :) :) :)

I hate the punch bug game - there's also something about finding the wood panel on cars that the boys get a kick out of!! ugg!! lol lol

Love the pics of the crocs, ok, love ALL the pictures you shared!! I forgot I bought tshirts, and tie dye, but never got around to trying to make the shirts!! Thanks for the reminder - they do look AWESOME!! I just never wore tshirts in the park, I have some shirts that "wick" are really light weight, its so darn hot in FL!!!

thanks for sharing so much!!

It sounds like you a had a great time, I can't wait to hear how it all ends.

Now you'll have to start planning your next trip :thumbsup2

I doubt the boys going to the prom had multiple dates each. More likely, not all the girls were able or willing to find an opposite sex date and still wanted to go. Or one or two of the couples were made of two girls.

Trip Report – Part 10 – Day 6 – Our last park day

Well, here it is our last park day. It is hard to believe how fast this week has gone by. I called my Dad at home and asked him to go on line to check us in for our Southwest flight home. He was very concerned about that fact that we could not print up the boarding passes. I told him, “I read about this on the DIS board, don’t worry about it, I can print boarding passes at the airport.” He said, all right but he was not convinced.

We arrived at the park around opening and headed left as usual. This was the last day of Pirate of Caribbean, so we needed to get our fix. As we turn left toward Adventureland, the kids noticed a Mommy duck with her babies. They were so excited; they started yelling, “Take a picture Mom.” I took one and then they both said, “Make an extra copy for me.” Oh, okay, glad to hear that baby ducks are the highlight of the trip! Here is the picture:
126_2651_img.jpg

We then proceeded into Adventureland, while in line for Aladdin, it suddenly occurred to me that I am tired of waiting in line. It is for the kids, I can hang in there, right? While in line for Pirates, I was talking to family behind us who just arrived that day. I told them that it is good thing they went on Pirates today because it will be closing until July. “Oh, really, I did not know that” was their response. Then they asked about some other stuff, basically I could tell that these people were not DISer’s and they clearly did not do any research at all. Then we went around to Frontierland. Splash Mountain was down so we grabbed fast passes for DD4’s favorite ride Big Thunder Mountain. Next the kids were hungry, we decided to bet the lunch rush and eat early. I used up the rest of the lunchmeat to make sandwiches for DH and myself so, we bought the kids counter service chicken nuggets. As we were eating our lunch, the crowd level was building up. After lunch we went on the Haunted Mansion, here are some pictures of the girls:
126_2664_img.jpg

By this point, it was time to head back to Frontierland. While walking over we could see that they were running Splash Mountain without any passengers, we thought that it was good news. We went on our final spin on Big Thunder Mountain and just had to take picture for DD4:
126_2653_img.jpg

When walking toward our stroller we noticed that they were letting people on Splash, we rushed over to get a place in line. This is one of my favorite rides at Disney. Then we proceeded back over to Fantasyland for the favorites. While DH took the girls on Mad Tea Party, I waited behind because this Mom does not spin and noticed Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb standing there. I stood in the back of line until I noticed that the ride was ending. When they got off I called them and they were able to get pictures and autographs from these two:
126_2667_img.jpg

We went to get fast passes for Space Mountain, but it was at that point where were all parked out. Nobody really wanted to wait in line. We would rather go back to the Hotel so, that was what we did. We let the kids go for a long swim. They had a great time in the water. When we told them we wanted to get out to get some dinner, they wanted to eat pool side again. DH really wanted a sit down meal because it was our last night here at Disney World. We got in the car and drove, not knowing where we are heading. I suggested Steak and Shake, but DH preferred the Olive Garden. At least we knew that we would be having a decent meal. We had a very friendly waiter; he asked where we were from. We responded, NH. He asked if we were Red Sox fans because the waiter is apparently a Yankees fan. We said Red Sox all the way; there goes your tip. Just kidding, DH did tell him that, but of course tipped generously. Our meal was excellent, so everyone was happy.

We went back to the hotel, packed our bags and got things ready for the morning, then decided to head back to Magic Kingdom for the parade and fireworks. We got a spot in front of the castle for the parade.
126_2680_img.jpg

There was a lady next to me that just shoved herself right in front of me and then proceeded to shove her son in front of this elderly couple. She was very rude. DH kept telling me to shove her back, but. I did not shove. After the parade, the girls wanted to leave, I insisted on staying because it was our last day and it is EMH, we could stay here until 12:00am. DD4 was just exhausted, she fell asleep before the fireworks even started. Wishes was incredible, I recommend to definitely take the time to watch it. When the fireworks over, I really wanted to head over to Space Mountain, but I was alone in that battle, so we fought our way down Main Street like everyone else and onto the bus back to CSR. When we got on DH took DD4 and I took everything else. The bus was swamped, so standing was our only option. Do you think that just one person would give up their seat for DH who is holding a sleeping 4 year old, NO, that would be just too nice. Maybe a Mom would put their child in her lap, so DH could have a seat, NO that would be too nice. I was just fuming the entire ride back at the pure ignorance of some people. I would never ever be that rude to anyone. One time I had my DD8 stand to give up her seat to an older woman, it just is not right. DH could not take it any longer, he had to get off on Bus Stop 1, we put her in the stroller and walked back to the room. It was nice stroll, looking back at the lights seeing CSR for the last time. I even took a picture:
126_2689_img.jpg
126_2692_img.jpg

When we got back to the room, we put the kids to bed. DH and I got some last minute things together for the morning. DH brought some bags into the car, I set the back up call and then we hit the hay. Our last night here, ahhh.

Trip Report – Part 11 – Day 8 - Departure Day

This was our last day in Orlando, today we had a flight to catch so we had the wake up call set. This time we let DD4 answer it, even though she was rather tired. Her voice was exhausted as she said “Hello.” After her Mickey and Stitch phone call, she crawled back in bed while I jumped in the shower. We got the kids washed up and dressed, we checked the drawers and under the beds one last time as we departed the lovely Coronado Springs Resort. We headed back to the airport, I looked at the WDW arches as we drove off and felt somewhat sad that our vacation has come to an end. We dropped off the car and went to baggage check where we received our boarding passes (See Dad, you can do that!). Our flight was about an hour late because the plane was late coming into Orlando. Other than the delay, our SW experience was great. When we got home, DH and I agreed that this was our best vacation ever. It is hard to believe that were able to top our last Disney vacation, but we did no problem. I think that all the planning really helped, so I would like to thank my fellow DISer’s for all of your advice.

Looking back, I would like to list things that I would have changed or not changed on this trip:

Dining – I think that I should have considered the dining plan. It really is a great value.

Park Hopper – I did not feel that I needed to hop parks since I purchased a 7-day pass, but if I were to go with the dining plan, I would consider the park hopper option. This just gives you more restaurant options.

Accommodations – We have now tried both, stayed in the park and outside of the park. We feel that there is not comparison, staying inside the park is a must. We would also recommend CSR it is a great resort.

Breaks – I really enjoyed the mid-day break, I felt it gave us some extra energy. They worked for our family, so we will continue to do that on future trips.

Well, this is the end of my trip report. I appreciate all of the pleasant comments on the reports and my children, it means a lot to me. If anyone has questions, feel free to PM me. Oh and don’t forget to send me pictures of those Mickey T’s. Bye.

Thanks for not only a great trip report, but also for posting so regularly. I find it totally frustrating to read someone's report and have them not post for weeks at a time with the next installment.

Thanks also for the tye dye shirts. I'm hoping to try them.

I agree with all of the above! I hope you are able to come back for a visit soon! I envy you living in NH (I'm originally from RI) but there are benefits to being within driving distance of "The Mouse". :)

You probably do not envy us here in NH right now, these floods are just incredible. It rained for 8 days straight, so far 19" of rain and more to come. My DD has not had school all week, if they have to make up these days their scheduled last day of school is June 23. They will be attending school until July at this rate. I have been hearing about the fires and dry spell in FL, mother nature needs to send this rain down south.
