7 day Western - May 7, 2005???

Rachel,
The six toed cat is at Hemingway's house. I have a 7 toed cat, guees I've got them beat!!!!!!! :rotfl2: By the way how can you be going with Grumpy. I have Grumpy right here. You'll know him when you all see him. he'll probably have a Grumpy shirt on ( that's all we buy him). :rotfl:

I know what Rachel means when she says"you get depressed now".
Because once it's over there's nothing to look forward to. :sad2:

If you all go on historictours.com they have tickets for the Keys.
I booked the trolley tour that stops at places, Hemingway's and the shipwreck musuem. sounds like fun. Of course we got to stop at Margeratville. :bounce: :dancer:
Debbie

:cheer2: :cool1: :cheer2: :Pinkbounc

Lynn
That will be cool :cool1: if we're on the same boat. I don't see, why not.

No everyone, I'm not crazy writing at this hour. Just can't sleep and gave up trying. :confused3

Don't everybody laugh! :rotfl: How do we earn our EARS? ( New to the boards) :earseek:
:wave2:

All most there!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hourglass

Hi Rachel and Debbie,
I don't know how the two of you have Grumpy with you...he lives here!!! :sad2: That's what DSs and I always call him. He never has any enthusiasm, total disinterest...a real fun guy! Why do you think we're all excited about being able to go off and do what we want? Just kidding really. DH is a tax accountant so being unenthusiastic goes with the territory and this is a really tough time of year for him. Once it's over and we're on the ship, he'll have a blast!
I'm interested in that six-toed cat, too. I'm assuming that's on one foot. As a matter of fact, I think I'll go count my cat's toes right now.
Counting down!
:wave2: Linda

We are doing Key West on our own (maybe the Trolley Tour, Hemingway's House, and Aquarium), Stingray City Observatory & Island Tour in Grand Cayman, and Atlantis Submarine Expedition in Cozumel.

We had planned to do the Tulum Ruins in Cozumel, but changed our plans since my foot may not be up to all that walking. I sure hope it will improve over the next few weeks -- it has already been 6 weeks now. I see the Doctor again tomorrow...

Are we all married to the same guy? :rotfl2: Mine doesn't show enthusiasm either.
I must say, however, that I have 2 Grumpy's. My DD20's nickname is Grumpy and we buy her Grumpy t-shirts and hats. She is my princess princess:
Time is closing in on sail away
We are gong on the trolly tour in key west. I have 2 cats all with only 5 toes per paw so the 6 toed cats will be interesting.

mommommouse: I was awake at 3:00 a.m. this morning because I couldn't sleep either, sigh!

Carol

I now have the DD's cold (and I may be going to the doctor tomorrow for a possible ear infection!) :sad2: If you guys aren't sleeping, try sudafed, it zonks me out! But better now than in 27 days - that's what I keep telling myself!
I was born and lived in Key West until I was 12, so it is going "home" for us. My Dad went to school with Hemingway's sons - and thinks the whole cat thing is hilarious, how the tour guides make such a big deal about these cats being decendants of Hemingway's. According to my Dad, Mr. Hemingway had a pet peacock, too, that would walk down the street with him. My parents are going on the cruise with us - he'll have lots of amusing stories. :goodvibes
So, needless to say, we aren't doing any excursions there, just meeting up with friends and family. I would recomend the trolly or conch train tour - it gives you a good overview of the island and it's history. Also - if you have your heart set on eating somewhere special, you might want to look into reservations, as it is Mother's Day. Just a thought! :)
Our neighbor's just got back from the Eastern. My DH talked to them briefly and they said it was wonderful. But there was thunder, lightening and rain on Castaway Key day so they missed out on that. One thing she mentioned was reapplying sun screen under the kids eyes - they kept rubbing their eyes to get the water out when they were swimming, and they got so sunburned they actually blistered and they had to keep them out of the sun the next day. They have triplets, age 8. Do they still make that white sunblock life guards used to wear? Maybe that would do the trick. I'll see her later this week and get a full report! ;)

LostGirls -
Sorry to hear you got the girls' cold. Isn't that always the way? I guess it's better than you all having it at once.... then who would play "Mommy"?

That's really interesting about your dad's connection to the Hemmingways. Maybe he should conduct his own Key West tour and we'll all sign up for that!

I'll be SO depressed if it rains at Castaway - or if we miss it all together. We didn't get there on our September cruise due to the hurricanes. Charleston was okay, but by no means comparable to a day at Castaway.

Carol,
I guess you and I are just too excited. :cool1: :Pinkbounc :cheer2:
Lynn,
Let us know what the neighbors have to say. Can you Name somewhere good to eat.
I forgot it's Mothers day.The cruise is too exciting besides with my birthday being May 7th, everyone overlooks Mother's day. :charac2:

Jott3
Good luck with the foot. I'll keep my fingers crossed. :shamrock:

Well we all have alot in common. We all live with Grumpy! !! :rockband: I live with two of them. My DD is also one. She said today, I would like to go on the cruise sometime but I don't want to do all that prep. Tried to explain, That's part of the fun.
By the way the 6 or 7 toed cats, have 6 or 7 toes all on one paw. MIne has it on booth front paws. They have a name for them but I don't know what it is. We had two cats from the same litter with 7 toes. :crazy2:

If the cruise does't hurry up and get here I'm going to go crazy.
Debbie

:hourglass :cool1:  :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

Time is going by fast and we leave in 25 DAYS!!! :cool1: :cool1:

Days like today make me want to leave NOW!!!! We have about 10 inches of snow on the ground today and it's still falling :sad2: Sometimes I hate spring in Colorado

It would be so great if our groups will be on the same Capt Marvin excursion pirate:

No plans for Key West... I just want to enjoy a leisurly day.

LostGirls - Do you know anything about those electric cars you can rent on Key West??? I would like to rent one of those and just drive around the island.

Teresa,
Your going at 11:00 right. On the two hour or the three? If your on the two, I would bet we"re all on the same boat. I sure hope so! I just want to leave today too. Sorry about all the snow. I thought I would miss it, When I moved to Florida but I don't. I do love driving in it.:crazy2:

25 days seems like still so long!!!!!!! :hourglass

By the way I'm still reading your journal. I can't decide to go back now or just wait until we come back. I know what I should do.
Debbie

Rachael,
Please let me know if you find out what rotation is the right one.
I just printed a sample NAVIGATOR from someone who sailed on March 12th.
Sunday - dress casual
Monday - formal night
Tuesday - regular night
Wednesday - Pirate or tropical
Thursday - semi- formal night
Friday - dress casual
Maybe this will help us figure it out. Let me know.
thanks debbie

I completely forgot that Sunday in Key West will be Mother's Day...well, if it will make all you mothers feel better...we spent a Mother's Day several years ago at WDW and my DH and DSs all took me out for dinner...to ESPN Zone. :rotfl2: How can they ever top that one???
Linda

Debbie - Yes, the 2 hour (11:15-1:15). It would be a lot of fun to be on the same boat with friends.

Kids are happy about the weather since tomorrow is already a snow day for them  I can't wait for summer :sunny:

teresa,
I heard your getting like 30 inches. I would die. My boss( who never lived where There's snow) wanted to know why the schools would close for snow. HA HA!
We all just laughed at him. :flower: :sunny:

When does summer come in Colorado? And not May 22nd but no snow.
Debbie

Debbie,
You've got it right. I wish I would have consulted with you before I drove my TA nuts. We orig. had 4 cabins, changed the date of our cruise, cancelled one of the cabins, requested cabin numbers, decks, seating time, rotation and then servers. (all on seperate occasions) Now I actually had to go back and re-request the rotation. I'm sure the TA is hoping we fall of the ship and become shark bait b/c she WORKED for her commission.

So, in summary, we're probably all on deck 1 forward with a leaky sink under the disco and right above the anchor on the wrong rotation.

By the way, you're all nuts.... there is only ONE GRUMPY, my dad. He has the grey hair and everything. He'll be in full blown Grumpy attire as well (maybe we should start a club for them.) My poor hubby is DOPEY. Great guy, but can't count to 10 and walk at the same time. (God love 'em!)

Hey I Just Noticed My Time Clock Is Off By A Day.
Can Anybody Smell The Mickey Waffles Yet?
Donna... We Better Get To The Port And Start Lining Up. I Want To Be First In Line.

Hi All! I'm MommomMouse's friend, Debbie. My DH is not really a "D"H, I finally persuaded him by telling him it'd be my 50th bday present (in July, but close enough!). I am so happy that I will be with my pal Deb on her birthday! We are working hard to catch up with all of you! And seems like a few of you are from Bucks County, we're from Langhorne! So we are looking forward to the trip, and scheduling a few things a day, to catch up! I've gone on a cruise about 25 yrs ago, DH & DD have never been, and they are both a bit shy, so hopefully they will enjoy it as much as I will!
We're looking forward to meeting you!

Teresa, I found two places for the electric cars (there may be more). I don't have any experience with them, but they do look like fun.
Try: conchelectriccars.com or reefmobile.com

Debbie, there are so many great places to eat in Key West, I don't know where to start. If you're looking for something specific, let me know and I'll try to help. Below are some of my favorite's.

Everyone will want to do the "Duval Crawl" TONS of bars, resturants and shops. I love "Fat Tuesday's" which has all kinds of yummy frozen drinks (alcholic of course!) and "Hog's Breath Saloon" is fun too (usually has live music- it's pretty much "open air.") Of course you'll want to go to "Sloppy Joe's" if you've never been there, and possibly "Capt. Tony's Saloon too."
Jimmy Buffet's is on Duval too - I remember them having a really yummy Key Lime pie. The Hard Rock is close, and located in a neat old '"conch house". One of my favorite places to eat is "Half Shell Raw Bar" - wonderful fresh seafood - try the conch fritters and Stone Crab (if it's in season!)
I love to shop in "Fast Buck Freddy's", it's a little on the spendy side, but they have some really neat things. "Kennedy Studio's" has great prints/posters too. DO be careful of the "T-shirt shops" - my relatives are always telling us about articles in the local paper about how another tourist has been ripped off by them. I'd stick to what ever the ship's shopping guide says for that. Most of these places have web sites so you can look up more info. - and if I can help in any way, please let me know!

Hi Debbie from Langhorne,
Welcome! ::MinnieMo This is also our first cruise and it's a high school graduation present for DS17 (a bit early, graduation is June 5th but he'll be 18 on May 19th and we wanted him to be able to participate in the teen stuff). I, too, will be 50 in July. Small world...we're across the Delaware in NJ. We'll have to meet up for a celebratory drink. What date...mine's the 28th.
We're just doing Key West on our own, too. I've booked so much at all the other ports that I figured we'd better keep this one on the down low. We'll probably just do our own little walking tour. I'm sure DSs will dictate...13 & 17. We're flying in to Orlando early Saturday morning so it's going to be a long day so we'll want to relax on Sunday.
Off to Walmart AGAIN. Always thinking of something else we'll need.
 Linda

I think we'll all be fighting to be first in line. We'll just go in as a group.
After about 2 days we'll be pushing all the Grumpy's over-board. Think that will be a first for Disney? See article now 10 or so GRUMPY over-board on Disney cruise. :rotfl:

I need to go to as many of the bars in Key West as possible. My DS wants me to send him t-shirts from the bars. I'll make sure i hit the ones you said Lost Girls. And thank you for the info.

 :cool1: :Pinkbounc :cheer2:
