7 day Western - May 7, 2005???

Does anyone know if the ship does anything special for Mother's Day? We have lunch planned with friends/family in Key West. As far as Key West goes, just head down Duval Street. Lot's of great shopping and bars!
If you want a city tour, I prefer the "conch train."
This time next week we'll BE in Key West!!!

I don't know if they plan anything for Mother's Day or not. We didn't plan anything for Key West. May not even get off the ship. Being Floridians, and having been there before, we may just enjoy what's onboard....we'll see!
Being Mother's Day, don't really want to leave the kids behind, but they don't get a charge out of shooping and bar hopping like we do

I thought my suitcases were too big but just packed and I need more room. Of course I just found out DH needs more clothes. But he wanted to wait until Thursday to pack. He doesn't see why we got to pack today.

It will be soo great to be on the ship and not worry about anything.
Relaxing in our chairs with a drink in each hand. Watching the walkers sweat,drinking our milk shakes. Just can't wait.

It is stinky day here today. Raining and dark. So much for that Florida tan I was going to get today.
I'll just get next week.

Welcome flybycruise...love your sense of humor!
Ladies...I can tell you without a doubt, flybycruise is not my DH. As DS17 says, "It can't be Dad, clandestine is too big a word for him to use!". Actually, DH got quite a chuckle from the posting. Guess he can relate. He is VERY good at staying out of the way. His simple logic is that he pays for the cruise and I do everything else.
Anyway, glad to see another DH on the boards. We still love you, James and Harris.

Hi all
Last cruise we took a very large solid tourister suitcase and we had to put it against the wall but, we had a cat 4 and had extra room. You can put the bags under the bed if they fit The closets are not extremely big but some post they put most of thier luggage in there to store Trying to finish most of the packing today and found the mini steamer and it still works James

I'm starting the packing today in the (you guessed it) guest room. I will have to iron evryting before putting in the suit case. DH does not understand why I want to start today instead of Thursday. I finally got him to give me his shirts at least.
We didn't go anywhere near Walmart, just went to Target instead

Today we sent to Penney's as DH suddenly decided he didn't have enough tropical shirts for the cruise.

My DD20 if very calm about the whole thing. She does her own packing.

We keep looking at each other and saying"This time next week..."

These last few days will be hard to get through.

but am a little surprised that we needed 1 large suitcase, 2 medium and one small- i think i packed toooooo many clothes- 2 med cases packed with clothes, 1 small with clothes and 1 large case with misc.... stuff

oh well, i'm not taking anything out- it took tooo long to get this mission accomplished

now.......what do i do while i wait for friday to come ?? this week is gonna drag and i am going to be waking up at 5:30am like last week when i didn't have to be up till 7am i guess im just a big kid and way to excited

Ok...granted, I'm as compulsive as the next person but...how can you have everything packed already? Don't you need some of those things over the next week? Say, like undies and toiletries? You must have way more of these things than we do. I have clothes laid out on the bed and things that I know we need that we aren't using but otherwise I just have a zillion lists of stuff to put in on Friday.
So...has anyone identified our mystery man??? Must live somewhere cold, hmmmmm. Tera, mnmeal, LostGirls, TiggerzFan, Kaykels, 2ndstar to the right, Goofytoo????
Stupid wine question....I read on another thread that you can bring your own wine and request glasses for your room, then pour it and take it to dinner in the glasses. Does this sound odd to anyone? Do you walk around on deck carrying a glass of wine? I'm so new at this.

Linda..I'm not sure about the wine thing. Other cruises we have been on, you weren't supposed to bring onboard any wine etc. I know it is permitted on Disney. And no....I don't think it's odd if you bring in a glass of wine with you to dinner. No different than if you are dining at a restaurant and waiting for your table in the bar.....then walk into the dining room with it. Heck, I'm even bringing my blender! I love frozen drinks, but particular in how they are made. (Don't like too sweet, strong etc.)

Thanks Jott for the weather links. It has been a totally yucky day in Central FL. Not one ounce of sunshine today I guess my tan will be minimal unless we get an abundance of sun this week.

I also cannot believe all you premature packers are packed!!! I would love to know I have everything together this early in the game, but I don't. I keeping making more lists and checking them twice

Rachel - The only thing keeping me sane this weekend is knowing that in just a couple of days, I will be on the beach in the sun, NOT having to wear 5 layers of clothes

Linda - flybycruise doesn't belong to me. As computer geeky my DH is, I doubt he would ever find his way here

As far as packing, since it's still snowing here, my shorts and tank tops are not in use, so I've got all that stuff packed. The only thing I do still need to pack is the undies and tolietries.

I was hoping we wouldn't be the only one with the big obnxious suitcase in tow. DH and I have one large and one medium suitcase and the girls each have their own with matching carryon's. I think I'm good with clothes, having taken some stuff out, but I just can't believe the amount of other "stuff" I have packed, thanks to ideas on here. I guess it's better to have it "just in case" than not have it at all

As far as Key West, no plans for us, but I would like to try and rent those electric cars to drive around in. If not, we might do the conch train, but I just wonder if the kids would be bored Then again, it's Mother's Day so who cares if THEY are bored, I get to do what I want

Cold is such a relative thing (unlike your relatives, like DW, DD, DS, etc).


For one if its 90 then 80 is cold, for another 35 and freezing is cold (of course cold for all).

Anway.. cant wait for the cruisematic....

See, all of you can get ready because you don't have teenage boys who will only wear certain things. And yes, I could just pack other stuff and they'd have to wear it. But they wouldn't. They'd wear the same outfit the entire week just to get back at me.
Can you believe how soon we'll all meet. Don't you just want to burst into song? Maybe not! After a few drinks...maybe so!

It definitely is not my DH.He wouldn't know how to get here either. My family is scared because I talk about you all like I've known you for ever.

My bedroom looks like a bomb hit it. Suitcases, clothes, and other things all over it. I'm partly packed. We went to Sears to get DH some more shorts. Of course he thinks 5 pair was enough(could you imagine).I hope I shopped for the last time.

Now it's time to get the cleaning done. Then on Wednesday DGD & I can get our pedicures.

I got one of those bright green bandanna's at Walmart. I put it on my carry-on. Plus my DH will have on Phillies jersey, so you'll know it's us.

I also am soo excited about seeing you all.

I got the same big suitcase from a flea market. I've seen it at ALL of the flea markets. I swear it's the same Chinese guy selling them. Anyway, it DOES not fit under the bed. It will fit in the closet but it takes up precious space so we shoved it between the bed and the wall. That thing is so big that you could have fit a kid or two in there and saved a few bucks!
