7 day Western - May 7, 2005???

Tera
Sorry about my spelling.. I was trying to type the Captain Marvin site.. The RES is Romntic Esape at Sea...

James -

I was wondering if I had missed something:hyper: Have not made those reservations yet, but soon. My understanding is that you book online with a credit card, but only charge you when you do the excursion. My guess in case the ships doesn't make it there, they won't charge you. Would love to do the REAS, but with two kids with us, what's the point:crazy:

You are absolutely right. I dropped my laptop the other day and the a key doesn't work right.(Need to order a new keyboard) I was trying to type about a night before the cruise room at Radisson resort. We stayed there last time and liked the free shuttle to the ship. I still have to reserve the REAS which you can do when your cruise is confirmed. I think I will also do the excursions from Disney so that the hassle is gone. We have been to Key West so we will just go out on our own. Talk lter

James -

I've heard good things about the Radisson. It'll depend on what Ron Jon's rate is. We're renting a car, so we won't need the shuttle.

I think we'll do our excursion at Cozumel through Disney, but we're going to go through Captain Marvin for that excurision in Grand Cayman. I don't think we're planning any excursion in Key West. We'll just walk around, do a little shopping and enjoy our vacation:sunny:

Ahhhhh.... I can't wait:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce::Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Hi James:wave:

What is this Captain Marvin excursion in Grand Cayman? Hope we are still going to GC!

Hi Leggs22
There is a direct link on page 2 of this post. This is a site where you can do your own excursions and save some money over Disney. With Disney you are billed to your on-board account vs having to pay through Captain Marvins. Hope this helps:bounce:

Thanks for the info. Was thinking of stingray city but my dd who is 7 may be too frightened of the rays to get in the water with them.

I saw this info on Mousesavers.com:

Grand Cayman has sustained severe damage from Hurricane Ivan. Those who were scheduled to dock there on Western itineraries can probably count on either skipping that port or stopping at a substituted port for the foreseeable future.

Hi Leggs22
I just got off the web page of the Grand Caymans and the honcho said that no ships will be allowed for 2 months, but due to the fact they are not a poor islant they will return.. I also read about more sand which had been deposited on 7 mile beach which is encouraging. Of course the turttle farm was destoyed.:o If you have a 7DD that is probably too young for the stingrays anyway. They can be very aggressive for food. Nice chating withya.

Hi all
I haven't seen anyone post lately? I just wanted to put this at the top of list again.. I have made some magnetic signs in word-- will send if you send e-mail address. I am also going to do the door signs in another program just to see about wordart format.. Have a good one.

Hi James....

Just counting the days!! I can't believe how quickly the year is going by and know the cruise will be here before I know it :D I've already started my cruise "box" after reading about it on another thread. Got most of my emergency supplies together (Bonine, Pepto, Motrin, etc...) I figure it's better to get it a little at a time instead of spending $100 in one shot:p

Been working on our cabin sign too. I can't wait to hang it on our door:bounce:

Wow, Tera! You're getting ready early! I haven't done anything yet. Actually I did- I started saving change in an empty gallon jug. I figure that would end up to be a good amount by May. And I'll save all my Disney VISA reward dollars for the cruise too.

Is the cruise "box" something that has all meds in it? All I remember taking last cruise is ginger capsules and that worked well for me.

People here are preparing for another possible hurricane. I was in ACLS class all day and had no idea what was going on. On the way home I saw long lines for gas, shelves at the grocery store are emptying (no ice already!) and I've see people drive around with plywood in their trucks or on cars. Then when I got home I saw the latest maps. I'm glad the plywood is still on my windows.

James- What kind of magnetic signs do you have. Are they all for the door to your cabin?

legs22 - I'm sorry to hear about yet another hurricane coming your way. I know you guys have had it tough out there the past couple of months. I hope Jeanne spares you guys:sunny:

The cruise box, like I said, was mentioned on here before. It's just a box people are putting together with stuff they are buying for their cruise, shoe holder, suction cups, nightlight, etc. It's just something to keep together things that I will buy throughout the year, as I see things that I think would be cool for the trip. I actually bought (at Kohl's) a clear toiletry bag that I'm using as my emergency/first aid kit and when a Rite-Aid by our house was going out of business, I figured I'd start getting something together to put in my "box". I'm also saving my change and when I have dollar bills, I put them in an envelope with my Disney Dollars I'm buying here and there. I figure the more I have done now, the less freaking out I will be doing in May:crazy:

We need to plan a DIS meet when we get closer::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Right now I wished I lived where you live in CO!

I didn't have any of that stuff on my first Disney cruise. I don't think I'd miss it on this one either. I can't think of any extra things that are essential to bring that might have been on my list from the last cruise. I don't know if I still have my list from the last cruise. All I can remember is I way over packed. Where is there a good list of stuff to bring?
Is the shoe holder for bathroom stuff? What are the suction cups for? As a nightlight I think I used the closet light or the bathroom light.

legs22 - I've never been on a cruise, so most of this stuff is new to me. I've gotten several lists on this board (I think there is one at the top, Lots of helpful cruise info). The over the door organizer is for the bathroom and all the things me and two DD's will have :p or you could use it to keep track of your camera, lotions, etc... The suction cups are suppose to be great in the bathroom for bathing suits. My kids are use to having a nightlight in their bathroom and I think the light in the bathroom would be too bright.

Hi leggs22 and TERA
Here is a listing for the ultimate packing list website(Calgon) http://www.geocities.com/Calgon1/
Yep I took too much stuff on the last cruise also. In fact I just got back from walmart--1-tip-small shave cream for wife--hand sanitizer--etc.. Since it is just the wife and I this time.. ACLS huh, I have to take it before December myself....got a couple of door signs dome already.. I didi a couple in word but use print shop since you can do the mutiple colors and save in pdf. talk later
James:firefight DVC since 2001

Thanks James....

That's one of the lists I have printed out. I think I have 3 or 4 different lists and then I'm trying to combine them on one for myself in Word. My only worry like everyone else is bringing too many clothes. My youngest DD is a pack rat, so I need to make sure I give her a specific list and then double check it. She always seems to sneak in all that small stuff that I end up tripping over later:crazy: Need to remind her she will not be in the cabin long enough to play with her baby stuff.

Teresa

Oh, CruiseDiva.com is another great site with packing information

Winds gusting at 31 here. Boarded up and ready to ride out another one. It will be a lot worse later. Lights dimmed. May lose power soon. That is the worst part of all this. Dreaming of the cruise:D

Legs22 - Hope you get through this okay and with little to no damage. Hopefully this will be the last one you have to deal with and just think we'll be sitting in the sun with a drink in our hands very very soon:teeth:
