Cast: Me 32, Hubby 33, Son 10, Daughter 7
Okay...we decide that we do not need to be at Animal Kingdom for EE. We had such good luck yesterday at MK and Epoct...we were getting a little cocky. We arrive at AK around 9:30am. Not so bad..not too many people on the bus...nor at the front gate.
Here comes whine #1:
Holy Moly....where did all of these kids come from....did every middle school in FLA have AK day on Friday, May 16th???? I am not kidding...we went right to Dinoland...there were hoards of 12 - 13 year olds....EVERYWHERE. I felt like I was on a field trip. Don't get me wrong...they were very well behaved...but Geesh!!
Here comes whine #2:
Did WDW build AK with the intent to make it feel like AFRICA!!! Now please remember I am a born and breed Floridian...when it hits 60 degrees here...I turn on the heat!!! I love our weather...I love the humidity....but what I felt in AK on this day was WRONG!!! It was only May for petes sake....and it didn't feel that hot anywhere else.
Done whining....like I was saying...we rode PW...it was kinda tame...but my 7yr old really loved it!!! then the kids rode the dumbo wannabe dinosaur ride. Then we NEEDED some Ice Cream..me and Hubby got Mickey Bars...Son got a frozen banana, my daughter got a frozen banana...but her tooth was loose and it bothered her...so we got her a lion's paw....well I took it out of the package...and about 45 seconds later....it was soooo freaking hot...it melted off and SMACK hit the floor.....so then we got her a Mickey Head. Third time was a charm. We decided to wait for the Tarzan Rocks show. It kind of disappointed me....I would NOT recommend waiting for this show in the heat and crowds of the summer...I dont think it would be worth it...JMHO.
We needed to get out of AK, before we combusted...so I called MGM to see about a fantasmic dinner pkg. with an early dinner. Success!! H & V @ 4:00. We went over to MGM...it is now about 1pm. We ride TOT, and RnR. And a miracle has happened...the weather has returned back to a normal 90 degrees...I guess it must be the african tundra effect...lol.
It is Star Wars weekend at MGM..(which I forgot about), so now I am thinking "oh great, the back of the park is going to be MOBBED!!" Nope...Star Wars weekend was ALOT of fun!!! We are not SW fans....but we have watched the movies...and this was a NICE bonus for us and the kids....the stormtroopers where following people and scarring the crap out of them. That was hilarious...and bubba fet(sp) was there...(he was pretty mean too)...we met chewy and han solo...it was really alot of fun. and there was no wait on star tours either...which was a pleasant surprise.
H & V was Okay...I am not sure if I would eat there again, but it was the only thing available with such short notice for the package.
It is now 5:30 and we have some time before we have to line up for fantasmic. We headed over to the drew carey sound thing....we had ALOT of fun playing in the booths outside of the theater. There were HS bands having competition infront of the Hat...so we sat there and watched some of them...(they were very good). We did some shopping...pin trading and made our way down hollywood blvd to get into fantasmic. At 8:30 they let us in...we had pretty crappy seats..considering we had PS for the show. It turned out that we could see everything....but why do they block off the very last section for the PS guests...you would think they would try to hold at least some better spots...oh well, I am not complaing...the show was excellent.
We left the theater....and walked to the buses...which ours was waiting for us...YIPPIE...(gotta love that!!). Hop on..head home to WL and in bed by 10:00.
Tomorrow....we decided at the last minute....
