Enjoying your report!

I have a question for you though. In your Sword in the Stone picture, was the happy lady in the back with you?

Nope he definitely did not get the wet burrito. After seeing your picture DH is very disappointed that he missed out. Maybe next time.

I did not have time to work on MGM yet. We went out last night. Maybe tonight, let see what I can do.

Nope, just the blonde trying to remove the sword. Is that anyone you know?

Nope, just wondering why she was so happy. :teeth:

I am from NH too and will be going to Disney with my DH, DD and my extended family in October 2006. Love reading about your trip, can't wait to see the next installment. Your DD's are adorable!! :thumbsup2

Your trip report is great, I'm really enjoying it. Also, this isn't perfect by any means but I thought you might like a photo of your beautiful daughter without Miss Cheerful in the background!

Trip Report – Part 8 - Day 5 - All day, no breaks.

It was day 5 and we were about to visit DD8's favorite park, MGM Studios. We decided against the wake up call and arrive whenever we arrived. The three girls wore the Mickey tie-dye t's that I made. DH did not want to wear his because his really did not come too well. It was his own fault because when I was making them, he did not want “pink” in his shirt. Oh well, 3 shirts out of 4 isn't too bad. We decided on taking the car today even though DH really wanted to use Disney Transportation. He seems to give in every time, isn’t he a great husband? When we first got to the park, we headed over to Tower of Terror and Rock n Roller Coaster. I got two fast passes for RnR and DH got two fast passes for TOT. Then we walked over to the great movie ride. I really found this ride dated. When the bad guy took over the car, he was picking our family with the matching Mickey T's, DD8 gave him the look of death, she did not find him humorous. After the ride was over we chalked that ride off our list as no need to go back. Then we posed for family photo's in front of the big hat and headed back to TOT because our fast passes were up. Here are some pics:

I got a child swap pass for myself while DH and DD8 rode first. DD4 and I waited for them in the gift shop. To keep DD4 busy I took her picture wearing a hat and let her take one of me:

We waited and waited, finally DH called me from his Nextel to inform me that they are stuck inside the elevator. I decided to bring DD4 over to the hat so she could get some autographs from a character or two. When we got there she was so excited to see Stitch. Look a this picture of Stitch eating her ponytail:

We also walked over to get Dopey's autograph but he needed a break so, this guy from Pinocchio came over (not sure on his name):

We then decided to head back to TOT because they surely must be off the ride by now. I called DH and he said that they are working on it. Then he called shortly afterward to tell me that they were off. Fortunately, DD8 was not scared; I know that DD4 would have been crying the entire time so I was relieved that we did not push her to ride that one. We held onto the child swap until later, and then proceeded over to RNR, we got child swap for DH while DD8 and I rode. You should have seen her eyes as we were in line to get o the limo. She watched them take off and her eyes popped out of her sockets. She said, "this is going to be great." I don't know what it is, maybe it is the take off, but I love this ride. RNR is on the top 5 according to my list. When we got off, she went running over DH yelling, “This ride is awesome Daddy, you are going to love it!” I took DD4 over to animation area, watched some thing on how characters are created and took advantage of some photo ops with Chicken Little when DH called. We met up with them and decided to sit in the shade to eat some lunch. I pulled out our sandwiches that I made and relaxed a little and looked over at the map. DD8 was really jealous to find out that DD4 had so many more autographs, but the fact of the matter is, DD8 got to go on rides while her sister was waiting for her.

After lunch, the girls wanted to go on Narnia, we went in and believe me, and it was nothing but a preview for a movie that we already saw. Do not waste your time!!!!! We walked over to the back lot tour. We were glad to see that they got rid of the house from Empty Nest. When we got off the back lot tour DD4 starts screaming that she is hot. We are looking at one another and the rest of the people and we thought it actually was quite comfortable, maybe 85°. We brought her over to the stroller and mist her down with the fan spray mister. She was much more comfortable so we walked over Lights Motorcars Action. As we were walking in DD4 was just too hot to walk so I carried her. She decided to cool off the crowd by spraying them with her misting bottle. DH took it away. We sat and waited for the show to start. DD4 was just about asleep in my lap when the show started, so she never slept. After the show was over, I really wanted to head back to the hotel for a rest, but DH thought we should hang here longer. We went over to Star wars because DD4 is a huge SW fan, then stopped for an ice cream break. I looked at the map and noticed that the parade was about to start so we headed in that direction. I picked a spot on the sidewalk, while DH brought the kids over to the souvenir shop. DD8 really wanted the landyard and DD4 wanted a princess hat. We gave in, how often do you go to Disney World? DD4 absolutely loved the parade. She was cute, she was excited about every character that went by. It felt good because this park really was not for her.

After the parade, DD8 and I rode the TOT, it was awesome. we went over to get fast passes for RnR but, they were all sold for the day. I tried to get us dinner at a restaurant, but we would have missed Fantasmic, so we decided on counter service. If I were to do it all over again, I would definitely make ADR's at Brown Derby with the Fantasmic dinner package. You live and learn. We went to a few shops and then headed over to Fantasmic and hour before the show. We waited for the show to start DD4 was very tired and very cranky. We played I spy to keep her busy. I offered to let DH and DD8 stay while I brought her back to the hotel, but DH refused. The guy sitting next to me was all by himself with his two kids. He was annoying me because he was filling his kids up with cotton candy and they were just bouncing around everywhere, banging into people. He gave a juice box to DD4 because she could barely sit still, she was way over tired and it was very nice of him. Fantasmic was a nice show. The kids really enjoyed it. When leaving there with the loads of people, my stroller blended in with all the others. I walked up and down looking for the stroller. DH came over and there it was right where we left it, Opps!! This was a very very long day. It was the only day without a break and it was very hard on DD4, I think that a break in the day is necessary. We decided to go back to Epcot tomorrow. Besides going to Epcot, we will not have a plan. We just want to take our time and enjoy ourselves.

Up next…. Day 6 - Epcot. Around the World.

She can't be one of my girls because they both like to strike a pose for most pictures. DD4 had dress rehersal and pictures for her dance recital this weekend. You should have seen her, the photographer was laughing because she was making up her own poses. Look at this one:

They are actaully not that difficult. The key is do not put too much dye where the Mickey Head is. Show me pictures when she finishes:

Directions from Cojochurch
First you will need the dye. I got a kit at Michaels that came with the instructions, dye, squirt bottles, soda ash, gloves, and rubber bands. Get 100% cotton shirts. That is very important so that you get vibrant colors. Do not use Rit Dye – you will not get vibrant colors!

Take the shirt and draw a mickey head in pencil, on the shirt. I made a pattern on papper first and then traced along the edge. You will then "sew" the pattern. Use a needle and thread. I got a waxed thread at Michaels to make sure it didn't take up the dye. Sew a 1/4" - 1/2" basting stitch along the pencil line. A basting stitch is a very simple stitch that goes up & down through the fabric. Only go through the front of the shirt if that is where you want the mickey to be. If you want it on front and back. Do each side separtely. After stitching along the complete line, knot it, and pull it tight, so the fabric gathers in a bunch. Make sure the inside of the Mickey is poking outward. Pleat the rest of the fabric, so that you have a long snake like tube. The more careful you are with pleating the fabric along the length of the shirt, the better the final result. Go easy, and take your time. Wrap a rubber band around the threaded bunch. The tighter the tie, the more defined the outline of the mickey will be. Place remaining rubber bands in 1"-2" intervals along the rest of the shirt. It is a little hard to explain, but when you are done you will have a long snake. One end is the mickey on front of shirt and the other end it the back mickey. Through the middle is the rest of shirt (arms, neck etc.).

Then follow the instructions in the kit for preparing and dying shirts. The squirt bottles make it possible to get the specific color where you want it.

Here is a diagram:

You're welcome! And thank you for the directions for the shirts. I'm going to try that, they're adorable.

Wow, I think I might try those shirts. It doesn't look too awfully hard.

I'm really enjoying your report. And I had to comment on your picture of your younger DD and you with the ToT stitch hat. My DD has that hat. She bought it with her own money on our spring break trip and wears it every time we go. We're FL residents with passes, so we visit a LOT. She gets comments on that hat in every single park we visit. In fact, many of the CMs in parks besides MGM have never seen it before. It is a big conversation starter.

Anyway, looking forward to the next report.

I just sat down and read the ENTIRE report and looked at all your beautiful pics! I was just about to ask how you made the tie-dye shirts and there it was. Those are so cute! I have never actually worn any Disney paraphernalia - that might be my first! My kids would love it, too!!

Backing up to your scavenger hunt surprise, I did that for my 7 yr old on her birthday. We were taking a quick trip around Thanksgiving and I thought we'd make it a surprise for her birthday. I, too, did not get the squeals and cheers I thought I would. I think it takes time for that kind of thing to sink in for that age. After a few minutes, she was really excited. The 3 yr old never really got it at all. :confused3

Thanks again for a great report!
